QUOTE (MiracleMac @ 14 October 2014 - 01:51 PM) | On A Wing And A Prayer
Camp
Address: Rannie Rd, Grant Narrows Regional Park |
Okay, MiracleMac is bang on(as usual) with this one. I can only add from gleaning the notes, that the central 'Set Location' (parking/meetup) was 7.5 kms from the intersection of McNeil/Rannie Road. The location notes identify it as 'Pit Polder' and 'Pitt Addington Wildlife Area" - "North End of Rannie Road". It was from this point that the three sets (Crash Site, Rebel Camp, & Dalton Air Dock) were organized.
The Crash Site being furthest southwest, Dalton Air Dock up the Pitt River to the northeast, and then the Crash Site being located still further Northeast but on the South side of the Rannie Road and possibly along a body of water that feeds into the Pitt River or Pitt Lake.
Oh, the 'Crew Shuttle Point' for this episode was the "Wild Duck Inn". The Wild Duck Inn was a rather historic BC landmark and, sadly, demolished in January, 2008 and to make room for the new Pitt River Bridge.
I might add that this episode's cinematography was one of the more stunning location sets for the entire series in my books. Tripadvisor has many rave reviews about it too as a top nature attraction and a not to be missed BC destination!

QUOTE (MiracleMac @ 6 March 2015 - 02:02 PM) | In "Live And Learn" episode, when they're sitting in class in first scene, you can see outside thru the windows and see the other buildings windows, so last summer when I was trying to figure out that school location with google earth, I had a list of all high schools in Vancouver, I started early in the morning, four hours later... no result |
Okay, just found this - the outside shot of the school is at a different location then the internal classroom clip and is actually the Lord Strathcona Elementary School, 592 East Pender Street in Vancouver. The school name above the door appears to be left unaltered but the camera blurs it out effectively .... at least on my monitor it does.

Squamish, BC was the town set where 'Logjam' was filmed. The cast crew were to convene @ 38000 Block, 2nd Avenue. 38073 & 38044 2nd Avenue are specifically noted for scenes including Amy putting up posters, Mac seeing Amy get out of Sheriff's 4x4, internal Sheriff's station scenes etc. The logging scenes were filmed @ the GVRD Seymour Watershed / Demonstration Forest in North Vancouver and also in Stanley Park (trail near Prospect Point). The sawmill set was the 'Pattar Sawmill' @ 8081 River Road in Delta, B.C.( a quick Google suggests that that mill has now gone the way of the Dodo Bird).

Yes, MiracleMac - it was IPSCo steel plant on Mitchell Island. RSR(Richmond Steel Recycling) was/is also on the same site and (apparently) has been used in several films where cars need to get crushed up a bit on screen. Thus - have we seen this site before in another episode or two? edit: Hey look at this .. seems like the 'Hearts of Steel' episode was partially based on or adapted from a reality situation that was unfolding there at the time and at that very plant, also explains why the plant was dormant & available for filming back in the day: QUOTE | Ipsco threatens to dismantle plant
REGINA, Saskatchewan (FNS)--Unbending steelmaker Ipsco Inc. has given the Canadian Association of Industrial, Mechanical and Allied Workers union until Jan. 2 to come up with satisfactory contract language or it will dismantle a British Columbia plant acquired from Cominco Ltd. of Vancouver, British Columbia, last month.
When Ipsco first agreed to buy Western Canada Steel's Mitchell Island plant in Richmond, British Columbia, president Roger Phillips said Ipsco would reopen the plant and save the jobs of some 350 workers "if" the union gave up some contract provisions it had fought hard to obtain.
Subsequently, Ipsco paid Cominco Canadian $17 million for Western Canada Steel--including a second plant in Calgary, Alberta, on Nov. …
