Richard Dean Anderson has agreed to return this year for the second annual Quench the Fire Charity run/ walk, as part of his Purple Heart project for the Pain Center.

The Purple Heart Project, is a fundraiser for the Quench the Fire annual charity event. This event raises money for The Pain Center. a medical felicity in California which does research and offers aid to people suffering from RSD (chronic pain).

RDA and his doctor have been involved with the Center for a long time and the Purple Heart fundraiser was conceived from a joke RDA made after his foot surgeries, asking if he could get a Purple Heart for his ordeal.

Follow the below link for information about this project or how to be involved in it.

For those interested, the Quench the Fire Purple Heart fundraiser has reached 200% of its goal. We have had fans from 7 countries pitch in to pull in over $4,000 now, with 2 weeks still to go to the Dec 7th date. To say we are awed and eternally grateful feels like an understatement.

Thanks to one of the participants last year there is also an auction on E-bay running now. Which will donate all proceedings to the project. The auctioned item is a Tshirt from last year’s event, which RDA has signed.

So if you live near the Long Beach area, what better way to spend a fine Sunday afternoon, than walking with RDA. biggrin.gif

I wonder if he will be able to walk it this time. His feet are probably in better condition than last year, that's for sure. To all those lucky souls that are going--have fun and bring back pictures! smile.gif

You can find many stories and pictures at Gateworld, this is the first page of the thread where they start talking about it:

http://forum.gateworld.net/showthread.php?t=10615&page=273

Be careful, some pictures by L-JADE and leiasky are hidden behind spoiler tags because they are so big, so don't overlook them! Others are only posted as links.

I figured it would be pretty pointless to open a new thread that won't hold many replies anyway so I'm posting here, even if unlike last year this is NO LONGER RDA FOCUSED:

Six months after the initial project ended, I'm proud to present to you The Purple Heart Project 2009:

www.phpcharity.com

YES, WE HAVE A WEBSITE!

We've expanded to include a 4 month long charity auction of various items, personalized gift certificates (we still need a couple templates for those for people to choose from) video promo, etc.

Due to the fact that not everyone who has agreed to get involved with the auction is an RDA fan, but is interested in the project due to personal reasons, we are no longer RDA exclusive. We've opened the door for anyone who wants to make a gift for anyone to do so, and personalized gift certificates will be sent out in their name if they so wish.

The auction will end in early November so we have time to wrap things up before the event. Simple donations will still be taken till later in the month, and depending on who you are honoring by it, we will do our best to get the certificates out in time.

OUR FIRST AUCTIONED ITEM:
And an incredibly COOL one..... we have a genealogy research specialist who has agreed to donate her time in building up as much of a family tree for the winner as she can in 36 hours. That's generaly how long she spends on a project given that this sort of research is always an ongoing process without a definite end.

The auction will open on July 5th on E-bay and it will be linked to on our site. Sadly, this auction is open for US born people only, given that she is US based and her acess to material offers better results for US born citizens that will then go to expand in other countries. Neither the researcher nor us wish for the winning bidder to donate for this item only to find out that she can't acess any relevant foreign documents.

We also have 17 more items waiting to be posted. They will go up on our site ASAP, and they will be put on E-bay in order of estimated value and public interest. That is to say that if we have 17 items qued but we get the 18th item and it turns out to be an amazing offer, it will of course be uploaded before the other 17, with no offenese to the donors. However we will be running around 3 auctions at the same time if we have to make best use of our 4 month auction window.

We're totally volunteer run so if anyone wants to lend a hand with one little thing or another or donate something we're more than happy to hear from you at purpleheartproj@gmail.com

And we're off.....

I also have to state that the USC, The Pain Center and the QtF have no involvement in setting up this project or the auction and this is 100% volunteer run by fans and supporters of the QtF cause and non-profit with ALL proceedings going DIRECTLY to The Pain Center with NO middle men what so ever.

Hi everyone,

As in the past 4 years Mr. Anderson is once again involved with QtF as a star supporter and will be at the event to help raise awareness for the RSD cause.

We're running our little e-bay auction again for the USC Pain Center in order to help raise the total that the Quench The Fire brings in every year.

What we have up now can be found here:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/purple_heart_proje...sid=p4340.l2562

Some of our items are even RDA related. wink.gif)

And the absolute best pic to ever come out of "Meet The Man"

Also for fans who have been constant supporters of QtF over the past few years as well as those who have just joined the cause, we have this absolutely beautiful watch with the QTF 2011 incription on the bracelet. It's a lovely piece of memorabillia for those who are as passionate about the cause as their star supporter. wink.gif

If you have friends who you think might be interrested in any of the items feel free to let them know.

Thank you everyone!!!

Hugs,
Allie

Hey guys,

A new series of items are up for auction at our E-bay store, in support of the USC Pain Center, a charity supported by Richard Dean Anderson:
http://tinyurl.com/3mh45b5

A massive THANK YOU for most of these goes to Paul Brown of Legends Memorabilia and Collectibles who donated some high quiality collectible items for this auction in support of the Pain Center.

And as always this is a man who does things above and beyond what anyone would expect and his contribution is nothing short of amazing!

These are HIGHLY colllectible, some being EXCLUSIVE items relating to Stargate, Sanctuary, RDA, AT, Pirates of the Caribbean (this one is my personal favorite cause wow), StarWars, Elvis, Michael Jackson, Al Pacino.

Take a look and spread the word.

Thank you everyone for your involvement, for your support. You've kept this fundraiser going over the years and you've helped make it better and better, you made it happen, you made it work and I am beyond happy and proud to have done this over the years with all of you.

Mr. Brown, thank you! You, sir, are a legend!

Alexa.

We included part of the shipping costs in the starting bid. I will cover the difference as I want as much of the bids to go towards the charity, but with the heavier/larger displays I can't really aford to cover ALL the shipping costs, E-bay fees and paypal fees. I personally cover everything, including obtaining some of the items like many of those in the first part of the auction, during trips and con travels. So we include part of the shipping in the minimum bid required to take some of the strain off and not go completely broke.

Hey loves,

Just reminding everyone that there are only 2 days left on the RDA goodies on auction for the Pain Center, which are Legends exclusive and several not available for general sale so if you want them, now's the time.

Among the many awesome items are a RDA photo signed by the one and only, photo which was taken by his mother during a private photoshoot at his place in California specifically for Legends. The images, which are absolutely to die for as can be seen, have not been released outside of these four items, which Paul Brown donated in support of the Pain Center:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=300606822843

As a fan, may I just say.... oh wow to the photos (I'd say oh yum, but that's not very dignified...) and let's be honest... whoever gets them will be one lucky person!!! And they better give them a good home...

Mr. Brown, the fans salute you! : ))

With a little over a day left, the auctions are skyrocketing. Which is fantastic for the Pain Center and in turn fantastic for us... Everytime the Quench The Fire is a succesful event, they'll be planning the next one and we all know who they'll ask to be their celebrity supporter so... Mr. A gets to come out and play...

Also, for those who want to make donations that will be totaled specifically to the Quench The Fire 2011 total, use these links:

www.active.com/donate/QTF11/PurpleHeart11 - These donations go directly into the Pain Center account via ActiveGiving and they're automatically totaled to our Purple Heart.

OR

http://tinyurl.com/paincenter - donations go directly to the Pain Center, but if you put Purple Heart in the "Special Instructions" field and send me a copy of the receipt at purpleheartproj@gmail.com I can have Randy Blancq tracl and input the donation to the QtF 2011 total as an "offline donation".

Whichever you preffer.

For those who would like to be involved with “Quench the Fire”, a charity event supported by RICHARD DEAN ANDERSON for the past 5 years, your donations, in any amount, no matter how small, are still welcomed here:

http://www.active.com/donate/QTF11/PurpleHeart11

All donations go DIRECTLY to the USC Quench The Fire without any mediation and for US residents, they are Tax-Deductible. This donation link will be open until the day of the Los Angeles based event on December 4th.

The future of the next QtF event depends fully on the success of the one in progress, so if you want to be a part of the team who makes every “Quench The Fire” happen, join us at the mentioned link and get involved. You don’t have to be at the L.A. event to make a difference. The “Quench The Fire” supporting team is made by people from over 10 countries.

Be one of us!

Hey everyone,

There are only 3 weeks left until the USC Quench The Fire event so everyone who wants to be involved with the QtF fundraiser can still do so through the donation link:

http://www.active.com/donate/QTF11/PurpleHeart11

With the Purple Heart auction now closed and the paypal money currently being donated to the USC Pain Center we have a more accurate estimate of what we managed to raise up to now.

The second leg of the auction, supported by Mr. Paul Brown of Legends Memorabilia&Collectibles, stands as our most succesful auction to date and he has generously put us in the ball-park of $1,000.

Everyone who have donated items to the auction, Kathy, Heather, or helped with the bids, Brenda, Luanne, Simone, Allan, Martine, Jacqueline, Pamela, Paul, John, Jodi, Billie, have made that very important collective difference of which side of that mark we stand on.

Huge thanks also go to the people who have donated to the Purple Heart Active Giving link, Luanne, Sara and Colleen for driving the current total.... home.

I'm happy to let everyone know that with all this effort combined, we've hit the $1,000 mark.

If you too want to be a part of the 2011 Purple Heart, follow the link and get involved!

The Dec 4th total depends only on you now!

http://www.active.com/donate/QTF11/PurpleHeart11

Awesome job, everyone!

Hope to see the contributors list growing.

xox
Allie
