Can someone help me?
I have the Macgyver Collection in DVD (7 boxes with every season). They are in 4/3 (also called 4:3 and 1.33:1). So old TVs aspect.

If someone has the box: Macgyver the Complete Collection (Only 1 box for all season), can tell me if the aspect of the screen is 16:9 (it also called 1.77:1)? I' d like to buy it the serie to watch in whole screen (modern TV s aspect).

I want to be sure that if I buy it, it is not the same i have it.

Thanks

I'm not sure what the specs are for the Complete Collection, but from what I've heard there's been no change in the resolution. Pretty much what you've got is the same across the board... even with the Complete Collection. If I'm wrong, please... someone correct me.

In fact, when I thought about buying it on DVD, I thought about buying the original Collection instead because it has better boxart. HOWEVER, I've decided against it and just been buying each season separately via Amazon Streaming.

Yes 1.77:1 is same as 16:9 smile.gif

As long as the resolution stays in standard definition (720x480), it's going to be 4:3. The show was copied from broadcast video tapes to DVDs, so it's SD quality and always.

If you watch the seperate season boxes or the Complete Collection which both are 4:3, you should be able to watch them both in 16:9, meaning the DVD player will automaticly stretch the image to fill the whole screen in HDTV. It's slightly distorted image, but only way to see it as rectangle without cropping the image. Playstation 3 was only player where I had to stretch the picture size manually to fill the whole screen.

Older DVD players may not stretch the 4:3 image to 16:9, so the picture stays square. I recommend also checking some setups if it's possible to do manually.

Thank You very much for your help. Well, if the quality and aspect screen is the same, at least I have saved some money without buying the other box set. Waw!!! It is a very useful information about DVDs in macgyveronline!!!!

Yes i have found the way to watch it in 16:9 pressing the bottons of the remote control. It was a great help. Thanks.

Yes 1.77:1 is same as 16:9 smile.gif

Also if you divide 16 by 9 you'll get 1,77777778 = 1.77 (1.77:1)

this is the calculation where it's coming from. Sometimes 1.77:1 will be showed as 1.78:1
The 1.78 is coming from if you roundup the second 7 to 8.

4:3 Aspect Ratio is 4 ÷ 3 = 1,33333333 = 1.33 (1.33:1)
