I found a used copy of Stargate SG-1 Season 1 on Amazon for about $6 and decided to order it on a whim. I've never seen the show before, though, so I'm not sure what I'm getting into. Did I waste my $6? Or is it a good show?

I think it is an awesome show! RDA is great as Colonel O'Neill (two 'L's, pls happy.gif )

If you liked the original movie (or even if you have never seen it) and if you like science fiction, I think you'll love Stargate SG-1.

I got all of the seasons, and frequently re-watch them! biggrin.gif

I discovered SG-1 this fall and absolutely love the show. The characters are fun and RDA makes an awesome Col. O'Neill. A fun and different role from Mac. I would say get it and have some fun watching RDA with a military attitude that is very different than Mac but still has a bit of the flippent comical side that Mac had.

It's a very cleverly written show which interweaves historical facts and myths with science fiction.

I found it showcased RDA's acting abilities as I totally forgot I was watching the same person who played MacGyver.

I would say that you need to be a sci-fi person to enjoy it, so if your not into sci-fi, then you may well have wasted your money, but if not then you'll enjoy the show. smile.gif

No you did not waste your money. You got a good deal. What season did you get. I can understand why you would be apprehensive unsure.gif about it. I do have to agree with Rock, RDA's acting was great. I am a big military geek and I have to say that seeing SG-1 is awesome. I love it.

I ordered season 1. I heard that's probably the weakest season, but I was under the impression that the show continued, so I figured it made sense to start at the beginning. For a show like MacGyver, of course, you can pretty much start anywhere, but I thought with SG-1, it might be easier to follow if I watch it chronologically.

Thanks for all the feedback!

I can't brag anough about SG-1. Anything RDA is in is perfect to me. It isn't reaqlly focused on the Sci-Fi element as much as you would think. It's our military dealing with the unknown. You'll notice each season builds on the past seasons and gets better and better.

I remember when our Channel 4 started showing SG1 on their T4 segment (which is aimed at a teenaged audience), after the first episode, presenter Vernon Kay said "they [SG1] should be okay, they've got MacGyver on their side!"

Which is something like what I said when I saw RDA's first appearance as Jack O'Neill.

Watching and enjoying Season 7 on Region 2 DVD!

The whole Stargate SG1 Series is great to watch. I love the adventure, and action in each episode, although I will admit, some episodes are better than others, it is definetely worth your while. I remember when the series first aired in late 90's, I was hooked from the start! Plus, come on.. Richard Dean Anderson is the leading character! tongue.gif
