Yes, I read alot of books. Too many! Anyone know if they ever published MacGyver books? Just wondering and if so, where can I purchase them. I can look in my local library.

There was only ever one MacGyver book published called "MacGyver on Ice" it's pretty hard to come by, but Amazon has 4 second-hand copies available. It's pretty expensive though.

On the other hand we have a whole Library full of Fan Fiction stories which you can read. wink.gif

Two of my stories -- "Phoenix Rising" and "Aftershocks" -- are novel-length; "Up a Long Ladder" is a novella. I have all three as single pdfs if you prefer doing your reading offline.

I've read "MacGyver on Ice", and it was written before the character had really been developed -- it's an interesting artifact, but the title character bears little resemblance to Mac, at least for me. I can believe that Mac knows how to knit, but I'll never buy that he's obsessed with military history, or that he'd succumb to PTSS.

I once held a joke panel dicussion for "Over-Readers Anonymous". Each person started out by saying, "Hello, my name is [ ], and I have a problem." We discussed the following problems that day:

1. Not enough time to read.
2. Not enough bookshelves, no room for more.
3. Books getting expensive.
4. Favourite authors not writing good books any more.
5. Favourite authors not writing anything any more!
6. Too many bad books, trying to learn to give up earlier when a book's not worth reading.
7. Favourite genres included "guilty pleasures".
8. Spouse/partner liked the same books, got into fights over new releases.

Oddly enough, no-one there, including the moderator (moi) actually regarded the reading itself as a problem . . .

I'm trying to do my part in alleviating the sore lack of good MacGyver fiction Out There.
I'm always looking for some to read myself! smile.gif

I'm actually into reading books based on movies. I almost have every Indiana Jones book including the Young Indiana Jones books, two books of Xena.
The North and South trilogy of John Jakes. I was into Love and War until chapter 15. The book is over one thousand pages.
Clive Cussler's Sahara, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Rocky I-III, Independence Day, Godzilla, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Jurassic Park and The Lost World, one book of 24 and three books of Lost and the original War of the Worlds of H.G. Wells. Besides those the only three books I have that aren't based on films are Meg, Utopia and Prey. I also have the translated version of A Ghost In The House of Betty Ren Wright.

Last books I bought were descriptions of World War I and II with a vision on how the circumstances were in Belgium in particular. Nearly finished the first one, though it's been nearly two weeks now.

I usually begin enthousiastic but it takes a long time before I actually finish a book. It all depends on the very little time I have. Haven't touched Love and War for almost two months now. But that's how it goes with me and reading.

I love books.

I love reading to my kids and with my kids and I read a lot for fun when I have the time and also when I am studying to prep for school.

I like historical dramas like North and South and other stuff by John Jakes, and I like Jane Austen books, and Gone With the Wind and To Kill a Mockingbird. I like reading biographies and history books, and the Bible. Then there's counseling and theology and Biblical studies books from graduate school. My husband and I have a lot of books from over the years.

My daughter is getting into adventure and science books so that has been fun for us. biggrin.gif She loves MacGyver!!!!! I was telling her about reading fanfiction for MacGyver.

I'm working my way through the collection of 'Man Fron UNCLE' books right now. The challenge isn't in reading them (none of them are longer or thicker than an Irish cookbook-joke and no offense to our Irish friends) the hardship comes in finding them.

I've ordered them off various internet sites, amazon or individuals, and invariably, I get original paperback prints in return. It shocks me that these books have never been reprinted, in view of how insanely popular the show was and is.

I guess reading just isn't as popular as viewing!

MGOD mentioned Clive Cussler... I love his books. I have um, more than I can count at the moment... scattered all over my apartment. 'Sahara' started me reading his work, and wonderful action and storytelling kept me hungry for more.

Tolkien, King, Elrod, Zelazney, Cornwall, Gordon... my tastes focus mainly on science fiction. I wish I had more time to read, and more good books to read. They're harder to find now than they used to be! smile.gif

I just ordered half of Sherman Alexie's titles from the library -- I told myself it was for character research, but really it's because I want to wallow in his writing.

Recently I've been reading Scalzi, and re-reading Ivan Doig, Jonathan Raban and Ursula LeGuin. Anyone who loves truly gorgeous writing is encouraged to pick up any title by any of them!

As an English major, you can imagine that I have a voracious appetite for the written word. I read mostly the classics, but I will occasionally read a well-crafted mystery involving a unique location such as those written by Tony Hillerman. I also love biographies, history, and psychology. I want to read some of the Stargate novels available, and I wish there were more MacGyver novels, but I can't complain when there is a wealth of fanfiction to substitute that need.

I think if I ever have enough time to actually start reading, I think I might get into Stephen King maybe one day. Have read some books about him: The Green Mile, Salem's Lot, The Girl That Loved Tom Gordon (can't remember if that's his though). And than of course the Harry Potter books and Lord of the Rings and other LOTR-like books. I've seen some books based on it but involves characters related to Gimli. It seemed interesting.

Stephen King is one of my favorite authors. I haven't read all his books but I have read quite a bit. (Yes, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is his) I usually read an SK book every other book I read (or so). I was going to go back and read all the ones I haven't read in the order that they were written, but then I heard that JJ Abrams is going to make a movie of The Dark Tower so I will probably read that next.

Currently I am into mysteries set in different time periods. Right now I am reading The Alienist by Caleb Carr.

Oh, yes, I've always got my nose in one book or another!

I read a bit of everything... politics, history, current events, novels, religion (typically history or analysis of religion, such as books by Karen Armstrong, Marcus Borg, and John Dominic Crossan. John Shelby Spong is another favorite.) I especially like true stories of people who have done something extraordinary or have just followed a very unusual path in their life. Some of my favorite autobiography/memoir books: "Dispatches From the Edge," by CNN reporter Anderson Cooper, "Leap of Faith," by Queen Noor of Jordan, and "Reunion," by Tom Hayden. Right now, I'm reading "River Town: Two Years on the Yangtze" by Peter Hessler, a former Peace Corps volunteer. Oh, and I can't forget HARRY POTTER! I've read that series at least five times, and I never get tired of it. I don't have a lot of time to read, because I'm in school.
