Most of us are just glad its the weekend! Some of us don't even have one! Either way, its a time to unwind or go nuts. So tell us about it?

Posted by: denizen 6 October 2014 - 08:53 PM
This weekend, I am planning on buying a bunch of things for my house. We are slowly doing a makeover. New curtains, mirrors, paintings, new couch set. So far we have just started with the curtains. Now, its the rest! biggrin.gif

Well last weekend I had a pinball tournament. It was the Belgian Open Pinball tournament, the counterpart of Dutch Pinball Open. That's the tournament for next month and is one of the biggest tournaments in the world on pinball. They come from around world for this event. Mostly in and around Europe but also from the United States and even Australia sometimes.

For upcoming weekend I have no plans yet. Friday night to the movies, but other than that. I work on Saturdays and I just began working again after three weeks, since I've been in surgery. At least I'm recovered enough to go back to work. I first figured it would only last a week but due to complications it lasted about three weeks. Now on the end of the month, I have one more check-up. If everything's normal, I'll be fully recovered.

Posted by: denizen 7 October 2014 - 04:48 AM
Sheesh! Sorry to hear that mate.

I hope all is well with you. The pinball tournament sounds fantastic! Would love to see some pics of the event if you have. smile.gif

Posted by: Wheeljack 7 October 2014 - 09:45 AM
Just gotta ask, do they play The Who during pinball tournaments? tongue.gif

I have some surgeries upcoming in the near future, gotta get some adjustments to the ol bionic arms. It's on hold because I'm going to be staying somewhere else very shortly and need to be able to lift stuff.

Posted by: denizen 7 October 2014 - 10:34 AM
Bionic arms? Wow, i didnt know mate. Im sorry to hear. I hoe it all works out for you.

Posted by: Wheeljack 7 October 2014 - 07:07 PM
Oh no, I don't actually have mechanical arms, but as much abuse as they've took I like to joke that they're made from Adamantium. But I have nerve problems in both of them now and have difficulty with fine work, I fumble with buttons, counting change, putting stuff I'm working on together, etc. They also hurt and get so numb I can't grasp stuff, which really sucks when I'm working on a car and can't hold the ratchet.

This weekend I'm probably going to my friends house and work on things outside before snow gets here.

Posted by: denizen 7 October 2014 - 08:35 PM
Aha! Okay, noted! biggrin.gif

No not really. I think I have one with my back turned to the camera. It's usually in big room with all the pinball machines standing next to each other for free play and a seperate room for the tournament machines.

Uh, no. Why?

I know there's a pinball machine of Dr. Who, but it's an old one.

Because they made a song called Pinball Wizard that's all about pinball. Er, unless it has meaning that I don't get, I guess.

Ever since I was a young boy,
I've played the silver ball.
From Soho down to Brighton
I must have played them all.
But I ain't seen nothing like him
In any amusement hall...
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pin ball !

Sleeping with no alarm to wake me up!! Woohoo! Also have my son this weekend, with no work so we get to do things together, like go for a hike. Really looking forward to it smile.gif

Posted by: denizen 11 October 2014 - 10:20 AM
Sounds really great, perfectlykevin. Hope you have an awesome day, mate!

Posted by: denizen 17 October 2014 - 05:46 AM
Well as my reluctant search goes on, I hope to finally find a vehicle tomorrow! unsure.gif

Posted by: denizen 23 October 2014 - 09:10 PM
I finally found my car (Hallelujah!). So this weekend will hopefully have me continue my search for items to be replaced at the house (Doing a good ol' fixer upper).

We also have a few things to buy for our vacation over the December holidays. Planning on going to the coast so in need of some clothes and a few holiday treats. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 25 October 2014 - 08:58 PM
Congrats Denizen! My Dad and I are going to get rid of my truck next year because it's old and needs some body work done. Poor truck... it's served us well since 2001. smile.gif

I actually have no plans this weekend. My sister and I were going to go to the park and have a picnic, but she's coming over on Wednesday instead. So, I'm just playing with friends on XBL and cleaning up my apartment, going through things and repacking for next year.

Most likely this is what my friend and I will be playing all weekend. XD

Posted by: denizen 26 October 2014 - 10:43 AM
Thats great, Jedi! biggrin.gif

I love PVZ.

Posted by: denizen 30 October 2014 - 09:21 PM
This weekend has me doing a little less than the last few crazy weeks. I will be making an effort to get some new music (Don't know what though).

Still fixing up the house but the worst is over so its just a matter of acquiring small things to touch it up!

Hope you all have a good & safe one!

Posted by: Jediferret 1 November 2014 - 02:09 PM
I'm currently trying to teach myself basic Microsoft Publisher. I start a new temp to hire job on Monday, and though they're going to teach me to use it, I want to be somewhat prepared. I'm excited, I can just walk there because it's less then three blocks away from where I live. Woot! biggrin.gif

Other then that, I've been going through junk all weekend to get rid of some clutter (not that I have a lot). Oh, and hitting up some more game time with one of my friends.

Posted by: MDBfan 6 November 2014 - 11:25 AM
Congrats on your new job Jediferret! Have you started yet? Do you like it? smile.gif

Posted by: denizen 7 November 2014 - 01:19 AM
Yes, congrats, Jedi. smile.gif

Another crazy weekend with buying things for the house. Tomorrow I'm looking to get some solar powered lights for the garden. Seen some on sale & they look great!

Posted by: Duckt tape 7 November 2014 - 03:57 PM
I'm visiting my parents and today I saw my best friend who I haven't seen since summer and we had great time together happy.gif Tomorrow I'll go "shopping" with my mom and on Sunday we'll be celebrating Father's day

Thanks guys. happy.gif

Yeah, I started last Monday. I work for a local church as a receptionist/office assistant. It's pretty laid back, and because you learn as you go, it's very hands on. I'm still on a learning curve right now though.

I'm not really doing a whole lot this weekend, just the usual stuff... like clean, pay bills, maybe hit the grocery store. I'm such a rebel... wink.gif

Posted by: denizen 9 November 2014 - 10:21 PM
"Hit" the grocery store? So rebellious of you! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 10 November 2014 - 11:45 AM
Yeah, I hit grocery stores once a week, sometimes twice. boxing.gif

I'm currently in counseling. biggrin.gif

Excavator arrived and started to fill in around the foundation for the new garage. There will be a 'loft' upstairs and (eventually, funds permitting) a Bubble Top Hockey Game as the preferred and central piece of furniture. w00t.gif

Posted by: denizen 13 November 2014 - 04:09 AM
Wow! Sounds great, Joe!

Posted by: denizen 20 November 2014 - 08:32 PM
No plans for the weekend but glad its weekend nonetheless!!!

Woohoo! happy_dance.gif

Posted by: Rocket 21 November 2014 - 01:07 AM
I'm working tomorrow but we're having a one-day, mini games convention at our house on Sunday happy_dance.gif

Posted by: denizen 25 November 2014 - 09:37 PM
It's only Wednesday, I know but there is a great Christmas/Charity market happening this side of town this coming weekend. We are probably going to check it out.

Posted by: Joe SAKic 26 November 2014 - 02:58 PM
The garage continues to go up, up up. Should finish the sheathing this weekend. Although, the snow is coming down hard and heavy as I type .... but the weekend's forecast looks decent.

Posted by: denizen 26 November 2014 - 08:16 PM
Wow! Looking good, Joe!

Posted by: Jediferret 27 November 2014 - 05:52 AM
I'm going to play a game... what is Katie doing this weekend?

A: Sleep in, pay bills, do laundry, clean.
B: Go bar hopping and get drunk
C: Take advantage of after Black Friday sales
D: Work
E: Plans to do (A) but instead does absolutely nothing.

First one who gets the right answer gets "kudos" and a lifetime supply of... erm... air?

Posted by: denizen 27 November 2014 - 09:57 AM
B! Its B! laugh.gif

Or maybe E? biggrin.gif

Posted by: MDBfan 27 November 2014 - 01:22 PM
C sounds nice

B: hmm.bmp Just as long as it doesn't happen right before D blink.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 28 November 2014 - 05:12 PM
LOL! How did I manage to get the reputation of a drunk? XD

Actually, the correct answer is A, but it'll probably be E. So free air for everyone!!! Kudos goes to denizen. wink.gif

My plans for this weekend is playing Dragon Age Inquisition, and possibly Five Nights at Freddy's 2 - though I'm unsure if I want to brave the last game. dry.gif The first one was creepy enough as it was. tongue.gif

Posted by: denizen 8 December 2014 - 09:56 PM
I briefly played 5 Nights at Freddy's (The first one). It was okay. Not creepy enough for me. tongue.gif

I think one game I saw that looked relatively creepy on IOS was a game called Hysteria Project. Oh and Papa Sangre. Very experimental and well made. Highly recommend them although some found Hysteria Project a little short.

This weekend is the big one for me!!! I will be starting my holidays as of Friday and will be shooting off to see the Pet Shop Boys who are in town (My 80's icons) biggrin.gif

After that, its a crazy weekend of preparation because on Monday, I am off to the coast!!! Whoopee!!!! happy_dance.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 3 January 2015 - 06:57 PM
HAHA Five Nights at Freddy's is right up my alley. Animatronics, clowns, dolls and mannikins give me the creeps. A third installment of the game was just confirmed too. I haven't recovered from the first game... O_o

But, I'm currently happy with my Dragon Age Inquisition. Such a buggy, yet awesome game. smile.gif

But you don't intend to join your bathroom with the living-room, do you? Could happen accidentally, couldn't it?

Have you tried getting rid of the tiles MacGyver-fashion? Liquid nitrogen or something like that?

If I get it really wrong, the bathroom would become one with the kitchen...

In the absence of the proper equipment, I'm currently misusing a flathead screwdriver, a claw hammer and a lot of choice language that Mac probably wouldn't approve of!
Seems to be working though biggrin.gif

The Garage Project took a bit of a sabbatical over Christmas/New Years. But they are suppose to finish the siding this week and the Sparky is suppose to make an appearance as well. I've got some MacGyver-ish plans for the loft upstairs - a la season 1 ........

Posted by: denizen 9 January 2015 - 03:34 AM
i'm hoping to relax a little this weekend. Been a crazy week so some peaceful me time would be nice. Of course whether I get it or not remains to be seen! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 10 January 2015 - 11:57 AM
No plans for me.... yeah, I live a life of danger and excitement (NOT).

Though, next week, I'm hoping to go furniture shopping, as my apartment has been kinda empty since I moved in. I'm currently also looking at new cars, but I'm still torn between the Dodge Dart and Jeep Wrangler.

Decisions, decisions...

Posted by: KiwiTek 10 January 2015 - 02:40 PM
Seriously?? torn?

A Dart or a Jeep and your torn?

A MacGyver fan..... can't decide whether to buy a car or a jeep?

Isn't it blearily obvious?

the Dart of course!! doh.gif

laugh.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 11 January 2015 - 07:24 AM
HAHA! Well, the Dart is more practical... but the Wrangler is more fun.

Dart would be better for trips and gas mileage... but it's a Wrangler.

I need a Dart, but I want a Wrangler.

ARG!!! headbutt.gif

In the same boat as me. Know the frustration, Jedi. wink.gif

Went through it last year. I was close to getting the Dodge Caliber but ended up getting a Volkswagen Polo mostly due to fuel efficiency & affordable labor/parts.

At the end, weigh up your need for the car along with the pros and cons and youll make the best decision bazed on your practicality.

Good luck. smile.gif

Did a couple of 10km runs and then took to the lens and photographed some of the winter outdoor activities happening on this very cold and snowy weekend .....

I most likely will go with the Dart. As much as I love the Wrangler, I don't really need it right now. I'm still trying to get back on my feet financially, so the Dart is more cost effective. And if I just lease it for a few years, then I can get my Wrangler then.

One day... lol

However, the Viper will always be my dream car. But with my luck, I'll wrap it around a tree the moment I take it off the lot. XD So, I'll just keep a distance and look at it. Besides it gets a whopping 12 miles to the gallon. XD How's that for fuel efficiency? *sarcasm* Actually, that's about what I get on my truck, as far as gas mileage. HAHA

Edit: Terrible, terrible grammar.

This could potentially be nightmare weekend for me. I have to clean out my garage and my home too. Way to many boxes and junk around. Dreading it! unsure.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 23 January 2015 - 07:33 AM
I'm doing my usual, cleaning the apartment. I have today off, so I have a three day weekend. smile.gif So, I'm going to attempt to make Candied Maple Bacon Donuts.

I attempted to make chicken burgers last weekend, and they were disgusting. =P Though, I got some help from relatives that sent me recipes over FB for my next attempt. I knew eventually I'd have a flop. XD

Posted by: Wheeljack 23 January 2015 - 06:52 PM
Switching back to vehicles for a sec, a minivan can offer reasonably decent fuel economy AND you can haul stuff in it. Which is handy when you need to move, help a friend move, pick up furnature or whatnot. In my case it's great for hauling bikes, car parts, wood and building supplies. smile.gif Downside is it has no cool factor at all. sad.gif Not unless you're hauling something for someone, in that case you're a totally awesome hero! smile.gif

For me personally, owning a small jeep or a car would be impractical and near useless. Anything I saved in fuel would be eaten up by having to pay others or rent a truck when I needed to haul something. I maybe could make a jeep work, like put a trailer on it, but egh. :\

Jedi, there's other cars out there that look somewhat similar to a viper, but much more affordable. Also, go fast doesn't need to cost that much money. I use to own a monster sized engine, a Cadillac 8.2, which is only slight smaller than the Viper's. I paid like $100 for it. Never installed it in anything, but it would've been awesome. Point is, you can pay someone to build you something just as cool for a fraction of what a viper cost. Heck, you could built a batmobile for less. smile.gif

Bacon on doughnuts? WHY? Why would you want do do this? That's.... that's.... an abomination, it's like you're trying to punish your arteries AND your stomach! What next, fried chicken on birthday cake? Liver in your chocolate ice cream? I'm a person who will try anything, including insects and frighteningly moldy cheese, but this looks so unappetizing I'm not sure I would. And just look at that poor bacon that would've been so delicious on a sandwich, defiled with sugary goop! It's an obscenity, a crime against mankind.

I'm serious.

Posted by: Jediferret 24 January 2015 - 08:58 AM
I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Wrangler or Dart for what I want. This is a good opportunity for me to get what I want.

As for the Viper, I'm a long-time Viper fan. Have been since it was a concept car back in the early 90's. It's not something I'd ever own, just something I personally like.

I'm pretty sure that if that donut was sitting in front of you, you'd eat it. smile.gif

Posted by: Wheeljack 24 January 2015 - 03:51 PM
No, I don't think so. Not a huge fan of doughnuts in the first place, they're kinda lame compared to other pastries and desserts, just a gloob of sugary flour with more sugar "glaze" on top. But add bacon and it's a pox on humanity.

And I looked and behold a pale horse. And he who sat upon it was Death, and in his hand held a hot dog wrapped in a Twinkie. And all of Hell followed with him. Food Revelations 6:8

Posted by: Jediferret 24 January 2015 - 08:58 PM
That's fine... more donuts for me. smile.gif

Posted by: Joe SAKic 25 January 2015 - 08:38 AM
Maple Bacon? Must be a Canadian concoction. hmm.bmp ..... I learned long ago (the hard way) that all donuts tend to affix themselves to the love handles (for men, other regions for women) and are rather hard to un-affix in the short term. Carrots & celery with a low cal dip. anyone? unsure.gif biggrin.gif

Made another video this weekend, lots of 'icing' involved in this as well but no calories to be found .....

Posted by: Joe SAKic 25 January 2015 - 01:40 PM
My Grandma used to make the old fashioned yeast-raised donuts. They were deep fat fried and then she would shake them up with granulated sugar in a big brown paper bag while they were still warm. They were sooooo good and especially after a day out skating on the river in -20c temps. She also had a big bowl of jelly around for dipping them into. Yum!!! Don't know if you could even buy those today, if you wanted to - most of them are cake donuts. Krispy Kreme makes yeast raised, I think ... but they sort of went of business here in Canada - too much competition from the Tim Horton's franchise.

Jedi, I think you'd call those creations - Bressert! As in breakfast-dessert. Definitely a culinary macgyverism. thumbsup.gif

Posted by: denizen 25 January 2015 - 09:25 PM
That is one amazing Video, Joe! thumbsup.gif

Posted by: Joe SAKic 26 January 2015 - 05:47 AM
Okay, glad somebody enjoyed it ... makes the frostbite in my fingertips heal that much quicker. laugh.gif

..... you need to operate these drones with an ipad mini. Ipads are touch sensitive which means that
you have to expose(at least) your fingertips ... which in -30c windchill can get a might nippy. Still looking
for a multitasking glove that keeps the hands warm, and yet also maintains dexterity and permitting tactile
features as well.

Posted by: Jediferret 26 January 2015 - 08:20 AM
I'll make you boys a deal. I'm trying to expand my cooking "horizons", so to speak. Since my donut kitchen experiment is "too gross", why don't you guys send me some "healthy" recipes for me to try. I'll give it a shot and let ya know how it went. smile.gif

I guess i could find a healthy recipe. Ill need some time!

Posted by: Jediferret 26 January 2015 - 11:12 AM
Well, you don't "have" to, but if anyone has something, they can send it to me. As long as it's not chicken burgers... I still can't get the smell out of my kitchen.

My Dad laughed and told me that I shouldn't be using my smoke alarm as a cooking timer. Ha-ha Dad, ha-ha.

Have fun denizen! smile.gif

Thanks to you, Jedi you have officially added another question to my endless questions of mysteries of the universe.

Q: Why such a lovely person who loves ferrets is single?

This weekend is the missus' Birthday so we will be celebrating that. Sunday is going to be the funday. But my mum is still in hospital & hoping she will be home soon. sad.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 20 February 2015 - 05:15 PM
Awww... shucks... happy.gif

To be honest, that's a very hard question for me to answer, and it's been asked of me many times. lol I suppose I just haven't found what I'm looking for yet. I've had enough bad experiences to know what I don't want, so I don't really complain about being single.

I just kinda take the opportunity to grow, and do the things I personally love. If I happen to meet someone along the way, that's awesome. If not, no biggie.

Hope your Mom gets better soon, denizen. happy.gif

Have received almost 20,000 hits on my last video + it was picked up by the national news broadcaster and also one TV show. So .... thought I'd make another:

I simply said, '1 2 3 GO!' whistle.gif

Seriously, I made up a little MacGyverism with the drone where on the push of a button it released a small grapple full of $100.00 bills into the water. Why else would anyone jump into those frigid North Atlantic waters?

Not! Seriously, seriously, it was the annual New Years Day Polar Dip that takes place at precisely 12:00pm on January 1 - each & every year ... and so I strategically positioned the drone out over the water and awaited the horn blow that would send the Polar Dippers forward and toward the lens.

I almost blew it though because these whirlybirds are still quite a novelty and people had surrounded me to ask questions .... seemingly more interested in the drone then the main event. And it takes time to politely deal with them. Nevertheless, I managed to lift off at about 11:53am, fly around a bit to find the right light and angle and then await the great human 'splish splash'. party.gif

Q: Why such a lovely person who loves ferrets is single?

Well,whose fault is it gentlemen?

Posted by: Jediferret 22 February 2015 - 08:41 AM
Aww... lol It's not entirely the men's fault. I actually tend to keep to myself and I really hate dating.

Sadly, people misjudge this and think I'm anti-social, or self-centered. I'm not really, I'm just not socially graceful. I try to encourage people to get to know me first before writing me off completely.

I'm like an onion... I have layers. lolz

..... you need to operate these drones with an ipad mini. Ipads are touch sensitive which means that
you have to expose(at least) your fingertips ... which in -30c windchill can get a might nippy. Still looking
for a multitasking glove that keeps the hands warm, and yet also maintains dexterity and permitting tactile

Sorry if I was a bit slow to react,Joe.
Great videos ,I'm impressed. I was just wondering how you could do it.Thanks for explaining.

Okay, glad you've enjoyed them Tvero! Finally found some decent and conductive gloves to operate in the cold - http://www.glidergloves.com/ .... but not before I got 1st degree frostbite on my index finger last weekend. Ouch! First time for that and I can report that it hurts like hell ..... for a while, stays numb for several days, then the skin falls off in the affected area .... then it's all better and just like new! thumbsup.gif

Apparently a rainy weekend expected in my turf which I am perfectly fine with! It has been a heat wave so im going to enjoy the cooler temperatures. smile.gif

It's supposed to be really nice tomorrow. Sunny and warm weather. The cold, alone, doesn't bother me. I have my winter gear from living in NY, but... I do wish this snow and ice would go away. We're supposed to get freezing rain on Sunday. I'm getting all my errands and what not done today and tomorrow in case the weather is bad.

So... uh... denizen... wanna trade places? XD

Posted by: Joe SAKic 27 February 2015 - 06:15 PM
Shoveling .... off the roof and around the house. There are over 200cms on the ground .... step in the wrong place and you might quickly descend into a frozen quicksand.

Posted by: Jediferret 28 February 2015 - 05:53 AM
Wow... that's a lot. I don't think we ever got THAT much in NY. We'd get about... 3ft? Sometimes as much as 4ft. The snow really wasn't the problem... it was the ice. Lots and LOTS of ice. Give me snow over ice any day.

This is what my day usually started out in NY during the winter. Oh, the fun times...

I totally need to get to a convention here in the US, but I'm still playing catchup with my finances. I'm hoping as the year progresses, things will start to look a little better. Blarg...

Anyway, I got snowed in again. This is unheard of in KY. If you look close enough, you can see my truck buried under the snow. XD

The only thing I hate about having a truck is how high it is. Thankfully, I'm pretty tall, but there's a big hump of snow I couldn't reach... looks like my truck has a snow mohawk. XD

I have no plans this weekend, except staying in. I had yesterday off, and I'm only going to be in for a few hours today. Once I finished a few things, I'm heading back home... into my PJ's with a hot cup of cof... TEA!

Most of this should be gone by Monday, at least it better be gone by Monday... or there will be harsh language and fist shaking.

My sister felt lazy and didn't want to make pies this year (dang it). So she bought me one instead. Happy International Pie Day!!! smile.gif

Edit: I didn't mention this before, and I should have... duh... lol Three of those pies were Key Lime, and the one in the back was a Peanut Butter pie. Yes, they were amazing.

About the only pies they sell here are chicken & beef pies. wink.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 15 March 2015 - 10:37 AM
Really!? O_o

My sister and I usually just make our own pies from an old Disney cookbook we have. It was among the many retro Disney items we found when going through some left over stuff from the move to KY.

I even found a hotel directory that dates back to 1986. XD

Posted by: denizen 15 March 2015 - 12:20 PM
Sounds awesome. Its a different country so people are into different things.

Obviously we have our pies. (Was a little sarcastic) but not the caliber of US.

Savoury: beef, lamb, chicken, cheese, curry, fish
sweet consists of apple, pecan, custard, peppermint and thats about it. The rest are tarts, cakes etc..

Now the US have peanut butter, Berry, cherry, and who know what else?!

My whole life i have never had the luxury of tasting a cherry pie. Would LOVE to have but im so in the wrong country.

Even if i was to make one, i have no recipe and id have to wait for cherries to come back in season. wink.gif

Always remember Twin Peaks and Agent Cooper going to a diner and getting their cherry pie and thinking...Hmmmm.... biggrin.gif

Fruit crumbles sound a lot like our fruit crisps. They're sooo good with vanilla ice cream while they're still somewhat warm. Great fall dessert.

Never had cherry pie denizen? ohmy.gif I can certainly find you a good recipe if you'd like one.

Meat pies are not a big thing here in the US, for some odd reason. We have chicken pot pie, and shepherd's pie, but that's about it.

Peppermint pie? O_o That's different... that one I must check out.

You were very close to take that picture ... it wasn't the photo session though ,was it? Thanks for sharing .

I think his new look (short hair and a goatee) suits him.

Hoping to get more very soon MacFan. I mean if you will of course smile.gif You are lucky. And I 'm very envious.

Posted by: MacFan092985 18 April 2015 - 05:27 AM
Correct, it was not the photo session. The photo was taken during the Friday Night Meet & Greet. This was the first Meet & Greet I had attended and while the rules were NO PHOTOS NOR AUTOGRAPHS, I learned, from people at my table who had attended the Meet & Greet in previous years, that in reality photos could be taken if the celebrity didn't object, you just couldn't pose with them. I simply set my phone on the table, angled in right and snapped a few pictures.

Regarding his goatee, a lady I was sitting next to and I agreed that it really works with his short hair. If he still had long hair the goatee just wouldn't work.

I'll be getting my official photo with him either today (saturday) or Sunday. He's only posing for photos from 1200 - 1230 today and 1200 - 1300 tomorrow. I'll also be attending his Q&A Session this afternoon from 1630 - 1700.

I'll post more later, including a description of my interaction with him. He's so cool and friendly.

Meet&greets may be organized differently according to the countries. In Germany, we were only 20 people in a small room and he was alone with us ...(mostly women but he had nothing to fear smile.gif )We didn't take any photos but we had a pic of the group with him at the end .It lasted about an hour .What a treat cause I was sitting next to him...

Thanks MacFan.

Friday 04.17.15 was the first day of Starfest and while RDA wasn't signing autographs, most of the celebrities do not sign on Friday as is it only runs for about four hours (5pm - 9pm), he did attend the Meet & Greet, along with the majority of the other celebrities. The Meet & Greet can best be compared to speed dating, with each celebrity spending about five minutes at each table before being signaled to change tables. The tickets were limited to 125 and there were approximately 7 people at each table with one chair marked GUEST on a piece of paper that was zipped tied to the chair. At the end of the night I took said piece of paper to add to my Richard Dean Anderson / "MacGyver" collection. A little obsessive maybe, but hey why not. While each guest was supposed to only take five minutes, RDA took about ten at each table.

This is the logo for Starfest 2015. It's not clear as the lighting conditions weren't optimal in the main event room and I only had my phone on me. The logo is Robby the Robot from "Lost in Space" standing in front of a Stargate. It reads Starfest 2015 Meet And Greet.
user posted image

Here's a picture of RDA talking to the people at my table. Again, I think the lighting and the fact I just set my phone on the table, aimed and clicked without making sure it was properly focused. I wasn't trying to sneak taking pictures, I simply didn't want to be a distraction to others at the table.

Today, Saturday 04.18.15, RDA was running late for his photo shoot, so from what I heard, an event that was suppose to take approximately 45 minutes had to be crammed into a span of about 25 minutes, so their intention was to shoot us through pretty quickly, with very little time to talk with him, but as was witnessed the previous night at the meet and greet where RDA took about ten minutes per table instead of the allotted five, he made the time to briefly talk with each of us.

Here's a picture of the picture of me and RDA (starfest does not offer digital copies of the photos just the photo itself . . .they're kind of behind the times). You'll see that I'm wearing my naked biker jacket, the one I bought from the company that made the same jacket worn by RDA on "MacGyver". Right before we posed for the picture I asked him if he recognized the jacket. His answer was, "It's vaguely familiar". sad.gif Then as the picture was being taken I quickly told him the story behind how I got and he enthusiastically said he thought it was "Great that you got one".

I'm planning on getting his autograph tomorrow morning, where I hope to be able to talk with him a little more. I'll post details as soon as I can.

He's always late ,I mean he likes talking to his fans and it takes (more) time ,he's really nice.
In Germany there were only 2 groups of twenty people for the m&g (one on Friday ,one on Saturday) but as I said ,he was alone and since most of us weren't Native speakers it was more difficult to communicate than you in Denver .In my group, some happy few didn't say anything ...shyness ,language barrier? But they enjoyed this extraordinary moment :an hour with RDA smile.gif

Thanks again for sharing MacFan.You'll have a little more time to speak during the autograph session (I hope).

We had the same situation in Auckland Armageddon, although the time issue wasn't from him talking to people. We were being pushed through like cattle but the signing was much more relaxed and each person got a few minutes to chat with RDA.

Had the same problem with that at Armageddon too.

Posted by: tvero 19 April 2015 - 02:13 AM
"Like cattle" KiwiTek that's the word.

RDA apologized because we had to wait and wait and wait ...I think he's an impatient man so he understands.

These conventions are a great idea but they treat us like cattle (and make a lot of money out of it ).

Today, Sunday 04.19.15, was the third and final day of Starfest 2015 and it was a great day. happy_dance.gif I was able to get RDA's autograph, something I wasn't planning on doing, given that I already had his autograph from 19 years ago (my god, it's been 19 years?) but I wanted to show him something I've been working on and the only way I figured I'd be able to do so was to have him autograph it.

It's after 11pm as I type this and I'm exhausted, having assisted some friends of mine with their booth in the Starfest dealer room all weekend, so I'll type more and post some pictures as soon as I get some sleep. dry.gif

I think that's true for anyone. My friends live all over the place, so we don't get to see each other often. We do stay in close contact though, and use Xbox Live as a social medium.

@denizen - I like Joss Whedon as well... big fan of Buffy and Angel! smile.gif I'll have to check the movie out then!

I grew up watching The Avengers, with Steed & Peel that is. Brilliant Brit spy-fi with an excellent Jazz - esquei score. Glad you enjoyed your version, Denizen! biggrin.gif The doors for the garage finally came in this week (about 2 months late due to stock issues and custom sizes). Posted by: denizen 27 April 2015 - 09:09 PM
biggrin.gif Yes I loved the British Avengers too, Joe. But I grew up on comic books as a kid. Thor & Iron Man were my heroes. So naturally one tends to gasp at the sheer sight of placing all of them in one movie. Never thought that day would come. biggrin.gif

By the way, it looks great Joe. Wow! thumbsup.gif

Posted by: Joe SAKic 28 April 2015 - 08:43 AM
Well, there ya go. I could never read a comic book to save my life! laugh.gif I've lived my life outdoors from an early age and nature provides any 'comic' relief that I've experienced in my life. biggrin.gif But I'm a severe minority for that .... and envy those that can sit down and become totally absorbed by the wonderful, imaginative art of those publications ... not to mention how they've come to life in recent decades with the fantastic evolution of computer graphics. Most excellent!

Posted by: denizen 28 April 2015 - 09:17 AM
Nothing wrong with that. I guess i never had much opportunity to explore the world. Mostly due to my location & my limited resources/funds.

Bearing that in mind, i think its great that you see the world "out there".

Posted by: Jediferret 28 April 2015 - 09:46 AM
My mother liked that version of The Avengers too. She liked Emma Peel. lol I, sadly, don't remember it.

I'm actually not a big comic book person (sorry). I was always a video game nerd. Sadly, most video game adaptions are terrible. Though I am a big Rogue fan from X-Men, and I loved Wonder Woman as a kid. My favorite heroine of all time is Claire Redfield. I loved her so much, I named my cat after her. smile.gif

I lived in a suburb, so going out meant going to the mall... which I was never a mall person. Far too many people. My family and I did travel a lot, but we usually bounced between upstate New York and Florida... every now and again, we'd go to Ocean City, MD. Somehow we always got stuck going on biker weekend. XD

I'm laptop shopping this weekend. I'm finally replacing my 10 year old computer! Wahoo!

Yeah, ironically, I think we 'lived' outdoors because it was cheaper. My mom was a single parent and money was often at a premium. So,,, we made bows from willow branches & string and arrows from goldenrod stems. Tadpoles were captured in a plastic bag and salt shakers were used to capture birds. What? Yes, it was common tradition for parents to inform kids that if you could sprinkle salt on a bird's tail .... it would be yours, under your control. We had hours of fun and improving our stalking/sneaking skills and in trying to salt the tweety bird's tail. Not!! unsure.gif biggrin.gif

This weekend I will be watching the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race whizz past my road end biggrin.gif

@denizen - It's a Droid Razr. Nothing really happened to it. It's just wear and tear from using it for four years. The SIM card kept popping out, so I forced it back in with tape until I could get a replacement, which is a Droid Turbo.

Once I figure out what laptop I get, I'll let ya know. lol I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get the Dell XPS though.

Posted by: denizen 2 May 2015 - 10:39 AM
Cool!

Posted by: denizen 8 May 2015 - 03:45 AM
Well I'll hopefully be going to an air show tomorrow. Not my usual one I go to. I'll take some pics if I go!

Posted by: Jediferret 8 May 2015 - 04:01 AM
That's cool! I never been to an airshow. I hear those are awesome to watch!

Posted by: denizen 8 May 2015 - 04:10 AM
I love them! biggrin.gif

Fun for an outing. The planes, the show, the people, the merchandise, the food, the vibe! It all works! smile.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 8 May 2015 - 04:31 AM
An airshow sounds like it would totally be a blast!

The Kentucky Derby just finished up here, last weekend I think. The Bourbon Festival and the Music & Arts Festival are coming up soon. The town I live in has three major bourbon distilleries, which is what the town is famous for. However, the smell of cooking bourbon is pretty awful. I can't sleep when they're cooking because it's so strong it will wake you up at night. Bleck... =P

Well, I managed to make it to the air show on the weekend. Got there a little late and so I had to walk about a mile to the show! Yes, there were about 30000-40000 people there! Sheesh! By the time we got there we were exhausted. Didn't take too many pics but here is one of the many choppers they had.

All in all it was a great show. Amazing planes too. I noticed they had the same P51 from the other show there too!

I thought you'd say ferrets. biggrin.gif

Cool, Jedi

Posted by: Jediferret 17 May 2015 - 08:52 AM
My sister's influence. She was sitting next to me when I made that post. Blame her. XD

Posted by: denizen 18 May 2015 - 04:46 AM
Oh my! Are all your family members fans of particular furry creatures? I suspect your dad is a dog person. smile.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 18 May 2015 - 06:17 AM
My mother was biggest ferret person in our household. She would often go to ferret shows to support a local no-kill shelter, and take in rescues. We were also called a lot to people's houses to pick up stray ferrets.

I have two older sisters, and they both love ferrets too. The oldest is a fan of horses, and the middle sister just likes anything that's cute and fuzzy. Dad isn't really a big animal lover, but animals seem to love him. lol

Posted by: denizen 18 May 2015 - 08:33 PM
Would you believe there are no ferrets in South Africa?

Posted by: Jediferret 20 May 2015 - 10:31 AM
Really? O_O I think they're illegal in some countries. I know they're illegal still in California. The American Ferret Association has been trying to make ferrets legal there for years. But don't get me started... XD

I'm thinking of volunteering down at the Humane Society because they get ferrets every now and again. I can't have pets at my apartment, so I thought it would be cool to just volunteer down there instead. I need to get some shots first though... I have bad allergies. sad.gif

Posted by: denizen 20 May 2015 - 12:59 PM
What kinda shots? biggrin.gif

Facing a ferret would call a need for bourbon. laugh.gif

Posted by: denizen 22 May 2015 - 04:03 AM
Decided to cave in and buy a game console. Xbox. So I hope to play something this weekend depending on the time I get. smile.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 22 May 2015 - 05:04 AM
HAHA! Most likely allergy shots and vaccines in case I get bitten by something... nasty. Ferrets are okay actually... they just like feet. wink.gif

You get the Xbox One? Or Xbox 360? It's been a tug of war when it comes to a new console. Half of my friends want me to get the One and the other half wants me to get the PS4. LOL I'm probably gonna get the One.

Posted by: denizen 22 May 2015 - 06:07 AM
Actually decided on the 360. There was an awesome deal which I could not resist. Haven't been in the "Game" for so long there are a ton of games to get. smile.gif And for great prices too!

Posted by: Jediferret 22 May 2015 - 06:13 AM
The 360 is what I currently have. I need a new controller though. Mine's a bit... beat up. XD If you play online, you can shoot me a friend request. I'm a terrible gamer, so I just kinda play for fun.

Posted by: denizen 23 May 2015 - 05:43 AM
Sounds awesome, Jedi. Wil have to connect first but ill have to get games first too. biggrin.gif

What online games do you frequent? Perhaps from there, i can see if there is one i might be getting.

Posted by: Jediferret 23 May 2015 - 05:30 PM
My friends and I play online a lot, so I have lots of multiplayer games. Follow the link and it should list games that I currently have. If you're looking for kid friendly, we're always looking for people to play Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warefare. It's adorable. lol

Have it on my iPad. Its a cool game but i like most games.

Will have a look! smile.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 25 May 2015 - 06:30 AM
HAHA! Gotcha! I have certain franchises I like, but I will give any game a shot. I got Army of Two: Devil's Cartel for free on XBL a few weeks back, and it's actually rather fun. My friend and I are just about to finish the co-op on Insane.

I'm sure you hear that Hideo Kojima left Konami right? That reminded me of when Shinji Mikami left Capcom after Resident Evil 4. The franchise tanked after he left.

Posted by: denizen 25 May 2015 - 11:17 AM
He did Metal Gear, didnt he? I loved those. Played the first 3 but since i never had a ps3, never got around to MGS4.

Posted by: Jediferret 26 May 2015 - 03:56 AM
Yeah, he was working on the newest Silent Hill game as well... which got canceled. I played MGS4, but didn't really care for it. LOVED the first three though, especially Snake Eater.

Posted by: denizen 26 May 2015 - 05:18 AM
Snake Eater was very good. Emotional story. Great music but the one that did it for me was MGS2.

Posted by: Jediferret 26 May 2015 - 08:03 AM
The second one was so convoluted I had to play it twice to figure out what was going on. lol But it was a blast! I just like the third one because I love the boss battle with The End. Best sniper battle EVER!

I remember the first MGS game made me feel like a complete doofus because I couldn't find Meryl's codec number. Took me days to figure out the "CD case" they were talking about in the game was the actual game case. Clever jerks. XD

Posted by: denizen 26 May 2015 - 11:24 PM
biggrin.gif Yeah, the first was an interesting one indeed. I enjoyed it. After that, I outsourced the original Metal Gear game from MSX just to recapture the hype surrounding it. It was good.

Used to be a big nut back in the day for the original Tomb Raider games. The first 3 were my favourite but disliked the sequels that followed. Heard good thing about the new one but haven't seen it yet.

I like survival horror too but with a twist. Like the original Parasite Eve games to me were rather awesome. This is going back to PS1 now. Loved Silent Hill 2's story line too. Resident Evil? I like the first 3 from the days of the PS1.

Then there is Final Fantasy and to me the early games were the best. I liked 7 & 10 too but 3 was probably my best one to play.

Posted by: Jediferret 28 May 2015 - 04:51 AM
My brother in law got me into Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill. He is also a big fan of Tomb Raider. I never actually played any of the Tomb Raiders until recently though. I played the newest one. It was on XBL for free, and it was a really fun game. I know my friends had been impressed with it.

The PS1 was the first console I ever bought. I got it so I could get Jedi Power Battles. XD I figured it would just be easier to take a picture of my games. My sister had a GameCube, so I do have some GameCube games as well, but they're not shown. I have played Silent Hill 1 & 2, I just don't own them.

My Xbox 360 games has an entire shelf to itself. XD

Posted by: denizen 28 May 2015 - 06:09 AM
Very cool, Jedi. Some really nice games there.

If you still can play your PS1 games, I recommend getting your hands on Parasite Eve 2. Might be your cup of tea. Or coffee. biggrin.gif

Google it first.

I still have my PS2, but it's in storage. I'm hoping to move all my stuff into my living room in the near future. I'm a bit bound by a single ethernet port, so everything is still in my bedroom. Once I can afford to get a new router, I'm going to move to wireless.

Look out internet... XD

Parasite Eve 2 is actually on my list of PS1 games I need to buy. I want to get the original Silent Hill and the original Spyro game. Also my friend just told me yesterday that Resident Evil Zero is getting the HD remaster treatment for the new consoles. FINALLY! lol

Posted by: denizen 31 May 2015 - 09:54 PM
Thanks Jedi! He had a blast. biggrin.gif Lots of fun.

Cool about Resident Evil! Would like to see what they come up with.

Ah! I remember Spyro. Was a fun game

Posted by: Jediferret 1 June 2015 - 06:45 AM
I love Spyro! Jak & Daxter is also awesome. Find any new games for your Xbox yet? I HAVE to recommend Mass Effect. Mass Effect and Dragon Age are two of my favorite franchises for the 360. But I'm a sucker for Bioware games. They made Knight of the Old Republic. lol

Posted by: denizen 1 June 2015 - 09:58 PM
Hey Jedi,

Yup. Well a pal of mine at work is borrowing me a few games. Gears of War, Ninety Nine Nights, Mortal Kombat & Golden Axe. Havent tried any of them except ears of War. Yes I know there are already like 4 of them out. But it is awesome! Loved it.

Bought Aliens: Colonial Marines & the last Tomb Raider. The Game of the Year Edition with all the add ons & downloadable content. Still waiting for that to arrive though.

Mass Effect does look good. On my list. Will hopefully get that soon. smile.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 2 June 2015 - 04:34 AM
Gears of War is a blast. lol That was one of the first games I played on the Xbox. Such great memories! I had never played online multiplayer before and my first time playing, I forgot how to shoot. So my teammates turned on me and killed me. The friends I was with thought it was hilarious. lol

Believe it or not, one of my friends and I met in a random match of Gears of War. After we talked for a little bit, we found out we actually knew each other. He and I are both from the same area of VA. When I was working at a computer store, he and his Dad used to come in and talk to me. That was a loooong time ago. We've been good friends ever since. Honestly, what are the odds? lol

Have you ever played Portal? If not, you might like that one. It's a strategic puzzle game with a portal gun... and it's also incredibly funny. smile.gif

Posted by: denizen 2 June 2015 - 05:03 AM
Small world indeed. Haven't started playing online as yet. Hesitant to do so because im not quite there yet. When I am, then ill give it a go.

Heard of Portal but haven't seen or played it yet. Will add it to the list! smile.gif

I also really want to get my hands on the last Metal Gear. Ground Zeroes. At least before the Phantom Pain comes out.

Posted by: denizen 4 June 2015 - 09:36 PM
This weekend, I hope to get some time to play a few games I got. Not much time though but ill see what I can do. biggrin.gif

I have a full weekend of fun adult activities planned! First I'm gonna... pay bills, then I'm gonna clean my apartment, then go to the laundromat (I feel like I'm always there) and then grocery shopping! YAY!!!

Lawn mowing! I have 2.5 acres that I still use a gas powered push mower on. It takes about 4 hours to do .... and you do need some good lawn mowing beer to get through it .... something refreshing, and low in alcohol like a wheat or pilsner or the like. dancemachine.gif Oh, there's also a ribfest on here this weekend. BBQ rib vendors from all over North America. Yum! kicking.gif

Halfway through the week and I already know what's happening. Its going to be a relaxing one. Filled with window shopping and even an unhealthy lunch. McDonalds? Burger King? biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 24 June 2015 - 07:23 AM
HAHAHA! Sounds like what my sister and I do when she comes over on Fridays. We usually order something unhealthy, come back to my place and watch Supernatural. This Friday? I'm not sure what we're doing yet. All I know is Cracker Barrel is currently serving Strawberries N' Cream French Toast until August... and I want some! lol

Posted by: denizen 24 June 2015 - 09:04 AM
Holy Kazooie! That sounds good! smile.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 2 July 2015 - 04:36 AM
I actually may have figured out how to make it at home, but I'll have to experiment a little bit. I'll probably do that this weekend. I'll be stuck at home anyway because it's Independence Day weekend, and there's no way in hell I'm going out in that mess.

My sister comes over tonight, plus after work today, I'm off until Monday. I have a feeling I'll be on XBL most of the weekend playing New Vegas.

Posted by: denizen 2 July 2015 - 05:53 AM
Cool! Just be sure to hand over that recipe when you figure it out! French Toast recipe included!!! happy_dance.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 4 July 2015 - 08:02 AM
HAHAHA! Well, here's what I did and it came out okay. It was pretty tasty! At least, I thought so.

Katie's Strawberries and Cream Stuffed French Toast
(makes 3-4 servings)
1 Egg
3/4 Cup of Milk
1 Tablespoon Ground Cinnamon (this is to taste, because 1 tablespoon seemed a bit much for me)
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Pinch of Salt
1 small container of Strawberry Cream Cheese
6-8 pieces of bread

For the egg wash, mix egg, milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract and salt into a bowl. Make sure to mix well, because the cinnamon likes to gather at the bottom of the bowl and clump.

Take two pieces of bread and spread Strawberry Cream Cheese on both pieces (or just one if you want), put together and cut in half (or keep whole).

Spray some non-stick cooking spray into a pan on medium heat.

Place the stuffed bread into the egg wash until both sides are coated, and place into the pan. Cook until the bread is browned and toasted on both sides (don't want soggy french toast, do we?).

Place cooked french toast onto a plate, sprinkle some powdered sugar and serve with maple or strawberry syrup.

Be careful, cream cheese will be hot.

Posted by: Barry Rowland 4 July 2015 - 09:43 AM
That looks delicious....I'm going to try it out!

Posted by: Rocket 4 July 2015 - 10:20 AM
Strawberry cream cheese?!
I didn't even know that was a thing...

Sounds good though! thumbsup.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 4 July 2015 - 06:20 PM
HAHA! Yeah... the company that makes the kind I used (Philadelphia) has other flavors as well. So the recipe can be easily changed to another flavor... like blueberry, or even pineapple. They apparently have a chocolate one too, but I've never seen it at the store.

I had mine with a side of turkey bacon and coffee. wink.gif

Hah! Yes - chocolate Philadelphia arrived in the UK not that long ago, but fruity ones?
Not so far...

I've not tried the chocolate one, but it's supposed to be really nice :-)

Posted by: denizen 5 July 2015 - 10:01 PM
Sounds great, Jedi but Strawberry Cream Cheese is non existent in this country. wink.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 10 July 2015 - 05:51 AM
Hmmm... well, my way is actually just a shortcut. You can take regular cream cheese and whip it with some sugar. Then use sliced fresh strawberries (or other fruit) with the sweetened cream cheese in the middle.

The chocolate cream cheese sounds amazing! I'll have to hunt around for it.

Check out my video on the Baltimore Checkerspot butterfly. Considered an endangered species due to loss of habitat.

Posted by: denizen 12 July 2015 - 08:40 PM
Wow! That is an amazing video, Joe! Very sad to hear about the Baltimore Checkerspot butterfly.

It scares me to think that one day my son or even his might not experience the incredible creatures that we have been able to witness in our lifetime. My biggest concern being the rhino.

Posted by: Joe SAKic 15 July 2015 - 05:32 PM
Agreed. Poaching is one thing and then you have pollution, dwindling habitat & global warming all taking their toll. The Honey Bees have all but disappeared, now there is word that the bumble bees are disappearing at alarming rates, I mentioned the brown bat's sad plight, and on & on it goes.

Oh, I used to wake up to the beautiful haunting call of the Common Loon each and every morning. Guess what, they are declining rapidly as well, so much so that I've only heard it's song only once this summer - unheard of! We (humans) are all headed in a large bus towards a massive brick wall ..... and all anybody wants to talk about is 'who' will take the steering wheel.

As for the younger generations, well it appears they are far to interested in their personal communication devices, internet & gaming and could give a dam if a butterfly is near it's end or not ....... after all, someone can digitize anything these days. reproduce it on screen, and that's probably good enough for them.

Posted by: denizen 15 July 2015 - 09:50 PM
I don't necessarily agree. I know that the modern world has changed but that is not entirely their fault. After all, it is our generation that made that world. They have been brought into this life to accept that. But it is also our responsibility as parents to teach them the values of life including the creatures that occupy it. In the hopes that they can correct the mistakes our generations have made.

Passing the buck? Yes, but what other choice do we have? Far and few listen to the global concerns today.

Posted by: Joe SAKic 16 July 2015 - 07:14 AM
There's a great advert on local TV about getting off the couch, enjoying nature and the outdoors. It gives a website address but with a caption "Please do not visit this site". Meaning don't waist anymore time indoors .... get out and enjoy. I really think Nature/environmental Conversancy should be a mandatory course along with reading, writing, & arithmetic in grade school. Kids have great ideas but they need plenty of exposure to gain those 'deep roots' interests.

Posted by: Jediferret 16 July 2015 - 01:17 PM
Have you thought about volunteering at a local park, or research forest for nature walks?

Here in KY, Bernheim is always looking for volunteers. You can walk in nature and educate people at the same time!

It's so lovely there in the cooler months, especially when the butterflies are out. My sister and I go there for walks and picnics. Here's a pic I took of the Canopy Tree Walk! Best yet, they're free during the week, so you can come and go as you please during normal hours.

They even have a neat little cafe that serves health food grown in their own gardens.

Posted by: denizen 16 July 2015 - 08:55 PM
Sounds great!

Posted by: Barry Rowland 17 July 2015 - 03:30 AM
That's sure pretty! I love walks in the woods. The part of Penna. that I live in has parks all over the place, from lakes to ridges. It's great entertainment and you can't beat the price (although I wish ours had cafes!).

While I never got into "Supernatural", there's going to be a "Supernatural" convention here in Denver in a month or so, I forget the exact date. I do know that's it's going to be very expensive to attend.

Hehe Jedi, I used to run Supernatural.tv and the Supernatural virtual seasons. Mum got sick and Buddy tv made me an offer for it I couldn't refuse, as I didn't have time to take care of it anymore, but I still watch the show. The site's a bit pants now, though, and not many people seem to post anymore. sad.gif

Have you met any of the cast? I've met a few, Misha is my favourite as he's such a funny guy in real life. He kinda reminds me of RDA when he does a stage talk, as he often just goes off on random funny things. I got a full blown hug off him!

I haven't met any of the cast. I'm not much for one to meet celebrities, or actors. Though I would love to meet Jared and Jensen in the future, along with RDA (of course) and Corin Nemec.

Oh yeah, I'd be a happy fangirl. lol

Did you see the candlelight vigil fans did for Jared at the San Diego Comic Con? That was awesome.

For those who don't know, it was in honor of Jared's Always Keep Fighting t-shirt campaigns (one just recently ended a couple of days ago). You can read about it https://twloha.com/blog/jared-padalecki-always-keep-fighting/.

I've met Jensen a couple of times, and Jared once. They were both very quiet, but then the first time some fangirl had jumped on Jensen off a balcony, so I guess he was a bit dazed by it all! Here's me with a few of the cast past and present. Just look at Misha's expression - he's nuts lol!

I'm going to be working the hot ramp at the Rocky Mountain Airshow, where I will be marshaling airplanes in and out all weekend. w00t.gif

For those in Colorado who are thinking about coming out and for those out of state and/or the country who just like airshows and aircraft, you check out http://www.cosportaviation.org for more information.

I've worked the ht ramp at this specific show twice before and have always had a great time.

Long, hot days directing aircraft, it doesn't get better than that.

Heehee! Awww... they sound adorable though!

When I owned ferrets, they were naughty... and spoiled. lol

I dunno what I'm supposed to do today... all I know is my sister is coming over, and I'm still REALLY tired. I'm feeling kinda lazy right now.

This about how my morning is going... XD

I'm off to Sheffield tomorrow to see Chris Judge and Michael Biehn. I'm a bit scared of the latter...tongue.gif

Posted by: MacsJeep 16 August 2015 - 02:02 AM
I had a great day yesterday, and Chris Judge was on top form. What a totally lovely and very funny bloke! He spoke quite a bit about RDA, including their "gas" competition, which was nice, as when we saw Richard a few weeks ago, he said if we ever met Chris to ask him about it!

He got asked from his point of view who was the naughtiest on set, as most people actually thought he was. He smiled at that and said no way, Rick was terrible! If there was food on set, Rick was the first to start food fights with it, or if they were using a muddy set, he'd start throwing it around at people hehe!

Basically, he said RDA was a big kid on set - which is funny, as I saw him say the very same thing in an interview back in his MacGyver days!

Chris also talked about the episode were they swapped places, and how Richard had gone over to his trailer and they'd worked out how they were going to play the episode, and scenes etc. While RDA didn't have a lot to learn as Teal'c is very stoic, Chris said he'd gone back and watched lots of Mac to pick up all of Richard's little expressions etc!

All in all, a lovely day!

Posted by: Jediferret 16 August 2015 - 03:47 AM
That's sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

I watched an interview with Chris and he talks about how the fart war started when he was on MacGyver with RDA, and how RDA let one rip during the face-to-face scene in Live and Learn. I've had the worst time trying to find that interview as well. lol

Sounds like you had a blast! biggrin.gif thumbsup.gif

Posted by: MacsJeep 16 August 2015 - 04:23 AM
It was really nice, and very relaxed too! Michael Biehn from Terminator/Aliens etc looked really intense and scary, and yet when you met him, he wasn't at all. He stopped our photo shoot so he could have a dance to You Can Call Me Al that was playing in the background!

Chris is such a teddy bear, though! He says everyone knew that Rick (as he calls RDA) was like the king of gas in Hollywood, and and so Chris was determined to win, so he was going home at night and concocting recipes with bran and slimfast and other things to make his more loud and smelly! He said one day that had to stop filming because the crew couldn't stand it, and MGM found out about the downtime and sent a memo saying that had to stop - but from what he said, he and RDA didn't tongue.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 18 August 2015 - 11:49 AM
Oh man... the poor crew. XD

I could see that one... EVERYONE CLEAR OUT! Rick and Chris are at it again!

Add in Jared Padalecki and there might be nothing left but a crater.

Trying to win the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition and whose deadline ends next midweek. Was a runner up last year and need to step it up a tad. More MacGyver tactics needed to improvise, cut corners and compete with those who have an inside track and $100,000 worth of equipment. It can be done, you need some luck and a whole lot of patience. smile.gif

Hopefully I will be going to that air show on Sunday. If I'm there, i'll take some pics for sure! thumbsup.gif

Posted by: Joe SAKic 21 August 2015 - 05:06 AM
Ha, ha now you're thinking - aliens indeed. biggrin.gif The problem is that Photoshopping is a big no-no and they
are always suspicious and on the hunt for something 'out of line'. You really need the deer nursing her fawns
on a rocky point near a lake with morning mist and with the sun breaking through and magically illuminating
the subjects with snow-capped mountains in the distant background. That's what it takes .... that 'something' extra.
I think it was Ansel Adams who once said that you don't 'take' a photograph, you 'make' it. Great food for thought!
Have fun at the airshow ... a mind-boggling number of photo ops at those extravaganzas!!!

Posted by: denizen 21 August 2015 - 05:22 AM
Thanks Joe, I will.

Here's some food fort thought. I remember watching an episode of BBC's Jonathan Creek where they go on a badger watch. Sitting somewhere literally for hours just for that perfect moment when they come out.

Perhaps you need to go out to the woods for the night, just before sunrise and hopefully catch that magic moment. (Then again, you probably already do that)

Posted by: Joe SAKic 21 August 2015 - 06:18 AM
Yes, that's the ticket! You need to either sit and wait or stalk. There's pros and cons to both methods. In stalking you cover more ground but are more apt to startle and end up with a challenging shot to 'macgyver' under extreme time constraints. Sit & wait is ideal for setting your equipment and choosing an apt background ..... but you never know if/when/how they'll show up and so time can become an issue - especially with a deadline looming. All fun though and with that constant carrot dangling of getting thee money shot.

I have a 12ft step ladder that I use for in the back of the property - the deer often come into the field and the higher elevation is very useful in keeping them at ease - as they rarely look up at all. I need to build a machan, though. Is that word used in Africa, today? It's a Hindi/Urdu word for a type of elevated perch that was originally implemented for tiger hunting in India - one can be seen in the 'Ghost & the Darkness' film.

At any rate, it allows you to swing around 360degrees unobstructed where as on a ladder or in a tree you have either mobility or point of view issues. Yup, lots of room for improvisations/macgyverisms with this hobby - one just has to put their mind to it.

I wish I knew how to take good photos! I'm not too bad if its daylight, but once the light starts to go my shots are just blurred, and I have no clue how to stop it! Photographer, I'm not! tongue.gif

This weekend I think I'll probably be sulking as one of my cars just failed its MOT. I have to wait until tomorrow now until its stripped to find out the cost! sad.gif I'm also waiting for some SG1 dvds that are late arriving!

If you're using a point & shoot or phone camera ... there is not too much you can do in low light situations. Tomorrow evening around dusk, try squinting at something through the hole made by your curled up index finger and thumb while slowly rotating your head and attempt to make out definition, color, & detail. That's what you're asking a small camera lens to do and without the usage of tripod. Now try to open your eyes as wide as you can while keeping your head perfectly still - I bet you can see a lot more detail of everything you are attempting to look at. Finally - imagine that you looking at the same thing with eyes that are as big as coffee cups rims .... and you begin to see how the larger the diameter of the lens/eye can gather/channel/collect more light towards your brain and/or camera sensors and make it easier for them to discern detail and separate color. Not the best example, but probably good enough.

MOT we call MVI for motor vehicle inspection. Necessary but a bit annoying and there are plenty of unscrupulous mechanics looking to 'find' something that may not quite need adjustment or replacement yet. Better than the alternative though - India cones to mind - where it is just chaos and vehicles can literally fall apart on the highway before the owner might do anything about it.

I bought the SG-1 boxset in the Star Gate shaped box a few months back. So far - some really great episodes, many so-so, and a few that I never quite made it through. 1969, Citizen Joe, & A Hundred Days come to mind as good ones.

Posted by: MacsJeep 22 August 2015 - 02:34 AM
My camera is a Canon Powershot. You can use it as a point and shoot, or you can go into all the settings and light and - basically all the stuff I have no clue how to use! tongue.gif I think my problem might be that with shots in bad light, holding it by hand simply isn't steady enough? Are there setting I can change to help?

They rang first thing about the MOT - its just the rear wheel cylinders that need replacing, so the old boy will be back this afternoon. smile.gif Not bad really, for a thirty year old!

"Some" of my SG-1 discs arrived, but not season 1, which means I can't start watching grrrr sad.gif I have them up to about season five, but they're on video, which of course is now defunct and I haven't seen them since they came out. Our postal service sucks. Heaven knows where the rest of the sets have got to, they were all supposed to arrive last Thursday!

Posted by: Joe SAKic 22 August 2015 - 05:58 AM
Not really. Probably best to shift it into auto/flash mode and let the cards fall as they may. You could always 'MacGyver' a tripod by using the nearest available flat service and/or arm support to steady the camera and your natural shakiness. Otherwise get your 'business' done before light issues start to become challenging.

Well, the air show was a no go. Bad traffic where I live and then a huge queue at the show resulted in disappointment all round. Must have waited for about 2&1/2 hours. sad.gif

It's my own fault because I should have gone earlier but I couldn't imagine it was going to be that busy.

Oh well, I'll have to wait or next year now.

Posted by: Jediferret 24 August 2015 - 07:01 AM
Awww... that sucks.

I lived with a family of procrastinators, so that was a common occurrence. Sometimes you just never know how crowded a place is going to be until you get there.

When I was a kid, my parents would pile us in the car and drive with no destination. If I asked where we were going, Mom always said "we're going crazy". lol A lot of times we ended up in Colonial Williamsburg (they have GREAT peanut soup there) or Skyline Drive, which was part of the Shenandoah Mountains. I'm actually starting to miss my home state. lol

Posted by: denizen 24 August 2015 - 08:17 PM
On the contrary, that actually sounds like a lot of fun, Jedi! smile.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 26 August 2015 - 06:58 AM
That sort of thing is fun for me now! Not so much when I was a kid though. lol I was squashed between to older sisters, one of which I didn't get along with. XD There was always a fight breaking out...

But now I love trips... it means I can sleep in, drink as much coffee as I want and I don't have to work! Well... as long as the money holds out. heh heh heh

Speaking of sisters, the one I get along with is coming over on Friday, as usual... I'm making her Spiced Cake Balls. smile.gif But we're having Zaxby's for dinner. One just opened up in town, so we're gonna give it a try. I have high expectations for making a french fry laser... wink.gif

You call that heart-attack on a plate? I live in Kentucky... were everything is deep fried, including Twinkies.

Then there's Epic Meal Time, a show so gross, it will give you a heart attack just watching it.

You know nothing Jon Snow.

Krispy Kreme went bust in Canada. There 'are' limits as to how much grease & fat a human body can tolerate. laugh.gif Nevertheless, all good (comfort food) in moderation and especially in mixture with fresh fruits & veggies. I guess it's just that RDA/Mac set such a high bar when it came to fitness & clean living and thus so hard to get that mental image of anything different. But alas .... times change, people change and you are what you are, and what you eat. biggrin.gif

I think I might do a fair bit of writing if the weather is bad. My friend kinda put it to me to write a Mac/Stargate crossover after I mentioned my SG-1 dvds had finally arrived. I could strangle her, because I can't get the idea out of my head now! Hope I can do them both justice! tongue.gif

Oooh nice! I'm useless at baking myself.

I've just stripped back the chassis/floor on my other car ready for Waxoyl, and the Mac/Stargate fic is now also started. I'm having fun heheh. It'll slow progress on my other fic, though, as I don't have time to do both at once with all the car and house work!

They sure look good!!! surprise.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 31 August 2015 - 04:48 AM
They were... not bad. lol I actually used too much icing in the dough, so the consistency was a bit off. My next recipe is the legendary Pioneer Hall Cheese Dip. It's a very rare, very hard to find recipe. I finally found it. It's a dip they used to serve in Disney back in the 80's. I LOVED it. But they sadly stopped serving it around the early 90's. I used to have a cook book with the recipe, but it got lost in the move.

I'm not sure if I posted it here or not, but if anyone wants the recipe, let me know and I'll be happy to post it! But I'm hoping to make it this upcoming weekend. I use my sister as a guinea pig. lol

Posted by: Jediferret 1 September 2015 - 05:03 AM
Heh heh heh....

Cheese Dip - Pioneer Hall, Fort Wilderness

Ingredients:
3/4 Cup Half and Half
1 Tablespoon Chili Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1/8 Teaspoon White Pepper
1/8 Teaspoon Tabasco Sauce
3/4 Cup Cheddar Cheese -- grated
1 Package Cream Cheese -- (8 oz) softened
Method:
Heat half and half with chili powder, stirring to blend and let simmer for a few minutes.
Add salt, white pepper and Tabasco sauce.
Put cheeses in a bowl and gradually add the hot liquid. Stir until cheeses are mixed.
Other seasonings may be added as desired. Serve with crackers or fresh vegetables.

The week after that will be Slow Cooked Meatloaf... because I'm so getting a slow cooker.

Posted by: denizen 1 September 2015 - 05:24 AM
What about the recipe to those space cake balls too? smile.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 1 September 2015 - 05:32 PM
HAHA Sure!

Oops! Space... XD That was supposed to be Spice Cake Balls. Katie had a spelling fail..... XD

You just need a few things. You need a Spice Cake mix (I used Duncan Hines), Butter Cream frosting (same brand) and white melting chocolate (I forget what the brand was). Just make the cake as directed on the box. Let it cool, and then rip it into small pieces (great for stress relief, by the way). Mix the frosting into the cake pieces with a mixer until it's smooth. Took me about 3-4 minutes on medium speed.

Chill the "dough" for 15 minutes. Then roll the dough into balls (about an inch, or the size of a meat ball). Put the melting chocolate into a pan and melt it. It won't take long on low heat, so make sure you watch it and stir it so it won't bubble. Once melted, just coat the balls with the chocolate (just don't use your fingers like I did because I burnt myself). Once finished, you chill the balls for an hour and they're ready to eat!

And you're not limited to Spice Cake either. You can use any kind of cake mix, frosting and/or melting chocolate that you want.

Thanks. happy.gif It's just a picture of Sailor Jupiter... I kinda needed a change, so I picked her because she's awesome.

And nope, I haven't entered. I know the deadline is coming up, but I can't seem to come up with anything. I'll try to come up with something before the deadline... well, hopefully. lol
