Henry Ian Cusick has joined the full-time cast of MacGyver for season 4, but what will his role be within the show?
The team already has it's 2 main leads in MacGyver and Jack Dalton's hand-picked replacement, Desi and the writers have already proven they struggle with having 4 characters plus the weekly guest spot, which begs the question of why and how they intend to fit Ian into the picture.
The obvious position would be taking over the Oversight role. We can presume since there have been no sightings of Tate on set at all this season, that MacGyver's father has succumbed to his stage 4 cancer and is no longer in the show which would leave the way for Ian's character to step in and give them room for the writers to breath since he wouldn't need to be in every episode or be a main character, which is good since history has shown us they struggle with the multiple characters aspect of the show.
Other option could be that Matty moves up to the Oversight role and Ian's character takes over as director of Phoenix operations.
So what's everyone else think? How do you see the show working this season?
