And we're back. With Season 4b or 5a...not really sure.

-Morocco, 10 months and one pandemic (we wish) later.

-Boomer Russ.

-This hack seems topical...maybe because in the newly released "MacGyver: Meltdown" novel, very early on MacGyver uses hot rocks in a spa as well...lol.

-Rotary phone joke. The boomer is not amused.

-Zürich. I've been to Zürich. The hotel I stayed at did not look like this...although it may also have been a front for something. happy.gif

-A long-standing reputation as a "peaceful establishment." Riiiighhhtt.

-Gustavo Salazar looks like every Latin American football (soccer) manager.

-"The trust was broken." *Camera change to behind Matty* "And then we got shut down by the pandemic." Spot which line was ADR'd. biggrin.gif

-"I'm not his dad!" Well....you may be filling that role...or something similar.

-Riley can't hack paper records? What good is she then? tongue.gif

-"I am Susie"...Franco-Swiss Robot Nurse at your service. I swear she had neck bolts.

-First half of the episode I wasn't sure if I was watching a Coltons-esque spin-off for a show called "Risi" or not.

-The guys are looking dapper and ready to join the party.

-Come on, guys. After all that spiel about how everything is in code, you didn't entertain the thought Vincent might have a way to indicate to Egor that you two weren't copacetic? whistle.gif

-The escape with the surgical tubing and tanks was pretty cool.

-Considering there was a lot happening in the second half episode I have to say I wasn't all that into the mission itself. It seemed largely secondary to the obvious storyline of the team hashing out their "post-Codex" issues. We'll see where next week's episode goes, but I get with the messed-up schedule and unaired episodes that this episode was probably the easiest one to retool into the "makeup episode" and bridge things to the new season. Still for a season premiere it was a bit lacking, although it's understandable.

-Vincent Sr. sounds like he should be a future villain du jour.

-Is it really your jet, Russ? smile.gif

-Budding bromance and "sis"-mance, eh? Hmm.

Don't need to guess - the change in audio for that line hits you between the ears like a brick.

Based on what we've seen of the BtS material for this episode, I was really curious and wasn't disappointed since I really liked it.

I do have some issues with putting the pandemic in as an afterthought, though. Are we really to believe they shut down a secret agency due to a pandemic? blink.gif

Remember the BtS video of Lucas doing his ADR in his own closet at home; sitting between jackets? We can only wonder where Meredith had to do hers tongue.gif

When people said Jesse couldn't act I wanted to give him the benefit....but now wow, his acting really is campy lol

I know they'll revisit it later, but it certainly seems shoehorned in at this point.

I think you mentioned in a blog that Lenkov likely only wanted a short time jump, but obviously current events have the new showrunners thinking differently.

And right? Last I checked crime didn't also get shutdown by the pandemic...if anything, wouldn't a think tank like the Phoenix Foundation be at the frontlines of a pandemic helping where they can? That would be seemingly more on-brand. unsure.gif

In the Season 4 Finale, Russ broke his leg.

So I would assume that they had planned for about a 2-month-time-jump; the same time span between them finishing up filming 4x13 in November and starting on 4x14 in January. Of course, just an assumption. Can't prove it tongue.gif

After all, the back-up order came rather late (when filming 4x12 I think), so they had a quite long filming break over Christmas. (Ironic that if they hadn't had such a long break, they probably would have been able to finish filming the season on time before they were shut down.) It's possbile that they took some older scripts or storylines they had thought about in previous seasons?

What's with the timeline here?

- Assuming we're going by airdate, Season 3 of Mac ended in May of 2019.

- Season 4 starts with "18 MONTHS LATER" which means, if my math is right, the first episode takes place in November of 2020. The season ends...I have no idea. The soccer episode is still 2020, so I'm assuming the entire series takes place between November and December. I guess.

- Season 5 begins with "10 MONTHS AND ONE PANDEMIC LATER" which means that Season 5 starts in October of 2021?

How does this square with this year's Magnum crossover? Magnum is stuck in December of 2020 to my knowledge...I think.

Anyone wanna chime in with thoughts?

There's no indication there will be a crossover of these shows. I doubt they will be able to film one with the pandemic and everything. MacGyver didn't even get a crossover last year without a pandemic going on.

There will be a "mini-crossover" of Jerry from H50 (played by Jorge Garcia) in the episode with production number 418 (filmed back in February) and that's it probably...

Magnum has an upcoming ep called "MacGyver PI". So that's why I'm confused. I'm just assuming we ignore the "18 months/10 months later".

What's the source for that? Because Magnum had already filmed 7 or 8 episodes before MacGyver even started production last month, so I'm not sure how they would have pulled that off; especially with mandatory quarantine of 2 weeks when travelling to Hawaii... hmm.bmp

The only one being available in Hawaii would have been Henry Ian Cusick (since he lives there).

I'm not quite sure how reliable the Fandom site is but they have all 16 eps named. I'm starting to wonder if that's somebody's wishful thinking and they just put up garbage.

Nevermind...they're faked. Somebody is having fun on Fandom.

yes, probably wishful FanFiction ;-)

I really had hoped for a crossover between MacGyver, H50 and Magnum PI, but that's a missed opportunity we'll never get.

I think the only CBS crime shows already dealing with a post-pandemic world are MacGyver, Magnum and NCIS LA, but since they're all filming so far apart, a crossover won't happen anytime soon.
