I voted good. Not particularly a great episode. Storyline reminded me of "Three for the road" (hope I get the title right)

I 'hate Pinky, he's over dramatic.
The bad guys were way too cheesy.

The only good things about this eppy were MacGyver and the many MacGyverisms (I loved how he broke the fall using the curtain) And again, his boot saved the day.
Liked the part where the set falls down on the crooks and Mac and Pinky remain standing.

I really enjoyed "Deadly Silents" (the episode- not the other kind! biggrin.gif )

This was just a good fun, 7th. season episode. I think MacGyver wearing a Hawaiian shirt put the whole episode into a rather relaxed mood. But of course, even when he's just hanging out with a friend, he has to get embroiled in some mess. And there's a fun chase for Pinky's old movies that ensues. And like in the classic Western scenes, MacGyver and Pinky get tied down to the train tracks!
(And escape, of course!) smile.gif
And flipping open a Swiss Army Knife was pretty cool! And that is pretty tough to do! That was a cool escape, sliding down the curtain that way. And Mac and Pinky escaped from drowning with his homemade grappling hook- and then setting up the stage props to fall on the bad guys. Definitely a lot of cool MacGyverisms throughout in this episode. And the obligatory Paramount Theaters cameo was pretty cool too! wink.gif
Overall, it was just a fun episode and I liked it a lot.

Overall, this episode isn't my favorite, but somehow I still have fun when I watch it. Yes, it also reminds me of Three for the Road--the legendary old actor re-living (and trying to salvage) his glorious movie past. The bad guys are ridiculous, but I still laugh at them--what morons!

Some quotes I like from the (more) idiotic bad guy:

"That guy is totally awesome!"

"The brainy dude...he's like some Houdini or something!"

"Who's this stud?"

Those are completely cheesy eighties expressions, and I laugh every time that guy says them. laugh.gif

By the way, does anybody notice that the actor who plays Pinky is also in an episode of Stargate? wink.gif

Love this episode!

Pinky is such a hoot! He's just so adorable, reminds me of a dear old professor I once had.

Just one little negative comment: MacGyver badly needs a clothing stylist. WHAT IS WITH THAT SHIRT?!

I'm not so worried about the shirt.. it was after all the style back then.. I'm more concerned about why he insists on doing up the very top button on all his shirts.

This episodes only rates as an average for me. I did like the way they used the FX as part of the story line, although the fact that Mac and Pinky couldn't tell the difference between a sound studio and being outside on real train tracks was a little hard to believe...

oh and for some reason the scene where the bad guys run over the board with nails an blow their tires seemed to stand out as really wrong, because tires don't explode like that when you puncture them... just seemed like too much of an exaggeration.

Other than those 2 things... its an ok episode.

Agree! Kinda makes the episode that much more fun! I voted good. Liked the watertank escape.

This was OK. Unfortunately after Good Knight MacGyver and in the last six episodes, the upcoming three I didn't really liked that much at first. I made my peace with Deadly Silents and Gunz 'N Boyz. Deadly Silents was an OK episode. With still shades of Good Knight MacGyver in the memory, I think it's quite odd to be in the present time again.
Noticable things about this episode: there aren't any extra's and the cast only exists out of four peoples during the whole time. So this must been the smallest and cheapest episode since either ever or since Hellfire.
Good MacGyverisms though.
And indeed Mac's shirt didn't go with the pants.

roller.gif He reminds me of a teacher I had at secondary school. More his appearance than his personality. He was really small and wasn't good at getting kids to behave and listen but if you decided to behave and pay attention he was great at teaching his subject.

I vote ok. I liked Pinky and it was a fun episode. Its one of the better ones in season 7 for me but not that good if I compare to the other seasons.

Well, this episode was technically from 1991, but "totally awesome" is a pretty good 1980s phrase- as is studmuffin! biggrin.gif

And what was wrong with MacGyver's Hawaiian shirt? That and his shades gave him a cool Magnum, P.I. kinda look! smile.gif

I voted OK. Not my favorite eppy of S7. Pinky was too whiny and overly dramatic for my taste, and the bad guys were a little too dim to be believable. I did like the use of special effects, though.

This is one of those eppys that's fun to watch once or twice, then it gets old.

That was the SG-1 episode called 'The Sentinel'... good ep!

Henry Gibson also appeared in 'Harry's Will' as the driver of the car full of kids at the Chicken Habit, when Big Mama and Dent wreched the chicken.

Henry is a cute old fella, no matter what project he is working on. smile.gif

I voted OK for 'Deadly Silents'. I don't see how anyone as obsessive and careless as Pinky could live to be that old! tongue.gif

That's just his bravery that keeps him alive. He's not easily scared.

Actually I find it hard to believe that he would really be that old. He seemed rinkelless in Harry's Will and the next year he is full of it. That had to be a mask, just to make him look that he really lived throughout silent movie time.

As dumb as this episode was, I have to admit that I did enjoy watching it. Sure, it's a far cry from the classics of earlier seasons, and it can definitely serve as proof that the show was running out of steam, but it's still harmless fun, and at least it's not preachy. After some of the stuff we had to endure in seasons 5 and 6, with Mac always out for a cause, it's kind of nice to just have a bunch of fun episodes in season 7.
Well, at least until "Gunz & Boyz...."

One of the worst episodes of this show. Plot was boring and Pinky and the villains were annoying.

Totally agree! I think the annoyance factor is what really gets me with this episode.

I've been trying to hang onto the magic during season 7, but this one really seems tired.
The plot is lack-lustre, the villains are cardboard cutouts, and the only redeeming feature is watching Mac getting exasperated with Pinky...

Sorry guys, I just can't like this one headbutt.gif

This one is a real yawner. Henry Gibson overacts and the whole hour is a unintentional yet subtle plea for the network to stick a fork in this series because it was well done ..... like the Griswold's Christmas turkey.

Not really one of my favorites either. I'm guessing it was supposed to be funny, but every season had at least one "yawner" episode though. Season 7 still had some good episodes in it, so it wasn't really that bad. You could just tell RDA had enough.

I liked it. I'm not sure why they needed to put much effort into treading water, though. In a swimming pool, in the absence of tides, currents, waves, etc, a person doesn't have to much to stay afloat.

The way they came down the wall safely was pretty cool. But what really did it for me was MacG.gif in the water and underwater. I liked that they remembered to do close-ups. Usually, the stunt scenes don't seem well filmed so that I used to assume RDA left most of the stunts to his stunt double till I read a bit more about him. I don't mean to disrespect the camera crew or editors: they were on a very tight schedule and all that.

Also, Mac in peril - tied to what looked like a railway track. I wanted to swoop in and rescue him. Er, and Pinky, of course. I mostly remember Henry Gibson playing a judge on "Boston Legal".

This was a fairly good episode that made good use of movie practical effects to create a kind of house of horrors for Macgyver and Pinky to navigate. I am always pleased to see the SAK make an appearance, I wonder if Swiss Army Knives sponsored the show?

The Macgyver fashion was on point this episode, flowery shirt and khakis!

I did not like the idiotic villain sidekick with his 'dude' and stupid haircut.
Typical villain negligence of leaving your enemy to slowly die without checking on them, giving them a chance to escape. Still, it was an incredible escape. I would have thought he would tie one end of the pipe and blow into the other to make a float.

Brilliant finale with the falling hotel wall, great tribute to the old silent movies.

Pinky's line: 'I don't blame you for watching your fanny.' Has quite a different meaning in the UK as it does to the US biggrin.gif

Personal score: 3/5
