Finally watched this episode the other evening . . . admired the lovely farm country of Surrey, BC, playing the role of central California. Complete with that lovely Canadian chill that caused people's breath to appear as visible vapour in some of the scenes.

Including the scene when Mac and the farm workers released from the holding cell and walk out of the jail into the evening.

And you hear crickets.

Oops.

Ah... at the risk of showing my ignorance... why no crickets? hmm.bmp

Crickets don't sing when it's cold. I think the temperature has to be 80 degrees Fahrenheit for them to sing at all.

If the temperature was warm enough to hear crickets, it would have been too warm for breath to show. The crickets were dubbed. (Although I thought it was terribly funny.)

when MacGyver is stopped at the beginning by the officer and told he needs to find another way to the garage for his overheating nomad as he tries to accelerate the Nomad dies on him. He then sees the migrant workers protesting and gets out to check on the protest, and clearly espically in the long shot that is shown, just leaves the broken down nomad Nomad in THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET and walks away from it. Even if the car is broken down hes still in the middle of a throughway road and would need to get it to the shoulder of the road.

when MacGyver and tony are driven off the road into the vineyards ditch, Tony grabs MacGyver and shoves him and tells him to run one way as he runs the other. If you watch and listen carefully you can tell this move was either not rehearsed or was ad-libbed by the actor playing Tony. RDA not only has a look of great suprise on his face but is thrown off balance and is pretty much thrown to the ground and he lets out this very weird YELP of suprise or pain as the actor playing Tony grabs him.

Didn't he have to stop because the road was closed? so it wouldn't matter if he left it there, cars can't drive on the road.

Just something I noticed. It's a bit hard to tell but when Lopez caught Mac messing with his jacket at the truck, Lopez says he remembers Mac from 'yesterday' helping out Tony. Except 'yesterday' Lopez and Mac haven't seen each other. The episode open on daytime, than we have the night Tony gets killed, than it's the next day when Mac wakes up again, goes the sheriff's station, retrace his tracks in the fields and find out about Tony's death. Than they go back to tell Carmen and than we have another night scene and than we have again the next day where Mac goes to the field again.

So unless something was cut out there's no way Mac and Lopez saw each other between the night Tony got killed and the day Mac's working in the field.

Maybe they filmed that part in differend order and didnt notice mistake? hmm.bmp

even IF the road was closed ahead and there was no through traffic allowed the cop isnt gonna let someone abandon a vehcile in the middle of the road. If Mac was able to drive to that point so would someone else and just because traffic is not allowed through doesnt mean cops and emergency vehilces are not using that road, espicailly in case say riot breaks out such as shown.

It would've been funny though if they showed the protest with Mac in the back pushing his Nomad to the side of the street. laugh.gif

And the cop didn't seem to helpful, so Mac probably figured: to hell with this.

When Mac and whatshisname are walking in the field where Mac was attacked, after Mac has his coughing fit, I saw a red beam flash across the screen, over RDA's jacket. Looked like one of those laser things that you can use with a gun.

I wonder if it was a problem with my TV or if anyone else can see it? I'm unsure if I saw it last time I viewed this episode.

When Mac and whatshisname are in the tank, they take breaths from the openings in the bottom of the ladder. Supposedly, air is being sucked from the top of the tank (a good 20 feet up) downwards into their lungs.

Someone should have told the writers that this is just not possible. That requires more lung power than any human being has, and they were bent over, breathing like it was a through a straw.

Again something I noticed. But it's very nitpicky. During the attack on Tony's car, the big bodyguard is firing a shotgun at them from the back of the truck. Though you need good eyes but during the shooting and also when he runs into the field the bodyguard is wearing his cap backwards. However when he hits MacGyver down he cleary wears his cap normally when the tractor passes by.

It is possible but very unlikely that the bodyguard set his cap straight off screen. I just can't figure why. You're chasing two people down the road into a field ready to kill them, why would you set your cap straight after killing one?

It's been a while since I saw this episode, so I cannot comment on some of the things mentioned. However, one plausible thing about the cap being turned around is that if the guy jumped out of a truck and landed funny his cap could have come off or been knocked askew. Ball caps don't always fit perfectly and it could have come off, he grabbed it as he ran, shoved it back on his head the normal way, then hit Mac. No idea, just my little possibility on how that particular point may have happened. wink.gif

Hmmm... I guess it could be like a "job done" thing, kinda like you see people straighten their tie and stuff in TV and movies after they knock someone off. It could be a cut scene too.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 4 December 2012 - 03:16 PM
Yeah but when the guy comes off the truck he's cap is still backwards as he runs into the field. Could be that he indeed set his cap straight after Tony was killed. Hard to tell since we we're following Mac crawling in the field.

When the guy hits Mac across the face, he hit him from Mac's right side but it is the left side of his face that is injured.

After Mac finished talking to Pete on the phone and talks with Carmen outside she mispronounces Alex' name as Alec at one point.
