Don't you think Cynthia seems to be over her grief about Booker rather fast in the last scene, after such an intense scene when they carry away his body? I can dig a few days must've passed after Larson's arrest and Breeze joining the Challenger's Club with Booker's funeral taking place in those few days. But than in The Madonna Cynthia can barely keep it together.

Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you.
It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.

Grief is a funny thing. When my grandma died my mom held it together real good for the funeral (a lot of activity, etc. to keep her mind occupied), but it was later, even years, with certain holidays, songs, etc. when she would really get sad because they reminded her of grandma. I'm guessing this was what it was like for Cynthia...hold it together at the time and do what you have to do, but later unexpected things would trigger her grief.

Not at all.

She would have been in "auto pilot" during that time because she had so much to organize. Many people find the impact of lose doesn't really hit them until they finally have some quite alone time, or as uniquelyjas said, something triggers memories etc and that's when it finally hits them. Prior to that their minds switch into survival mode where you're focused on doing what needs to be done and while the mind is occupied with those things the grief is pushed aside.

Obviously it depends on the kind of person you are. I myself have found that in a "crisis" my emotions turn off and I become very cold and logical and just focus on dealing with the issue. The emotions come weeks, months down the track after it's all over and done with and I'm able to fully process the event away from the mayhem which usually surrounds such things.
