I just saw Mountain of Youth again and I was always so stunned by the beauty of Mukti played by Roya Megnot. Though her acting career wasn't big, only tv-roles (MacGyver among other things), I actually began wondering what happened to her. Unfortunately I found out that she died in 2009 at age of 46 due to brain cancer.

QUOTE

Copied from datalounge.com:

Geiderman, Roya Lesa Beloved wife of Joel; mother of Camille, Ariana, Abraham, and Natalie; loving daughter of Parviz and Lillian Meghnot and Helen Geiderman; loving sister of Jilla and Neda; and loving sister-in-law of Ralph, Gail, Frank and Ricky passed away in her home in Beverly Hills on May 10, 2009 after a valiant battle with illness.

Roya (stage name Roya Megnot) was an accomplished actress who appeared regularly as Ava on the ABC soap opera Loving; on stage in multiple productions; on various nighttime television series; and in several small films. She had a beautiful singing voice; spoke French fluently, and played several musical instruments. Roya's best role was as wife and mother. She had a brilliant sense of taste and style and was known by all for her beauty, charm, wit, and warmth. She was also known for her design skills and her fabulous cooking. To her husband, children, and friends her loving knew no bounds. She was committed, caring, compassionate, and generous. Most of all, she had an appetite for life and all good things. She taught all around her how to enjoy each day and live life to the fullest. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90045. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Funds received will benefit The Johnnie L. Cochran Brain Tumor Center and The Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. (LA Times)

Sad news indeed.

Her appearance on MacGyver sure would brighten any persons day. She was such a natural beauty. And if some of you were wondering... she wasn't exactly 42 years old in MacGyver, I always figured 22 but it appears 29 in real life. Anyway wanted to share this with you. She really looked like a loving and caring person. May she rest in peace now.

I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver.

It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.

It is indeed sad news.

For anyone to die in the prime of their life is tragic.

Yea, I heard about this. Very sad indeed. She was quite a charming woman and apparently a lovely lady.

She will definately be missed. But never forgotten.

I know I am a couple years late to this thread, but I am watching Mountain of Youth as I eat lunch right now; and I felt compelled to look up Roya Megnot (Roya Lesa Geiderman) after being struck by her lovely smile and face and pleasant voice. As a person who watched MacGyver as a preteen, I decided to rewatch the entire series as an adult, with this being the last episode, and I just learned of Roya's early demise in 2009, which is quite tragic. I am glad to see though that she greatly loved and was loved by her family, and also that she was a very kind and compassionate person, as evidenced by her obituary and posts from friends who actually took the time to get to know her well (so please disregard the obviously distant haters).

Thanks for the thoughtful post CajunMacGyverFan & welcome to MacGyver Online!

I actually remember Roya from the soap opera Loving. And no, I didn't watch Loving. tongue.gif

My sisters used to watch it and I had no choice. ranting2.gif

But nonetheless, I distinctly remember Roya in that and she was brilliant. So I was surprised when I finally saw her in MacGyver years later with an accent. (She was American). biggrin.gif

That's funny about watching Loving with your sisters. There's no shame in that though. I used to watch Young and the Restless with my mom when I was a kid.

I'm glad you appreciated my post. Reading about people like Roya who tragically died at a younger age encourages me to make sure I am truly living life even as I work hard toward future goals.

Sad news for sure. A fine performance in an very good episode that is somewhat underrated, imo. I know, I know, it deals with a spiritual/mystic life/place that's worlds away from the normal MacGyver plot/scenario. But,,,, I encourage/urge any fan to spend a month trekking Nepal, Bhutan(expensive) or Tibet(restrictions apply), and then upon return review this episode, once again. You might (will!) see that they did a commendable job in capturing the essence of this region of the world & for/with only an LA setting to work with and Ms. Megnot was spot on in her performance!!!

I thought it was a very fitting final episode for MacGyver because of the mystical/spiritual element. Given his line of work, MacGyver wasn't exactly able to practice nonviolence, but he did not want to use guns, did his best to preserve life, and worked toward the betterment of humankind, animals, and the world in general. I would love to visit the places you mentioned, so maybe one day I will. Thanks for giving us some further insight into the appropriateness of Roya's portrayal of a woman from that region.
