| Nice photo. Gallery quality shot. When I worked in the art gallery, this was the type of photo that drew people in. Where was it taken? What kind of camera did you use? |

| Was taken on one of our hikes up the mountain.. well actually up the stream, up the mountain. Was taken with the http://www.macgyveronline.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2623&view=findpost&p=33474. It's slightly out of focus becasue I was kinda perched on a big log to get the angle. One day we'll be back in that area and I'll take a better focused picture. |

| My grandmother used to take pictures of that quality. She used to sell them, and I always thought she should try to contribute to National Geographic. Her house was filled with amazing photos from around the world, and their clarity and attention to small details was absolutely stunning. Some people think it is easy to take pictures, that there is no art behind it, but really, in photos like yours and my grandmother's, it takes a practiced eye to know what to focus on and leave a stamp of the photographer's personality on it, much like a signature. My grandmother went so far as to never abandon her darkroom for the digital camera--she believed it cheapened her art. Anyway, babbling along...  Excellent work! It looks so lush and wet that I could plunge into it right now!  |

I think this one was taken around the same spot. Not as artistic as the first shot, but still quite a nice relaxing photo. |

My artistic flair lately has been in sculpting and painting on action figures...lol. I've still got a MacGyver in progress, but I wanted to show off this one, which is not related at all the MacGyver. I figure there are enough fans around here to appreciate it.  Meet Indiana Jones... This is the mock up and how the figure looked to begin with:  And here's a work in progress pic, showing the sculpting I did and most of the painting done.  You must excuse the weird pose...his joints are curing! My plan: Finish him in time for the movie premiere...which is TOMORROW! ACK! |

| Amy, this is just wonderful! You have done one helluva job with the sculpting! I love the cuff and the collar, and especially the rip in the shirt (but wasn't his whole sleeve missing in the first movie? *hint hint* ) Well, maybe I should show around my re-painted Stargate desert figures as well: Right from the beginning when I first laid eyes onto the pictures of the new desert figures, I didn't like the green splotches. So, all the time I said, I want to repaint them. Which I did. In addition to that, Daniel has the wrong sleeves at his uniform, so I painted the cuffs of him green, so that it looks more like the other jacket. I also gave Jack silver hair instead of the brown one.   |

| Astra! Glad you posted these. You did an amazing job on that camo. Compared to what you did, the before figures look like a child blotted the camo on. Super job! I wanted to update my earlier post because Indy is done! I won't get to see the movie till Saturday, but my figure just squeaked by to get done for the release day! I'm beyond speechless, actually, because when seeing the figure how it was to begin with - one needs a great imagination for seeing Indy in there! *rushing over to the album, now* I will get to see the movie at Tuesday, when it is cheaper. See...that there...is why I did this. Just cuz I KNEW Lothy would *sqee* for me! (((Lothy)))I had to have the scar...it was one of the first features I put on him. I almost left the scruffy stuff off his face because I wasn't sure I could make it look right, and I didn't want to cover the scar. Turns out the scruff accents the scar nicely. Oh...and Astra...you were certainly right earlier about the sleeve being completely gone in the movie (pretty good for a not-yet-fan!). I had to at least cover his shoulder because of the way the shoulder was made. Thanks a bunch guys! I'm more proud of this one than any I've done so far.  Even MacGyver. But he'll be soon getting his tweaks. |

| Thanks Trtl. I have a couple of new projects in the works and if I get them finished before I go to Scotland, I will post pictures them here. I love jewelry design. There is something so satisfying about taking individual pieces and bringing them together in a united whole. I find it very soothing mentally, especially when I'm weaving chain, the repeating pattern, the smooth feel of the rings in my hands and the slinky completed chain just really make me feel good about my creations. It also doesn't hurt that I have recently gotten a lot of recognition for my work. I was in New York city last week for job training and a half block from the hotel where I was staying is an art gallery. I went in exploring one day and wearing one of the chains I made. Long story short, a gallery rep has invited me to submit samples of my work for consideration and inclusion in the gallery. How cool is that? I might be selling my work in an art gallery in New York City soon. |

| Thanks guys. Its only taken 19 years, but maybe this jewelry gig is finally going to start paying some bigger dividends. I'm just pumped that they think my work is good enough to be included in their gallery. If I get in, then I might just have to go for a booth at the Utah Arts Festival (the big 4 day one) next year. I'll let you guys know how it goes. |

| I wanted to show how I use ordinary things in different ways. So, this is the inside of a "Surprise Egg". You know these? Chocolate egg with a little toy inside?  I thought the round yellow plastic would make a perfect lamp for my K.I.T.T. model:  (Sorry, the shot is a bit blurry). Of course I also made the lamps so that they can be turned in and out. Here is the rest of the model, only made out of plywood, cardboard and some plasticine.    Of course also the doors and roof top can be opened, and I made the little screens that way so that I can put different pictures into them. You also can turn the wheel and move the gear shift. The seats are just a bit of paper surrounded with wool, and when I figured I could not put them directly onto the bottom or there would be no room for legs I used part of a cork, which you can't see in the pictures.   The axes of the car are made from spokes of a bicycle. The tires are from an old toy car of my brother, but all the rest I did myself. I sawed the plywood, I painted all the little digital displays. And the licence plate is actually a gum sticker that were around at the time, which happened to be the perfect size. I found it at a table in school, but the right down corner was missing, so if you look closely you can see where I painted the rest to match. And the side mirrors even have little mirror foil in them, another thing that happened to be left over from the things in a surprise egg. I don't know anymore what kind of plastic I used for the windows and windshield, but it may be from the wrapping of a praline box or something. So, basically, since I was a child, I collected all kind of things, with the intention of "one day I might have a use for it". At other times I look at something and immediately have an idea how to use it. PS: I even made myself a little Michael to go with it, but believe me, you don't want to see him, poor guy is still naked after what, 15 years. Never got around to make him a little leather jacket as I intended to. |
