Well, it's about time. I voted for good. I guess this also the first episode about endangered animals. Plus it's Eagles not Engles

I voted for good, too. "Eagles" is actually one of those episodes I haven't seen in a while, but I definitely liked the way MacGyver handled the child and his mother. This was probably one of the first episodes to showcase one of MacGyver's many environmental concerns, that being endangered animals. The show touches on this topic again in "Faith, Hope & Charity" as well as "Black Rhino" and probably some others I forgot. And I always marvel that MacGyver has no problems with hang gliding, though he's made it quite clear in more than one episode that he hates heights. I guess I always looked at it as MacGyver's responsibility makes him do the things he has to do, even if he doesn't like them. (Like when he parachutes off the cliff in the "Pilot", or when he and a horse get picked up by helicopter in "Thief of Budapest", or when he rides a hot air balloon in "The Gauntlet" and again in "GX-1".)
And you can't forget that great closing number when MacGyver came home to the Hotel California!
(Oh, sorry. Wrong Eagles! )

QUOTE Mac fought his fears and flew!!!!!
As far as I remember, Mac never had a fear of flying. so the Hang-Gliding wouldn't have worried him, becasue he was in a harness and in control of the flight.
I think his fear of heights was, like many of us, more a fear of falling from the height rather than just being up high.
zhennu Posted on Mar 18 2005, 12:59 AM I remember part of this episode. I had walked in my brother's condo one weekend, kinda sad that I missed the beginning of the episode, but eager that I could catch the rest (it was the last rerun of that episode for the night).
I rate it excellent. Caretaking ability, hang-gliding scene, and the rest of the landscape were awesome. Oh nearly forgot, the storyline was sweet.

One of my 12 fav's in no particular order. As already said Mac is just great with Susan and Darin and when he is so caring wit eagle, feeding him that’s so cute
Unfortunately I haven't seen it in a while because my tape got lost; so I maybe can't remember the scenes I like most word by word
Mac: Did you ever tell her that?
Darin: She doesn't listen.
Mac: If you don't say anything, what can she listen too? *Mac looks friendly to Darin* Just a thought!
Mac to Susan after the little go to bed-fight with Darin. "Did you know that the only arguments I ever had with Mom, were about bed time. I finally let her stay up till 10!" (So I'm not the only one, who didn't and doesn't like!)
*wonders* CD, you don’t know why this situation sounds soooo familiar to me, do you?

I love the realism they put in when Mac was trying to hit the grinding stone and kept missing, and his voice-over that went with the scene.
smcstrav Posted on Jun 2 2005, 02:18 PM I like this episode a lot. I always love the ones with great scenery. One of the reasons I like MacGyver as a show is because of all the different places we get to visit.

Just voted excellent! I have a 5 YO and this is the only epidsode so far that I've let him watch--it's got a story he can grasp, a great little kid, and is very mild as far as violence goes. He was a little shaky the first time he saw it because he's very sensitive to anything he perceives as having the potential to be scary (did that even make sense??), but now that he's seen it through a couple of times, he asks to watch it. Great episode! I love the line about bed time too!

Yeah, and no Mac, either. Bummer! Still, that's pretty cool!

I'm a little late. Í vote good because this is a good mac-ep but not one of my favorites. I wonder that when he is climbing the mountan he has no jacket en when he's on top he has his nice blue jacket (my favorite). Mac is wonderful with kids and animals, I love kim in that.

Another one of my all-time favourites!! Ex-cellent!
I figured he had the coat stuffed in the hang-glider tube, but it makes sense that he would have a backpack or something that he could haul up with a rope, as we saw him doing with the hang-glider at one point.

This is one of my fav. episode of season 2. it's the first time in the series we get to know how much Mac (or RDA) loves animals and enjoys nature. sinmply the best episode with animals.

I like it. I think that in this episode is where you see that Mac is nuts. You see, hanging from a dog leash is not what you may call normal. I think that is also the type of mountain climbers you never hear from again, apart from the ones that climb down in the middle of a snow storm.
This episode has also given me an idea: Hangliding. Man, i can't wait to do that. I'll tell if I ever do it, and if I make back in one peace of course
In my oppinion, Graham Bell has a lot to answer for. It gets harder and harder to escape from the world, the news and worst of all, people.

This episode is definitely one of my favorites. I just watched it again the other night. It reminds me of when I was a child, not only because I was a wee little thing when the show first aired, but also because I used to go to Girl Scout camp in areas like that. It makes me very nostalgic. Ahh...I love the outdoors.
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer."
I love the voice-over while MacGyver's trying to hit the grinding wheel through the shed window.
He comments on how the wheel looked big when he was beside it, but now that he's a distance away, it's a lot smaller target and harder to hit than he thought it would be.
It's funny and shows that he doesn't always consider all the facts of whats he doing.

This is one of my daughter's favorites. Mine too. We both agree that the whole relationship between Mac and the boy Darrin, and the eagle and Mac are very touching, The bad guy is quite a character, good development. The actor Michael McRae was also in the Challenge and in Blind Faith. The jaw dropping is my kids idea. She is right here. I liked the use of McRae for the episode. I always wanted to know what the other guy was thinking. Anyone?
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."
My heart jumps in my throat during the part where he climbing, slips, and smacks into the side of the mountain to make his nose bleed. I'm terrified of heights so I almost, well you know.

I love this episode for a lot of reasons: the scenery, the hang gliding, the eagles, the MacGyverisms, a radiant looking Mac, etc.
One particular reason is this scene: the way the dog reacts when Mac is flying over. The boy sees it coming, the dog has no idea. The moment it does happen, the dog starts, jumps, and looks very surprised after that. So cute.

One of my fave lines.
By the way I love that Mac's red woolly hat It's one of my faves.
Mac was so sweet with those eagles. My heart just melt away.
By the way if it's possible can we have that pic of Mac with the eagle as avatar here? Or do we have it already?? I would LOVE to have it as avatar. It's so cute pic.
