I guess my interest in the reboot is waning. Even having both Murdocs in it didn't make tonight's episode SUPER DUPER AWESOME for me... Well whatever
Beginning, perfection. 'Bout time we have original Murdoc sing on screen
They are definitely pushing for a Desi/Mac romance, and I don't like it
I'm finally starting to like the relationship between Mac and his dad
I'll admit, I liked the look on Murdoc's face when he realized Mac's dad had cancer. He actually looked like he regretted taunting him before. Like even he believes that cancer isn't something to joke about.
Matty: "Bozer is questioning Murdoc now." Me: "In other words there's not much hope of getting anything out of him, right?"
Bozer and Murdoc teaming up is something I didn't know I needed
Finally, we get to see the two Murdocs whipping each others butts in an actual fight. Much better than the last time they fought
Bozer is really dumb to leave the gun for Murdoc to just grab and use
I'm a bit confused on Murdoc's plan... So he hired Helman to track him down, in hopes of killing/defeating him and then escaping lockup. But if I remember correctly, Murdoc agreed to be locked up in the first place. He didn't want to, but it was in exchange for Cassian being placed in a better environment. So what, was he going to break out and just be like, "I guess I'll never get to see my son again, but oh well, he's still safe"? 'Cause the idea of never seeing his son again really seemed to upset him
Also, that ending was GOLD x 20 And hey, we got a MAAACCGYYYYVERRRRR!!! yell (we kinda did in X-Ray + Penny already, but this was better XD)

I just want to add, I said "duh" a lot tonight. "Oh look, Murdoc was Helman's target all along." "Oh look, Helman led up into a trap." "Oh look, we played right into his hands."

*creeps back* I should keep some kind of notebook or something, so I know what I want to say and don't keep coming back *facepalm*
It was kinda... awkward? Comical? Can't really describe it, but kinda fun to watch when they did catch Murdoc, and he starts screeching about "Don't take me back. Anywhere but there!" Like, is it really that bad?
But still:
Murdoc: *sees Mac's dad* Hi dad. Oversight: Hi Nutbag.
Off topic, but I would like to see a flashback episode on what Helman and Murdoc's partnership was like before they turned against each other. Too much to ask?

Ratings not good and lowest audience number. Not surprised since Cbs seems to forget this show. Even Lenkov heavily promotes his Hawaii shows but MacGyver not so much. I am hugely disappointed.

Not to mention that it was gone for weeks before tonight. I guess people just assumed it wasn't on

First of all... I called it when I thought Helman was still alive. lolz
Seeing MDB sing in the beginning was awesome!
The rest of the story was kinda... mediocre, at best. I still love David Dastmalchian acting as Murdoc. He's so... good at being a bad guy! I love it!
The ending... *sigh* Typical... it would have been better if Helman had escaped in the meantime.
These are supposed to the world's best assassin's? Since they're supposed to be soooo good at what they do and everything is calculated, they sure do get captured rather easily. Murdoc's capture at the end was too clean.....
Now, I'm not a great writer here... but I know lazy writing when I see it.
On Desi, I haven't watch any episodes with her except for this one... mostly because I was pretty sure I was gonna hate her. I watched this episode and I was right! Don't like her. Whoever is in charge of character development needs to be fired.
So... Desi is suppose to be Mac's new bae?

I love the episode, just seems more action-packed than normal.
In putting Helman & Murdoc together just seems they're gonna figure a way to get out eventually. It's a matter of time before they realize they are more use working together to be free than being locked up, even if they have to work together.
And is it me or securityguard#7 and his colleagues were really untrained, rookie mistakes like not clearing corners. How can one guy take out a whole security facility, with a one-action shotgun....?
It's in CBS's mission statement to include awkward chemistry to advance a romantic storyline for their leads lol.
Definitely an entertaining episode, and it's always good to see MDB back in action (and I'm glad the script gave him more to do this time than in his previous appearance.) I still wish Helman would interact a bit more with MacGyver, instead of just with Murdoc, but that's partly just because I want to hear MDB saying MacGyver's name again I'm glad that they definitely left the story open for him to return again.
There was quite a bit of action in this one, which was great. The MacGyverisms were pretty sparse, unfortunately, but no worse than a typical late-season episode of the original series. It seemed a bit odd that Bozer was more in the center of things than Mac was.
I'm noticing that I don't miss really miss Jack, but I don't really care that much for Desi. I think the show would have been just fine with Mac and Riley as the core members of the team.
I like Mac's dad more than I once did, and his relationship with Mac adds something to the show, I think, by allowing more of Mac's personality to come through.
Overall, I wouldn't rank this as my favorite episode of the season, but it's easily in the top 5.

Oh, they just mean a hit, not Homicide International Trust...
Boooo...
haha I thought the same thing.
Amazing intro with MDB Karaoke murdering
The rest not so much. MDB outshined the other actors though. New Murdoc isn't too bad, but it's so not fun to have them all locked up at the end. Way more satisfying the original way of having them out there!
Mac's contribution to this episode, jumping to a truck.

Am I the only one who hates the fact that Murdoc has been caught THREE TIMES already? This episode was great, but Murdoc needs to stop getting caught lol. The whole locked up and escape routine gets old.
I prefer the horror movie type bad guy who always seems to die and comes back to the ones locked up.
Wonder if Murdoc's real name is Dennis or if that's just what Helman knew him as.

I enjoyed this one well enough, MDB is always fun to see...but I feel a little cheated in that MacGyver himself was so underutilized here. Could've been a great mental "three-way dance" (to use a pro wrestling term) between Helman, Mac and Murdoc.
The nice thing is I don't think we're done with this story thread by any means.
I watched this live but I had been on vacation so that is why I am first commenting on it now.
Truth is this is the first time zi have ever watched a complete live. I was looking forward to MDB having a big role and went to the trouble, even waiting to see the movie I would normally have gone seen that Friday.
It was good. Great to see Michael have more to do. Keep in mind I have seen very little of this series. So my opinion may have little value....
I share the feelings of others here. Mac himself was way underused. One of the big problems I have had with this series all along is he feels like just another member of a big team, cast. Not the lead, title character. I would probably feel that way even if the originally show never existed.
Considering this was an episode they should have expected casual viewers to have more interest to watch than others, they should have given Mac a bigger role. Instead of supporting cast members who would not be that familiar to us.
I like David as this new Murdoc. I enjoyed him in others roles too. But a Murdoc who is constantly captured makes him a completely different character. Which is fine to an degree. But it runs the risk of overexposure.
Helman and Murdoc as fellow prisoners works more as a joke than really what best suits the characters.
I will check in again next time MDB returns. But that will likely be at least a year from now. It did nothing to motivate me to watch as a regular viewer.
Looks like Rhett forgot he had already written a post for this one, because he just posted another one today. Seems like someone is in need of a holiday

This was a great episode written by our own Lee David Zlotoff.
A great wink to MDB's other career as a singer, which made of for a good start.
The one thing I would've changed about this episode was that I would've kept Bozer in the War Room and taken Riley instead. In fact, I wouldn't have mind if Murdoc killed Bozer. He had a great chance to do so. Sorry 00Boze.
David Dastmalchian, always a good thing to see. He really enjoys this role and he is one of the best tv-villains I've seen, even if he took over the role of MDB. When I see DD I see MDB from Strictly Business but there is a big difference. Reboot Murdoc seems to be having some sort of respect for reboot Mac and a little dark sense of humour which I like.
MDB, he rules, we all know that.
A great fight scene between reboot Murdoc and our Murdoc. It was quite violent and I never thought (though it might have been a stuntman) to see MDB bounce of the bench like that, hitting each other against the lockers... That was awesome. Just weird that it was Bozer to save the day at that moment.
So maybe their may have been a few 'duh' moments but I'm willing to forgive, after all it's written by Lee David Zlotoff.

Going at it the same way like they did in the original... I don't know. They always did things differently. And not so long ago everybody was complaining because Jack's been filling the graveyards and seemed to like it as well. They finally get someone alive, even if it's the same person for the third time, and now you don't like it?
Besides am I the only one who noticed this episode's ending mirror Deadly Dreams? They bring in one villain back to their cell, where his accomplice/protégé/master is waiting in the cell across the hall? Is this whole a set up to a Deadly Dreams like episode?

If Arnold can do it, so can MDB.
