MacGyver, Leanna, Riley and Bozer pose as honeymoon couples at a resort in order to gain information about a Serbian war criminal from his newly married son while Bozer wonders if Matty knows about his relationship with Leanna, and Jack recruits Elwood (Billy Baldwin) to help him break into Matty’s home.

Loved this episode....

Ehh, it was okay.

I found the whole breaking into Matty's house thing a bit... silly. I don't think Jack is THAT stupid to think Matty would have fallen for the whole "breaking in" cover up.

Personally, I get the feeling that Matty has her reasons... possibly trying to protect Mac's father, and Mac himself. As much as I hate Matty's attitude, she doesn't come off as a bad person. I don't think she's up to anything malicious... but, if she is, I wouldn't be surprised.

I honestly think MacGyver should have been the one to break into Matty's house and get the proof himself... but that's just me.

The rest of the episode was okay. Typical. Nothing to write home about.

I really liked this episode. I'm all about relationships and interactions and this episode gave me lots of that. Jack and Atwood was great, and so was Jack and Jill. Mac and Bozer is always refreshing, Bozer and Leanne was cute, and I live for Mac and Riley. !!! So, it was great.

Anyone else feel that when Mac and Jack are apart it give MacGyver room to breath and be the person in charge - more like the original MacGyver?

Jack tends to over-power the scenes they're in at times.

I didn't really like this episode until the last 15 minutes or so. It was just "okay" in my book.

I did like hearing Matty say that she thought Bozer and Leanna's relationship was perfectly fine, and she approves.

Jack's subplot was pretty dorky, but tolerable. Mostly, I just felt bad for Jill. Jack, think of "Jack and Jill"! It can't be THAT hard to remember her name!

From what I've seen, this is how the ratings went this episode. Down a bit, but not bad. I'm assuming it was because of the long break in between episodes. I hear we'll have another two-week break after the next episode, probably because of March Madness.

I can confirm that the long break between episodes definitely had SOME effect on the ratings: I completely forgot that the show was coming back this past Friday, so I did not watch it.
I'll probably get it On-Demand this week, if I remember to look it up.

Ok, I finally got around to watching this episode. Or, rather, I should say I attempted to watch it. I think I got about 20 minutes into it, and then lost all interest, and shut it off (I gave up during the slow motion sequence of them stomping on the grapes.) I'm not sure if this was a particularly bad episode, or if my interest in this show just completely diminished during the hiatus, but for whatever reason, I really could not get into it at all.
Does anything really important to the overall story happen in this episode, or can I safely skip it and move on to the next one?

The ending was important, because Jack broke into Matty's house and got evidence that she was up to something, but there's a clip on YouTube to help catch ya up. And yeah, I get ya. I wasn't all that into this particular episode either.

Not sure if this is a good thing with the constant breaks. Ratings for all Friday shows keep falling. As Dragondog stated, it's not bad. But some peeps on Twitter stated about being surprised the show is back because they had thought Episode 2x15 was the Season Finale. Or saying that they forgot the show will be back that day. Since I was on holiday, I have no clue if they did much of TV promo beforehand. I'm sure the social media promo helped, but that usually reaches people that are already fans of the show, not the occasional TV viewer.

I'm sure she will turn out as the good "guy". Because they just had Thornton being the bad "guy" last season; they can't have another boss that turns out to be bad this season.

Also, with us letting believe Nikki being "bad" and then Thornton being a traitor, we had our fair share of bad girls last season.

Yes. While I like Lucas and George together - they have good chemistry and make a great team - George is the far more seasoned actor with not just more experience in years, but also the better acting range.

Problem is: Not only is Eads a very good actor, the writers LOVE Jack Dalton and write far too many good scenes for him. He's always been doing all the emotional work on the show which seems unfair to me because when Lucas has enough "room" to breathe, he can do emotions very well - especially in one-on-one-scenes as he has not only shown in many of his indie movie projects, but also in "smaller" scenes in the Reboot (e.g. with David Dastmalchian in 1x20, with Bruce McGill in 2x11 or the scenes with Amy Okuda in 2x10). He also should have more alone-scenes. So far, I don't remember him having a longer scene on his own since he found the film about him with his father.

He has the skills. It's too bad the writers still don't let him utilize it; because with the right director and a good cast member opposite, he can be brilliant. I understand why it's easier to have a team around you than carrying a show alone, but I think Lucas does better in "smaller" scenes without a bunch of others and a ton of props in it or with quick editing and lots of action.

Yes, the Reboot is a team show. But the show is named after a single character. I still think Lucas should get more "silent" and "small" screen time.

The phone screen showing Matty's file shows that there was an investigation on "A. MacGyver". So did Mac's father has the same name, or does this mean that the investigation was on Mac?

Anyway, I think they should have kept Mac's father's name being "James" like in the original version... I actually thought that had already been established, but maybe I merely confused this with FanFiction (because in pretty every Reboot FF I've read, Mac's father is called "James" MacGyver)...

I did too. Guess we'll find out. It wouldn't surprise me if the producers wanted to change Mac's dad's first name. They've changed a lot of other stuff.

When the episode started, I thought this was going to be lame. The forced newly weds thing and then especially hooking Mac up with Leanna instead of Riley seemed like a bad move. Of course the ending wouldn't have worked then with Matty showing some sort of sympathy for Bozer. But in the end this episode turns out better then expected.

Still I'm not hot for Leanna. She looks too much like Rihanna to me and I don't feel her, just as I don't feel Bozer. But I think Leanna is a better match for Bozer then Riley. Riley is out of his league.

They surely delivered one of the best final scenes I have seen so far. Since I'm in the last 6-7 episodes, I'm going to take my time with this and only watch one episode at a time now.

Besides what was that alcohol-thingy Mac poured in their drinks? Is that the stuff original Mac used to extract the alcohol from the eggnog in Phoenix Under Siege, only this time it has name? If they would just sell booze with that product in it that neutralises alcohol, nobody would have a drinking problem anymore. You can keep drinking (without knowing that you're actually not), not get drunk and still have a hangover. That's brilliant.

I like George Eads and as Jack Dalton, but he's so all over the place. MacGyver doesn't need a babysit or bodyguard. I think the team should break up more often. Maybe it's time Mac and Matty had an adventure on their own. A little more mixing would be nice.

This is exactly why Jack annoys me. I'm glad he cares about Mac, but I wish he'd show a little more respect for his boundaries. Mac isn't helpless.

This is what annoyed me about 2x04. I get that Jack wants to help Mac, but I wish he'd respect when Mac says, "Some things I need to do alone". Jack just gets so offended >_< But at least he cares. But I liked him better in season one.

I might be a little premature about it with still 6 episodes to go but I read here that writing became stronger in season 2... to be fair, I don't think season 2 is stronger then season 1. Season 2 started strong but then became a little less until the last Murdoc episode. I can't say much for the rest of the season yet. But I think season 2 has a few more weaker episodes than season 1. This is about 52/48 now. But season 2 has a couple of real strong final scenes then season 1.

It's all well and good that Jack cares and is willing to pull all the stops whenever a teammate is in trouble. Whether it's Mac or Reilly... but he should give them more space and the other team members should tell him so. Either he's all over the place or he's simply annoying, nearly childish. If it's not him, it's Bozer. It's like Mac and Reilly are the only matures in the team.
