The lint from clothes dryers is incredibly flammable if kept dry and here's a clever way to use it to make home made fire starters from http://www.thegreenwife.com/2010/01/27/kindling-gone-green/.

Instead of tossing out your lint, save up toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls and even wrapping paper tubes. Cut the longer ones into smaller sections, stuff them with lint and you have yourself some great fire starters.

I've been flipping through these posts and am amazed at how many of these Boy Scouts uses! They had to make a survival kit and one of the things suggested for the kit was this.
My son (11), made sure he had some paperclips and duct tape in his! One of the boys asked why on the paperclips and my son said because you never knew when you'd have to diffuse a bomb.
