MacGyver Online Forums > House Boat > Whats a good name for MacGyver fans

Posted by: KiwiTek 21 April 2012 - 03:39 AM
I've been thinking about this...

Star Trek fans are referred to as trekkies; StarGate fans are gaters; West Wing fans are wing nuts and so the list goes on.... but what are MacGyver fans?

What would be an appropriate name to encompass us as a fan group?

I've come up with some probably pretty weak ones like Mackers or SAKers, but can anyone else think of any better ones?

Sounds like food. laugh.gif

If we want a fanhood name I don't think we can do much except base it on the characters name.

tongue.gif 'Gyver 'hood

~ that has nuances of both "brotherhood/sisterhood" AND "neighbourhood", doesn't it !?!

That could be an excellent collective group name for the MacGyver fans, if the name " 'Gyvers " is selected as the most popular.. happy_dance.gif

I do like the sound of 'Gyvers for the individual fans, too ~ got a sort of Gaelic or backcuntry resonance to it ~ and it seems to roll off the tongue easily,
(where a couple of the other suggestions sound clumsy or a bit like "clunkers" if you say them out loud a couple of times ~ try this for yourselves..).

I just read an interview with RDA from years back, on Kate Ritter's site, in which he talks about MacGyver fans as the 'Mac Pack'.
So that would make us Mac Packers. Nice.

I still like MacGyverite best, though.

Mac Packers has a good ring to it for me. Kinda invokes outdoorsy images.

I vote Mac Packer

I think since MacG.gif himself referred to us as the Mac Pack, we should go with that.
