If my memory is right some peoples few years ago in this forum tried to find this exactly same hockey table what Mac owned, I don't remember was it ever found but here it is:

Chexx Bubble Hockey

That "Store" page in MacGyverOnline does have this one little bit similar table called Super Stick Hockey Table by Carrom. So it would be nice if somebody would change it to this Chexx Bubble Hockey.

Yup & they cost a pretty penny, too. I was going to get one last year ..... but the temperature in my garage drops down below freezing in the winter .... and CHEXX will only guarantee the electronics down to 4 Celsius, I think. They're very well made though and still the industry leader in that board genre.

Yeah, that would be the more 'centsible' way to do it. I think RDA said in an interview after buying his that it was a sort of a special treat for himself. The CAN-USA $$ is too far off now to consider it, plus I'd have to pay an extra $1200 or so in duties. Would be over $5000.00. Ridiculous, fool and his money soon part. blink.gif Lots of really good games (sans bubble) out there to be had in both the used/consumer market. The really more tailored for the bars/pubs and with the coin start option in so that you can recoup some of that expense.

Still, would be great to own one. Then of course theres the space issue.

I picked one up at a thrift shop several years back. It's a Cooper brand and the surface measure approx.: 44" x 34". In comparison the Super Chexx board surface measures 60"L x 36"W ..... so about the same width but considerably shorter in length ..... which helps when trying to 'fit it in' somewhere. Chexx recommends a good 9 feet room space to maneuver the rods freely enough. I think the Cooper game originally sold for about $200.00 and I picked it up for $15.00. Once the kids grow up and the families start downsizing, households can't get rid of these 'space eaters' fast enough and so there's always a bargain to be had for the frugal, patient shopper. Albeit these cheaper makes play well, but don't stand up to the wear & tear nearly as well as the more expensive, better built models. But hey, for a bit of fun a few nights a month ..... they'll do just fine.

That's a neat find, for a pretty good price too! American Pickers would be jealous. XD I used to watch that one and Clean House all the time. The stuff these folks find is pretty amazing.

I'd love that table Joe! It's amazing the things you can find out there. In a way, it's a shame Ebay took away some of that, but then again you can find things there you wouldn't find anywhere else anymore.

Yeah, I've seen several really nice ones for sale on Ebay at a good price ..... but the freight cost is frightening for these big things .... and so much, much better if you can manage to find one for sale 'around town' ... or maybe find one online that's a 'free local pickup'.

Mine actually had one of the players broken when I bought it (thus the lower price) and so I had to stake out the usual sites for a few months to find a replacement .... eventually finding one on Kijiji. I have it down stairs in the garage for the summer, but the car will be going in soon and still renovating the upstairs so will have to 'resituate' it for the winter months this year.

We used to play those Super Chexx's models all the time as most every popular sports bar would have one in their games room .... so much fun and with very smooth moving mechanisms!!! Wonder if RDA still has/plays his game? ..... or perhaps he's moved on to other interests nowadays ........ be a great question to pop out to him at one of those meetups ..... Hey, still got your Super Chexx? Sure to bring a candid response from him to be certain! biggrin.gif

Definitely nice. But as you say the delivery costs are astronomical. If youre in the U.S. no doubt. Worldwide, probably around the same price as a ticket to outer space. biggrin.gif

Denizen, there's one of those things in every household growing up in 'Hockeyville', Canada ...... and we can be almost certain that it was/is the same in Minnesota and that a young RDA would have had an Eagle or Munro brand board under the family Christmas tree at some point in his youth.

Now ..... having said that, I wouldn't say that table/board hockey is totally an extinct item in South Africa, but they sure can't be overly numerous down there. hmm.bmp biggrin.gif

You have me beat Denizen. I live in hockey country (for Pennsylvania). Pittsburgh is just 3 hours from me, Philly about the same distance, and Penn State has a great hockey team 30 minutes from my house, but haven't been able to score tickets to any of them. When they do become available, it's beyond my means.

Pro hockey tickets have moved passed the average fan and are really only affordable on a regular/seasonal basis for the corporate types, nowadays. Who to blame? Agents, lawyers, and, ultimately, the players who are demanding the big salaries. The good news is that most games are now available via cable or live streaming at a fraction of the cost. Or ..... you can just buy a board and make your own Wednesday Night league with your buddies and a few boxes of beer!!! w00t.gif
