I just wrapped up season 7 of Magnum PI. In the final episode his wife Michelle is part of the plot. I can't believe it wasn't until now that I recognised her. She played in the Pirates episode as Dr. Barbara Ortega. She also played in other episodes of Magnum. Another one in season 7 and the two-parter of season 2. Interesting though that she plays a Vietnamese woman in Magnum but seems to be of obvious Latina descent in MacGyver considering she spoke fluently Spanish in Pirates.

How on earth did they pull of making her look Vietnamese??

Like Denizen says. She did wore eyeliner. I most definitely will look back into her introduction episode, but maybe it was because of her short stature. Tom Selleck sure towered above her. Not sure if there was a mention of her last name but in flashbacks it is shown they married in Vietnam during or shortly after the war.

Ah well, probably she was just casted as many of the actors on MacGyver. Plenty of American actors playing other nationalities.

A few French words here, a few French words there,too.She was supposed to be French-Eurasian.
I've always found funny the way American people saw and portrayed the French in their series

The romance between Thomas (magnum) and Michelle was great. It was carried throughout the series up to and including the final episode.

Oh yes ,it was .No doubt about that.I agree with you MacFan of course.
Heroes need plenty of love interests and a 'special' woman too (=lost love, since they usually die , he can have other love interests... very convenient ,isn't it for the plot). What's more , for Magnum PI,he had a daughter he could take care of after Michelle died. It gave the character much more 'depth'.
It's just that being French ,I think American writers are very hard on us(The Odd Triple,Cleo Rocks with Jacques Leroux I suppose he was French too ,not sure though).Apart from the terrible foreign accent( from any country outside the USA I guess) ,they are usually traitors,bad guys, so ... I'm not particularly proud of being French but you know...fewer clichés (French word ,isn't it? )would be nice.

Well, they're probably harder on us: the bad guy in "Blood brothers", the guy who burns his tie in "Honest Abe" and MacGyver greets someone saying "Ciao" when he dislikes him (GX1 and Everytime she smiles).

I knew I saw Marta Dubois somewhere! Many years ago I watched all P.I. tv shows. I didn't remember she was in Magnum P.I. Also in Pirates she seems vaguely with almond eyes.

I remember the Ciaos too.As if whenever they wanted to be nasty,they used foreign words or used characters from other countries than the States (not only Russians, an easy target considering the past political tension... not defending Russia either though , just a thought).
Sad for us Europeans anyway.

I don't mind. Bad guys had to come from somewhere after all, not only Europe.
