Matt Webber Matt Webber joined the Phoenix Foundation as their Director of Intelligence. His extensive DXS experience of mostly working special assignments in highly volatile parts of the world made him a perfect choice for the position.  Webber was promoted to Director of Field Operations, when Pete resigned after an explosion during a project he was heading. MacGyver later found that the explosion was part of an elaborate plan by Webber to execute his own private assault operation against a visiting South American leader.

Had to give this one just an ok, as he was one of those characters that made me say 'who?' when I read his name. So, middle of the road, then, huh?

I have to agree with the 'wabbit... only I don't remember the episode at all.

I liked Webber, too... he was one of those characters you love to hate.

He was slimy, but intelligent, and was idealistic in his own way. He also managed to get close to Nikki, which is something we didn't see too many people do. Granted, he did it just to use her, but I'll give him credit for pulling it off.

I wonder if he really only did it to use her?

I got the feeling they had been "together" for a while before the "opportunity presented itself" and it was only then that he used her to help him achieve his goals, prior to that I assumed they where just dating?

Matt Webber... I love to hate him! Not you usual villainous character, but certainly very diabolical in his undermining of the Phoenix Foundation, trying to use it for his own twisted purposes.

The DXS has certainly become a reserve from which to bring forth wicked characters! LOL! Considering that this is where Pete and Mac worked before Phoenix... it reinforces the idea that any kind of power can corrupt a person.

I did like the fact that Webber was Nikki's love interest... too bad it wasn't enough to keep her in the show. When I saw this episode, I wondered if the PTB behind the scenes were trying to placate the 'rabid female fans' that Nikki wasn't a romantic interest for Mac. It must not have worked, or perhaps the actress found greener fields... oh well. A shame. I like Nikki.

I give Webber a GOOD rating for his bad guy-ness!

I thought Matt was a pretty interesting character. I like the way he perceived the politically correct approach to be weak and ineffective. I think that stance is even more apt in todays word. He almost seemed like the voice of reason at some points. Why would you let a dictator into your country and treat hims with respect.. kinda like inviting Saddam Hussein in for tea.

He never struck me as being a particularly bad person. Just someone maybe was fed up with seeing the wrongs of the world swept to one side, or not dealt with in a decisive way, so decided to do something about it himself.

If he hadn't gone off the rails, or at least hadn't got caught, he would have made an interesting side character to the show.

At the end of the day, he stood by his own convictions and did what he thought was right (even though no-one else thought it was )

He gets a good rating from me.

I gave him a "good." I thought he did a good job at what he did.

At the end of the episode, Nikki said something along the lines of, "I thought he cared about me. He had me completely fooled."

So I think he really was taking advantage of her from the start, though he may have actually cared for her to some extent, too.

The DXS seemed to corrupt the soul after working for them for long periods. Mac and Pete left the organization before their Morals were twisted. Webber was out for power and decided any means to achieve it was fair.
