Dream or not. When Jack introduces himself to Mac in the dream as Andrew Jackson Dalton, he says he has no relation to the Dalton Gang. The Dalton Gang however was active between 1890 and 1892. Assuming the dream takes place in 1865 as MacGyver mentions he carried his gun for four years and serving under Sherman during the war, there is no way the Dalton Gang could've been known, since only two of the five Daltons from the gang were born. Of course it's just a dream.

Another 'error' as far as I found out the Ninth Cavalry in Texas was formed on July 21 1866 and arrived in Texas about a year later in 1867. Even though Mac says he carried his gun for four years which you might think was during the whole civil war between 1861-1865, it makes me think if Mac got into the war in 1863. But than you might wonder why he carried the gun for another two years after the war.

When Pete wakes Mac with the noisy sink he said he was just trying to get a drink of water. Standard for plumbing is that the hot water tap is on the left and the cold water is on the right. Pete was getting himself a glass of HOT water.
