Ok, RDA refused to make an appearance on the reboot.

Ok, why not have Bruce McGill and RDA make an appearance together as BAD GUYS? No reference to their previous MacGyver characters. Just have them play completely different characters. BAD GUYS! On the SEASON FINALE or the one before it. Just ONE appearance.

RDA refused once already and he's not going to change his mind even with Bruce around. You'd probably hope Bruce might be able to talk Rick over but that is not going to happen. Let alone they would be interested in appearing as bad guys in a show they originally starred in as good guys. Contrast seems interesting but if I wanna see RDA and Bruce together, I'd watch a Jack Dalton episode.

Ok, maybe not bad guys..... maybe they could make a peripheral appearance as two grumpy old men........

Grumpy old men ? sad.gif Not very exciting ,is it ? We need to remember them (and I'm sure they want to be remembered ) as they were in MacGyver but not as grumpy old men...I think. You'll see when you are 60 something DXS...

Anderson said no not to appearing as the aged Angus MacGuyver, which was never intended, but to appearing in the show at all.

They could actually have some fun with RDA being something like a wise old retired agent who gives (new) MacGyver some special advise. It would be like an in-joke - we'd all know it was a passing of the baton.

But as already mentioned, I don't actually think RDA want's anything to do with this show. Of coarse he could always change his mind.

Bruce has quite a prolific film career, so I can't really see him being that interested in devoting time to this show.

As for RDA, he seems a bit bitter about the whole thing. I really think Lenkov had intended to bring him in as MacGyver's father, but that won't happen now, so I do wonder who they'll cast for that role (or will they just abandon that side plot now?)

Remember, I'm from the original MacGyver group from the former PRODIGY service. Thusly, I have already reached 60. But I'm a "young" 60. Or so I am told.....

Some history:

We all started out on the former PRODIGY online service.

Then, when PRODIGY went POOF, an EMAIL discussion group got started. That was back in the MAJORDOMO days. Then the person hosting it couldn't host it any more, so we looked for another way.

Then Shari Feldman (my best friend) got it moved to Georgia Tech's server.

After a few years, I THINK..... someone who was on the email discussion list when it was hosted at Georgia Tech started the MacGyver Online web site. Can't remember the exact year, sometime in the low 2000's........

And now KiwiTech has kept it alive.

I really don't want to see RDA in this now, or MDB or Bruce, if I'm honest. I don't like the reboot, and I kinda agree with Rick for not getting involved. He liked the old Mac's aversion to guns, believed in it, and this new Mac might not use them himself, but I personally think the show still seems to try and thrive on violence and weapons. And new Mac doesn't seem to care.

The new Jack Dalton thinks he's Rambo, for heavens sake! ohmy.gif

Remember, DXS, Mac said once: Age is only in the mind.

I feel ya MacsJeep... The original MacGyver held life in high regard, even the lives of bad guys. And that's why I love the character... he's like the average person's hero. I don't see that with the reboot... and maybe they had to get rid of that mindset for the reboot to do well.

There just aren't enough heros like the original MacGyver anymore... sad.gif

I'll probably watch the reboot just because, but I wouldn't buy it on DVD or anything.

Except that was one of the qualities Lenkov was crowing about in interviews leading up to the pilot.

I distinctly remember in one interview he responded to criticism of "Hollywood hasn't got any fresh ideas" by saying they were remaking the show because they believed we needed this character back on TV, not because they'd run out of ideas.

Only problem is, that character isn't back on TV it's some completely different guy with the same name. No similarities at all.

This thing surely is not MacGyver. It's a bad mission impossible copy.

If we're making plans for RDA and Bruce, we need to make plans for Michael Des Barres also. Can't leave out Murdoc.

Why not just make season 8 and do it right?

What do you disagree with ?The fact that it isn't MacGyver or that it's a bad mission impossible copy ? Or maybe both ?

I share the same sentiments regarding this reboot.

Bruce and RDA isn't a bad idea and I'm sure the producers tried hard to get them, to encourage the new show but probably won't happen, especially with all the bad critics around. Leave it alone, this alternative version of Mac is just a small machine to generate profit, in my case I lost interest after episode 4 but I try to read the comments oftenly, I don't wanna miss such an important guess star if that would ever happen.
