MacGyver exits the Phoenix Foundation's main lab and heads across the car park towards his jeep. He pauses for a moment to look up an the brooding night sky, huddles his jacket around him as he pulls out his keys before continuing towards his jeep.
Just as he unlocks the door a bolt of lightning strikes at the other end of the car park. A huge white ball of energy forms just above the ground, hovers for a moment and then settles on the tarmac.
As MacGyver steps around from his jeep to take a better look, the ball of energy disappears revealing a T800 terminator cyborg.
The fight The terminator has a shotgun and a handgun with several reloads for both.
MacGyver has whatever he can find and his usual skills.
Who wins.. and how?
Disclaimer: I realize that normally the Terminator appears with no clothes or weapons... but where's the fun in that?

I think MacGyver would run to his car and take off to a decent place where he could use his skill. However little chance I think MacGyver has in surviving this one if it's hand to hand combat. The terminator is an unstoppable machine, doesn't care if he's hit or supposed to be dead. If his mission is to kill MacGyver, he will do whatever it takes.
Than again MacGyver has options though. If he runs to a gigantic factory or something. He can lure the terminator into a lavatrap or he can crush him, use cement. That can add up to the odds.
Do got a question though. What terminator model are we talking about anyway? The T-800, the T-1000 or the Terminatrix?

In that case; the options I mentioned.
Hmm, choosing between Mac and Arnie Schwarzenegger?

Mac.
Simply because I'm devoted to our man! Besides I hate the Terminator.
So, no reasoning here, just emotion talking here.
How can you hate the 'I'll be back' man?

So, the plan is:
Mac confuses the Terminator and then hits the switch on/off button of this stupid robot-dude.
Yup. Sounds like a good plan to me.
Mac wins and salvages any useful bits of the terminator to incorporate in to his breakfast making little robot. There is only enough residual terminator left in those little bits to make the breakfast robot revolt and drop an egg on MacGyvers landlady’s shoes instead of in the pan. So the failure of the breakfast making robot was the entire fault of the Terminator not MacGyver.

The T-800, the T-1000 or the Terminatrix?
Is there a difference? Which one was the good one? (Haven't seen it in such a long time and am not sure i was paying attention (until Michael Biehn turned up ) I’m not sure if I ever saw them all but have vague memories of Arnie being good in one and bad in another? This ignorance probably means I am to ill informed to be allowed to vote...but I'm going to anyway. And I vote MacGyver! (big surprise )

Arnie was the bad one in the first and the good one in the second and third.
And yes there is a difference, they all got upgrades. It's been a long time since I saw them. The T-800 was in the first one superior but the T-1000 has the ability to shift shapes and can camouflage himself. The Terminatrix is actually a female terminator with her own guns and abilities. Flamethrower in her fingers, automatic enlargers... um weapons.

um... you guys realize.. that terminators have no off switch right?
They are self contained cybernetic entities.. living flesh over a robot frame.
Actually they do, or how else can they be programmed? In the second film Arnie is injured and asks Sarah Connor to nurse him. He says that under the tissue of his head was some sort of chip that can turn him off and on. When she takes it out, she's a little reluctant to put it back in. I'm not sure this is the way how it exactly went. Been a long time, since I've seen it. But he sure has something that can turn him on and off. At least in the second film.

This was a really tough set-up – you didn’t give us much to work with here, Rocky! An empty parking lot and Mac’s jeep? And a movie that I saw once, 20 years ago, under protest, and barely remember.
From what I do recall, the Terminator was sent back in time with a specific target, and the ID was based on a name and a single photo. It didn’t necessarily kill everything in its path to get there, since it didn’t know exactly where to look. The first one – TX-800, right? – was a robot frame inside an, ahem, organic shell that was at least mildly susceptible to inconvenience when damaged. It didn't have the chameleon-self-healing metal feature that I recall from the next movie’s “upgrade”. It also had lousy social skills, and its human interactions were controlled by very simplistic programming, apparently in DOS.
So here’s my solution to the grudge match, stealing from being inspired by both MGod and Sheepy:
The Terminator has been sent back in time to kill Mac, supplied with his name and a photo. Fortunately, on the day it arrives, Mac has been testifying in front of a Congressional committee. He’s wearing a suit and dress shirt and a really hideous tie, and has even made a less unsuccessful than usual attempt to tame his hair. Accordingly, he doesn’t match the photo and the robot doesn’t recognise him. Instead, it asks him where to find MacGyver.
Mac figures out what’s going on (hey, maybe he watched the movie more recently than any of us did, as a break from Westerns) and fast-talks the robot with assurances that sure, he knows where MacGyver is and can take him there. Mac and the Terminator get into the night security guard’s decrepit old beater of a car, which Mac hot-wires, and Mac drives them both to a convenient wrecking yard.
Mac leaves the car in the crushing frame, with the Terminator in the passenger seat, telling it to wait. He rigs the car’s gas tank to blow, which doesn’t destroy the robot but does make it hard for it to get out, buying enough time for Mac to run the crusher on the car and pancake the robot. As a bonus for destroying the robot, Mac has Pete buy the security guard a new car.
Oh, and Mac gives Sheepy a kiss for rooting for him.
That’s my solution and I’m sticking with it.
