Have to say, one of my least favorite episodes. Way too little Mac and way, WAY, too much Bozer. I wanted more on the refugee situation which imo is more interesting and real. The writers gave it no depth.

btw how did Mac and Desi get those gangsters? and to just leave them in the car all that time seems ridiculous. I know it's tv and I usually give the show a pass, but I had a hard time with that one! laugh.gif

I actually enjoyed this one. Probably because I do better with emotional plot points than the action-packed ones laugh.gif

But I felt like this whole episode's purpose was to make everyone cry... The characters, me, Bleh XD

So about the Mac/Desi storyline: I sorta felt more of an original Mac vibe. Mac stumbles upon a situation and decides to help. He refuses to turn his back on them. He improvises to get them out of trouble and to safety. And we get a taste of the situation these poor people have to deal with.

Desi felt more developed as a character. I'm starting to feel slightly (very slightly) attached to her. I felt more of Levi Tran's real-life personality is seeping through in some scenes. I felt compassion emanating from her when talking to the one pregnant refuge. And then she starts talking about her own past and freaking crying >_<

I've said before that I'm not a fan of Bozer's character, but to me, that bomb plot was freaking sad. I mean, he's thinking he's gonna die, he's crying, Riley's crying, he almost gives up, Riley won't let him... sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

I choked when he said, "My best friend, my girlfriend, my parents... I don't get to say goodbye to any of them.", because I misheard 'parents' as 'pants' roller.gif

Funny how they keep explaining Leanna's disappearances since the actress is always elsewhere these days laugh.gif

I really enjoyed this episode!

From beginning to end. I'm beginning to like Desi, worth the patience. There was everything in this one, action, humanity and friendship. clip.png

I like this episode. Mac & Desi's story was too fast moving and void of some necessary details I agree. But i like them getting into their emotions. If anything Bozer keeps showing he's not ready to be an agent lol. I mean he was suicidal.

On a sidenote, Tristin is so tiny built lol

Yeah, Bozer doesn't look as though he's been through proper training at all dry.gif

I'm annoyed that there was this big deal about "If Bozer switches feet, he could move too much and set off the bomb", but he moved WAY MORE when he was telling Riley that script idea. And when the guy said he was gonna cut into the car to access the bomb, he said, "But Bozer is going to have to be completely still." And then he moves like that. And Riley gave him the go-ahead doh.gif. Not to mention all she kept saying was that Bozer had to be calm, but nothing about being still dry.gif

The typical general nitpicks, but I have to say that was probably the best episode of the series for me (there's a few I like better on the rewatchability scale). Tonally this one was pretty analogous to the original.

The only downside was both storylines easily could (and should) have been their own episode (sub in Mac in the B-storyline). The A-storyline continued to demonstrate the, IMO, necessary shift away from the overwrought violence of the Jack days. I appreciate Desi not just whipping out the guns and solving every situation by turning it into "Shoot 'Em Up" starring Clive Owen, as well as having a more humanistic, practical and compassionate side...again analogous to the original. It allows this version of the character of MacGyver to breathe more instead of suffocate under the weight of his "assigned muscle."

Justin and Tristin were really good in this one, as were the refugees (wish we could have gotten more of them...the rare intriguing guest characters).

I wonder who or what they're setting up for with the final scene. surprise.gif

I really hope they get a fourth season (still nothing for this or H5O this late in the season is...interesting) as I think this show is starting to resemble more of perhaps what it should have been (within the framework of Lenkov's "team" concept) from the get-go. dry.gif

I would get to like Desi a lot more if the writers wouldn't have her be his love interest and I hope it doesn't go on that route. They have good chemistry BUT I think a lot better if they just stayed friends/co-workers without getting anything romantic.

I wouldn't mind seeing Desi on the show as long they don't turn her into a love interest for MacGyver.

As for the episode I thought it was pretty good. Not one of my favorites but not bad. It looks like Desi is opening up a little bit . At the beginning she seems so tense but in this episode she seems a bit relaxed.

At the end of episode, when MacGyver was holding the chip and said that whomever made this was a 'Ghost' genius. This was probably going start introducing the 'Evil MacGyver' . I'm interested in seeing Peter Weller as this character.

I finally had a chance to watch this episode, and thought it was quite good. The main story line was very much in the spirit of the original series. It was nice to see Mac getting into an adventure just because he decided to stop and help someone, not because he was sent on an assignment. I hope we get more episodes based on that kind of premise if the show gets renewed for another season.
And, much to my surprise, I actually enjoyed Bozer's plot in this one! It was pretty tense, and had some genuine emotion.

I like this episode as well. It was a good one. They're finally getting things right.

Another episode where Mac goes to help out that is not part of an assignment. What's next, reboot Mac going solo for a change?

Mac and Desi works together real nice. And good to see Desi warming up a little. Maybe sometimes keeping the loose ends in mind. They really kept those gangsters alone in the car, unguarded? They might get themselves free, knock out a window and they're gone.

Also nice to see that not every refugee is a bad person. Another nod to the original. How many times did our Mac get people over the border and made a few calls afterwards to get them to the States?

I even liked the B-story in this episode for a change and the pacing of the story was perfect.

On the B-story for once and after nearly 66 episodes, they finally, finally made a good episode with Bozer. They did something useful with him. Interesting to see that after he got gunned down by Helman and Murdoc's humongous chance to kill him, he gets trapped in the car --> (Blow Out, Flame's End? A car bomb meant for someone else?) that is meant to kill Oversight? You might wonder what's behind it and what has Oversight to do with it?

But this is the first and only time I really think Bozer finally added something. Again, no Leanna and I don't mind but if they can do more things to Bozer like they did, I wouldn't mind Bozer being around. Either this or he stays behind in the War Room.

Why is it so horrible for Mac whether original or reboot to have a love interest?

I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver.
Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you.

I wouldn't mind it him having a love interest as long it is not with a co-worker in a love triangle.
