Opening Gambit was Gr8! The episode was way too busy for my liking though, changed channels over to the Pens/Jackets game and then forgot to change it back.

Still a bit miffed we didn't get a REAL Frog Dog. But I guess an Easter Egg is better than nothing?

The forum went POOF before I could add my comments. I remember enjoying it much better than the Coltons episode in the original.

Really liked this one.

Just realized I never commented on this one.

Overall, I didn't care much for this one, but I like the Coltons as characters. Truth be told, I might enjoy a show about them more than I'm enjoying the current MacGyver reboot.

The opening gambit was pretty awful.

I had an opinion on this episode, but I forgot what it was... XD

Though, now I need to make buttermilk pie just so I can try it. It looks a lot like my Mom's lemon sponge pie.

Now I want pie...

The opening gambit was pretty awful.

I kinda liked the opening gambit. It was funny and a different setting, and quicksand really has an 80ies-action-movie-feel to it. It just wasn't... very MacGyver-like, I guess?

It would have worked very well on any other comedic show, though. I know I know, it's a reboot and can't really be compared to the original show, but... If you slap the name "MacGyver" on it, it should at least feel like MacGyver. And to me, it still doesn't. So as long as it's called MacGyver, I will compare these two shows.

I liked the episode overall. It was missing something (can't really say what), but I liked the Coltons; especially Mama Colton. I wouldn't mind seeing them again.

I was kind of surprised about the low ratings, though because I think this Episode really is one of the better ones; maybe even one of the best so far.

And here the Final Ratings via Showbuzz. As so often, it lost in demo ratings against "Last Man Standing":

Wow, an episode with less then ten replies. ohmy.gif

This one was again in the not bad not great degree. Despite a real pointless opening gambit, it was funny though, but just for once I would like to see Mac escape when he's neck deep in something and no I do not mean s***. biggrin.gif Sand or little stones are fine. I guess we'll never know how he escape the ruins with Atticus either.

Now, we get to the Coltons. What can we say about them? We've had an age reversal and a gender reversal. Billy's the oldest now, Jesse is younger or the youngest and Frank became a woman. Then why couldn't Charlie Robinson be white and Bozer had to be black? Not meant to be racial here, but it's something I think about, and what would they do with Mama Lorraine if she makes it in the reboot?

This episode did feel a bit crowded though. Mama Colton gave a little too much... lip, swinging kitchen knives, waving that shotgun in their faces. Seriously? I liked the Della Reese approach better. She would drag you home by your ear, spank your butt and put you in time-out in the corner.

The diner opposed to the restaurant was a nice touch and the portrait of Frog was also nice, even though I think, if they actually had a dog, it would've been better.

Although, I don't think it was necessary to have send Riley and Bozer out to the Coltons and stall them. Mac and Jack were in the middle of an escape and on their way back to the diner. They were able to solve this by themselves.

Also the dialogue on matters that doesn't apply to the situation at hand is not really necessary.

Not bad, not great.

Well that wasn't because of the episode, but because the forums were down (for almost two weeks I think?) and no one could comment.

By the time the forums were back up, one or two more episodes have aired so we kinda forgot to comment on this one.

That explains it. Well, we have ten now. biggrin.gif

You got a bit mixed up. Jesse was the gender swapped one, Frank is still male in this one

Whoops. I think I got confused. At some point Mama Colton refers to Jesse, I assumed it was to the other guy.
