I don't know how I would feel about that.. Personally since they are doing the "arrow" and I guess Hawaii 5-0 thing of a big bad each season using the original show/ comic books/ novel as inspiration I could see at least a few big bads that could with the proper working be the big bad for a full season
Deborah (originally from the negotiator): I think she will be the first season villian and I think she could work for a full season as in her second appearance she admits it was her feelings for him that caused her to fail her contract and I think this themes on both end (how Mac feels about her and she feels about him) could play well in an over arching sense of drama that could really grow and keep viewers interested
Dr. Zito (originally from Lessons in evil and another Epsiode which escapes me): again it's silence of the lambs but in Macgyver form plus with shows like scream taking on the "who is the killer" approach a season where Zito has brainwashed one of Max's friends could really add a lot of drama to the second season plus he if played by a strong actor (I am guessing in the vein of James Spader or Mads Milkison I think that how you spell it Le Chiffe from casino Royale that guy) could really get the audience both scared and excited when he is on the screen
Murdoc: I would hold off using him till season 3 or 4 but I would hint at him through out the first two seasons the issue is well arrow using Ra's al ghul and Damien Dark kind of put high up villains a little to fast and got rid of them too fast as well..
Nicolas Holt (Halloween Knights): the head of hit and in the new version of Macgyver I think he could be made to be even more interesting and more creepy then Murdoc or he original version. He was the guy who trained Murdoc so he should be ten times more bad ass and creepy (I am picturing Peter Wingfield in the role because he is a brilliant actor and showed he can be creepy and charming at the same time with Methos)
And that is about it though a season based off the comic with Mac having a bounty on his head the entire season would be cool maybe after holt is brought down the rest of hit and a few freelancers pool together to try and kill Macgyver once and for all.

I could see Murdoc being a woman this go around. Plenty of characters have had similar done to them, I think in Elementary, Moriarty was a woman. Speaking of which, I could see Murdoc become more of a Moriarty for Macgyver. A master of crime, arms dealing, terrorism, not just an excellent HITman
My guess is that Murdoc is too strong of a character to be introduced in series 1.
What could be a nice twist is that we are introduced to a character who is inadvertently betrayed or hurt in someway by MacGyver and this causes the character to change (transition and turn evil), and perhaps seek revenge on MacGyver. He then calls himself Murdoc after his father. Or something along those lines.

I agree! Really expand on the character. Like Deborah, I've always felt that the role of Murdoch had so much potential.

Well, we already had Murdoc dressed in women's clothing in his first episode, so who knows?
If Murdoc comes back, I'm more interested in seeing whether they make him a somewhat competent hitman. He was pretty inept in the original series. (Very entertaining, but not very good at killing.)
I thought it was interesting that RDA revealed in New Zealand that he didn't care much for the Murdoc episodes. He said they were a bit too "arch" (not quite sure what he meant by that), and when somebody asked if he could have played any other character in the show, who would it be, he said emphatically, "NOT Murdoc." (He eventually decided on Jack Dalton.)

Murdoc was depicted as being somewhat androgynous in his first appearance, capable of flawlessly disguising himself as a woman. What if they took it a step further and made Murdoc transgender, nonbinary, or flat out made his gender a mystery?

That's not a bad idea... I actually really like that idea because if Murdoc's gender is ambiguous, it gives a major air of mystery about the character as MacGyver tries to figure out just who he's up against... which gives Murdoc quite an edge on him.
I would love for another Deborah like character to come back, but definitely as a separate villain. She would make a great villain of the season, while Murdoc is an on-going villain.
There's a lot of potential there that wasn't explored in the original...

Probably not, and that may be the reason it would be a tough sell in this day and age. Think about Jame Gumb from Silence of the Lambs, which some have looked back on as an offensive portrayal of transgenderism. I believe there's something about him not really being transgender and having other issues(probably elaborated in the novel), but when you have a killer who wants to wear the skins of his female victims in order to become a woman, it's hard to avoid certain connotations.
So while I think Murdoc as transgender or genderqueer could work, they'd have to be very careful not to come off as transphobic in the process.

if they made the new Murdoc a female that would totally ruin their rivalry.... there are some things only guys can do and pull it off and a Mac vs. Murdoc rivalry/death game is one of those things
As for Murdoc being transgender.... that's kinda weird and would you really want that in Murdoc? It would make his character seem less.... Murdoc-y
-MurdocFan Don't worry, you'll see me again. Just keep looking over your shoulder...

I don't know... Mac and Murdoc's rivalry was never based on brute strength. Usually it involved Murdoc setting up elaborate traps. No reason at all that a woman couldn't do that just as well as a guy could.

Strangely i could see the Murdoc character being played by a female actor. Disturbing and slick. Murdoc of the 80's was slender and casual but chaotic. The same could easily be played by a female. In fact it would be even more disturbing!

Easily? I think women are more dangerous that way.

Considering to what We can see in reboot till now it doesn't really matter if Murdoc will be male or female because he/she will probabbly will die in just the first episode, killed by Mac's team
