This "Shadow" character, please help me out on this. She's a CIA agent, right? I mean, they go to Berrenger Import-Export, most likely expecting a confrontation or somekind of trouble and she's wearing a long dress -complete with purse???- and high heels?!?!?! |

Exactly! That always bugged me, too. You know, women can wear pants, too, it's not forbidden anymore Isn't that the episode where Mac helds up the wire mesh fence for her to crawl under it? I really would have liked to see getting her over this fence in this dress |

Yeah, that's the only part that bugged me about her character. Why would she dress so nicely when she knew full well that they were about to walk into trouble? Could this be a nitpick? Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. I also liked Mac's observation at the very beginning of the eppy: "Death is a given from the day we're born. Somehow, though, you tend to forget about it, and think it'll never happen to you or those you love. But it does." Somehow, this very serious moment provides a nice counter to the sheer goofiness that follows. |

If she was under cover at that night club. She wouldn't have been able to walk in dressed like an FBI agent. She would have had to turn up at the club looking like an normal everyday person coming to work. So when she got changed.. she would have had to wear what she came to work in. |

Good point, Rocky. I think that's as good an explanation as any. |

Apart from the neatly-dressed CIA agent, I also wondered why Shadow can operate the cipher machine after it was found in the bad guy's car without being plugged in. A machine of such size, I suppose, would run on electricity rather than batteries. |

Maybe it had big rechargeable batteries? Or ran off some kind of photo/solar cell? Not as common in the '80's as today, I know, but bear in mind it was designed by a U.S. government agency. My guess is that agencies like the CIA are a good ten years ahead of everyone else, technology-wise. |

It would have to be a pretty big solar cell I'm thinking. |
Posted by: dinoman 24 March 2009 - 12:37 AM |
that developed using the foremost solar-powering technology that even today the world is not mastering very well. |

I had voted "GOOD" only because, in this episode, we can watch JACK e Mac together again... I saw this episode two days ago afters some years, and It seemed worse than I remembered! It's not believable that Jack claims to be able to spy better than Mac!! MAC GYVER is a ex secret agent !!! And the cipher machine does not seem credible!!! It is ridiculous!!! But Jack and Mac together are priceless!! |

Course Mac must not mind it too much cause he keeps going back for more, the loyal sweetheart that he is. I think Mac and Jack are better than Laurel and Hardy. |

While I consider the main plot of this episode to be a little too naive for my taste, it's really entertaining. Jack Dalton returns--all those flashbacks in the beginning were a little bit over the top, I think, but then again, you can imagine all the memories flashing through Mac's mind while he's standing by Jack's coffin! The whole side wagon thing is hysterical! I laughed like crazy when I saw Mac's face when they first pulled out of that "garage..." How on Earth did they manage to fit him in, with his long legs? The dress and purse aside (Rockateer's explanation why she was dressed like that is totally plausible)--I think "Shadow" really had potential. Her frantic screaming inside the garbage truck was a *little* bit like... well, too much "damsel in distress," but she did manage to knock out at least one of those guys. Some wonderful one liners in this one too. "Uh-ow, Light's out!" sent me into a laughing fit. Voting "Good." |

I would just like to say that seeing MacGyver in a side car has got to be one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Pure awesome! |

Having long legs myself I can understand how difficult they are to fit in many situations, and at 6'1" RDA has got to have quite long legs. Did you notice though that his knees were always sticking up around his chest when he was sitting in the side car? No way he could have stretched them out in it!! I enjoyed this episode for the Mac/Jack combination too. |

I voted Excellent. I enjoyed the entire show, especially the interaction between Mac and Jack. While watching the original "V: The Final Battle" on YouTube yesterday, I noticed one of the resistance fighters, who was a counterfeiting expert, used a particular machine to make a copy of a pass that would be needed to attend a news conference held by the Visitors. This machine was the same cypher machine used in this episode. |

I love Jack Dalton episodes, and this is probably my favorite! It seems like just the kind of thing Jack would find himself in, and find a way to drag poor Mac into as well. Love this episode! |

Yes, yes, she is. Because ... someone set fire to all sense of logic. |

this is a very good episode, better than the previous one from Jack. The scenes with the sidecar, Jack's apartment in the warehouse, the disco, the garbage truck among other things make it a very good time. |

If she's working undercover she has to appear "normal" so would probably have gone to work (at the bar) in that dress the same as everyone else that works there.... so that would have been the only clothing she had at the club. Undercover agents can't and don't carry around their "agent suit" with them all the time. |
