For a while, there was an "available until July 1st" message on the MacGyver Netflix page, but now it's gone.

Right now, I *think* it's staying. I saw that notice as well, but I haven't seen it lately. There's also no availability date in the details screen... which there should be a date if it is being removed.

I'm assuming the licensing was about to run out and it was just renewed.

See, I thought it was leaving Netflix because it was moving to CBS All Access to coincide with the premiere of the reboot series. But that does make sense.

I've seen a lot of people complaining on Twitter that they just found out about MacGyver being on Netflix and already getting removed... maybe they opted for staying until the reboot premiere?

Could be, but I'd like to believe they were just slow to renew the license, because I don't think I'll be getting All Access anytime soon. There's too damn many subscription streaming services. Things used to be so much simpler when all you had to pay for to watch your favorite shows was a cable or satellite bill. Now it's that plus a streaming service for every media conglomerate who wants a piece of the Netflix action.

Don't hate them too much they can only show what they have permission to show. CBS have obviously pulled the rights from Netflix.

It's not completely gone from Netflix... it's still available in DVD format. Not to mention, this happened once before on Amazon Prime. It was removed, and added back a little bit later... so it may just be temporary. But... who knows. =/

I really need to just get the show on DVD and be done with it. lolz

I hesitated buying the DVDs for a long time - the box set wasn't available until last year (couldn't afford the single boxes as a student who worked part time at McDonalds *lol*); and the MacGyver movies are not included in the German Version of the complete Collection DVD set *grrrr*

I'm really glad I finally did buy them - the German dubbed version is not bad (which is sadly not always the case), but it's so much better in the original English version!

Maybe I was too hasty with that last message. It's back on Netflix. For how long, we'll see. Hopefully they've made up their mind.

I haven't watched MacGyver at all for several years, but with all this talk of the reboot, I decided to finally go back and rewatch a few favorite episodes. So far, I watched almost all of the Murdoc episodes (except Cleo Rocks... that one's just a bit TOO stupid.) It's funny to see how the character of Murdoc evolved from someone who was pretty scary, to someone who was basically a tongue-in-cheek comic-relief character. Kind of like Freddy Krueger, actually.
I also rewatched "Lesson In Evil." Man, I forgot how cool that character was! I kind of wish they had made more Dr. Zito episodes, but then again, seeing how Murdoc devolved into a joke, maybe it's good that they only made two Dr. Zito episodes.

Many years ago i went to visit family in Greece back in 1989 and they had a German TV channel which was currently showing MacGyver. It was weird watching it because it was dubbed in German and they gave MacGyver such a bold yet cool voice over.

My favorite Murdoc episodes are the first three. I very much prefer the wild-haired, scarfaced madman. I liked how each time he returned, he looked worse than he did before, reflecting his near-death experiences. Then starting with Halloween Knights, he got plastic surgery and somehow became immune to ever being scarred further, be it from an exploding grenade or falling down a mine shaft.

Murdoc looked the best in The Widowmaker, scarred and army outfit but looked the coolest in Strictly Business fully in black and scarless.

The price is quite reasonable on Netflix. I wanted to switch over to Netflix considering I pay more to view DStv (A Mickey Mouse package that costs R759 ($52.07) a month, and mostly shows repetitions of the same movies and series.) My only concern is my data package, and 50GB will not be enough unless I go far an uncapped package that will cost R799 per month ($54.883)

I agree. He was at his most badass and unhinged in the Widowmaker. I felt like Strictly Business was hurt by the amnesia subplot and would have preferred more cat and mouse stuff between Murdoc and MacGyver in the wilderness.

Not that any other user would know what you speak of MacGyver1985 But yes, im in the same boat however you need to analyse how much TV you watch. That will also determine how much you stream.

Try to communicate with your service provider as some of them offer unlimited streaming with their packages. (They know you wish to watch TV so this is ultimately not added to your monthly data.

On another note, the topics are closed so I can't post there: Phillips head and reamer, has anyone ever actually used that hook for a practical purpose? I can't even figure out what it's supposed to be for.

The hook has previously been mentioned before as a cool tool for trying to open a stuck zip. Also if you are carrying bags, it can be used as a more comfortable handle.

My Netflix account is tagged to the US region, cos I had gotten it before it even arrived in Singapore....

MacDawn, Netflix is country specific. Not all Netflix connections are the same due to licensing of shows or who owns the copyright to air it exclusively yada yada yada.

Even the US are restricted to some shows that for arguments sake, Canada have rights to.

So it all depends where in the world you are.

Cos originally, Netflix wasn't available where I am. I used a *coughVPNcough* to get around it and registered my account. So even now, the notifications I get are for shows that were added to the US regions. Maybe the postcode I used was the one from LA (I worked in Thousand Oaks for a while and had a resident address from there).

I had seen MacGyver on my Netflix (which is one of the reason I signed up for the subscription, if I am honest). But I didn't log in for a while, when I went back, it just disappeared, and now I can't find it.

You can attempt to try another store such as Canada. I believe if you use a VPN and you have an account, your restriction does not lie with that specific country.

All seven seasons are on Amazon FireTV.

I know this is slightly off topic, and I don't know if it's for everyone... but here in the US, you can now download shows and movies via the Netflix App for smartphones. MacGyver is one of the shows you can download... but you have to do the episodes one at a time. Just a heads up for anyone who might want it to watch offline.
