I thought I mentioned this already, but... (probably in the Last One to Post Wins thread) My mom got her old, unused laptop fixed up, so now I can replace the old, broken one. Still need a data transfer, though

It looks like we're going the wrong way over here. There have been more contaminations again the past week and it's becoming alarming. A second wave is feared. Maybe we gotten too sloppy since they eased out the measures. Since last week they made masks requiered in public places, like shops, supermarkets, etc... (instead of doing that in the beginning when we got out of lockdown). I just hope it's the final convulsions of the virus but I've read articles that we're probably going to be wearing masks until next spring and that local lockdowns are being considered.
To be honest, I don't think the economy can take another hit like that if we ever go back to full lockdown. Especially the events sector has taken massive hits. One company that provides stages for the biggest event in the country is already out of business, so it's not looking well, yet we're still below the 10.000 casualties and at the 33rd place of confirmed cases. Two, three months ago we were at the tenth place.
We're clearly not out of the woods yet.

The virus isn't going anywhere for awhile. Lockdown didn't just make it go away. That's just a game of hide-and-seek. We've seen the effects of that 10-fold in various portions of America.
People need to learn that in order to do the things you normally would at some level, you will have to A) protect yourself, and B) follow the guidelines put in place.
Too many people went about it here with a blissful ignorance and the price will be paid for that. At the very least, the death numbers seem to be staying flattened, which can be attributed to the fact that there is a better handle on how to treat (and better treatments for) those who need hospitalization. You have to hope that will only get better.
Why masks weren't made mandatory at high-volume essential shops and the like from the outset remains beyond me. Maybe here in America early normalization of it would have prevented some of the pushback they're facing now on PPE mandates. But that's all hindsight.
I tend to agree that most places aren't going to be able to handle a secondary full lockdown from an economic standpoint. Things are already hurting as it is. I'm personally stuck between my civil responsibilities of protecting my community, and supporting the community through economic means. How do I balance both? They're both needed, but with it comes risk. Society needs to be able to congregate for a plethora of reasons, the amount of money lost through the cancelling of any sort of crowd-gathering event is staggering. Many entities rely on that solely. They probably won't recover. And then there's the underlying reason of human-to-human contact. From a mental health standpoint, that can't be understated. I know people (and companies) tried to build it up as some sort of equivalency, but Zoom calls and the like, are not, and should never be a replacement for real interactions. I prefer my friends and family in person, not like they're panelists on Hollywood Squares.
But how much risk is any one person willing to accept is the bigger question? Life does have to go on, you know. I just wish America wasn't devoid of quality leadership at pretty much every level of government. To say nothing of Washington, D.C., even at the state and local levels nobody seems to be too willing to take any sort of real stance.

QUOTE (Dragondog @ 26 June 2020 - 01:44 AM) | Twitter's a dumpster fire |
Hahaha! Ain't that the truth... I've kinda peaced out of Twitter lately.
I apologize, again, for not being around much. Seems I take care of one issue, another arises.
Another lockdown is coming up, but things have been fairly decent here. After I met Pudding last month, he actually moved here. O_o!
Other than that, VRC has become a dumpster fire as well. A lot of creepers have come out of the woodwork and melodrama keeps popping up. I've spent a lot of time being the "mama bear" of the group.
Works been okay, though I miss seeing my family and irl friends.
I'm gonna try to be around a bit more often seeing as I've kinda neglected things here.
Hope everyone is doing well so far!!

My antacid prescription needed to be refilled, and trying to call for a refill in this pandemic is very hard. Mine ran out, and I ended up falling asleep only to be woken up two hours later in serious esophageal pain. I guess without the medication, everything came back up and corroded my throat for the two hours I slept. Probably the most my throat has ever hurt. I ended up going to the walk-in just to see if I could book a spontaneous visit and get maybe whoever was available to refill my prescription. Long story short, I got it refilled, but boy did today suck

Sounds tough. Hope you feel better now.
I was about to do another shout-out here. It's been so quiet again lately and a crazy week for that matter. I've been doing job interviews because I have really hit rock bottom. The only way to go after hitting rock bottom is up. I desperately need a job or I might have to move out and live back home which is not an option. But I sure felt a lot of energy and vibes flowing. For starters there's a heatwave going on now, which will last well into next week. Then the explosion in Beirut happened, the next day there was that crash in the Tour of Poland. I don't follow any tours, I'm more of a soccer guy and only when our national team is playing but anyway Dutch cyclist Fabio Jakobsen took a massive dive in the barriers and it was done delibrately. He got an elbow from another cyclist and the guy who did it might be up for murder charges and then I also read about a fire in the WTC tower in Brussels, though no one got hurt there.
Like I said, I really can feel the energy on what is going on the world, this week. It's like I'm finally awake or something.

I am feeling better today, hope things improve for you, too soon. I sold my first adoptable on DeviantArt, for 100 DA points. I was planning to save them for either a commission or an expensive adoptable, but I might end up blowing them on some cat adoptables that Idk what to use them for. They just speak out at me. Or maybe I just can't be trusted with DA points the way I can actual money, idk Considering opening commissions, but idk how much attention it'll get. Took 8 months for the adoptable to sell mostly because not very many people saw it :/

Don't beleive the conspericy theories!

That "theory" has been going around here as well. But, yeah... it's not true. We're not going into another lockdown despite the fact that it's gotten pretty close to home. One of our employees caught it and everyone who interacted with him had to get tested... thankfully, everyone came up negative. One of my friend's said this past weekend that his entire family caught it. From what I've seen, even if you don't catch the actual virus, depression has been hitting people pretty hard. One of my friends has been completely isolated to her house and hasn't stepped outside since the whole thing started. Even my Dad, who is very happy being by himself, is struggling with the isolation. Right now, most of us are just hoping they're approve another stimulus package soon. Regardless, stay safe out there!
