I've noticed that these days, most shows use popular songs of the day as background music. MacGyver never did that... I wonder if it just wasn't done back then??

Anyway, are there any songs you can think of that would go well with the show?

One I think of right off the bat is the song "Kite" by U2. It would be perfect in Passages.

I also think of their songs "Sunday Bloody Sunday," and "New Year's Day," which might go well in Children of Light.

How about Stan Rogers' song Going Up Flying? It pretty much tells the entire backstory for "Thin Ice":

Coaching these kids to the top, and calling them men;

Interesting idea.

The original Knight Rider show did it before MacGyver was ever aired (although it was mostly for driving montages I think) but it was done, so it must have just been a decision by the production team to use the more traditional incidental scoring.

There's always the beginning of Black Rhino with Mac in the white jeep enjoying the scenery. But that's about it, I think.

Though I was never in favor to hear songs in series or films. It was like they wouldn't bother to find a composer to go along with and just use something else. I do have to say I'm getting over that, though.

One thing that has been crossing my mind lately and that I have the intention of doing maybe someday is make a clip about all the bombs and explosions scenes from the show with the song "4 minutes to save the world".

But otherwise, finding songs to go with episodes, nah. Though getting over it, still not in favor.

This may sound corny but how about Lean On Me or Ain't No Mountain High Enough for the episodes with Jack, Pete, and Mac? Or Hero by Mariah Cary for Passages or When I Get to Where I'm Going by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton? When I Get to Where I'm Going mentions meeting Brad Paisley's grandfather and hugging him around the neck and matching him step for step. I just thought it fit Passages perfectly.

"Don't fear the reaper" when MacGyver and Pate first meets Murdoc.

"Send me and Angel" in The Widowmaker. After Mike falls to her death.

How about Evil Woman by ELO, Witchy Woman by The Eagles, and Gold Dust Woman by Fleetwood Mac for The Negotiator episode? If you've ever listened to the lyrics of those songs, I think they fit perfectly for our diabolical villainess.

How about Ride Like the Wind for Runners? Can't remember now who sang it... one of those late 70's/early 80's classics.

If Everyone Cared by Nickelback might be good in Bitter Harvest. The perfect song for it, though, would be the American labor classic Solidarity Forever. (In fact, I could imagine a whole soundtrack full of old labor protest songs in that eppy!)

Get On Your Feet by Gloria Estefan would be great for some of the Challengers eppys. Also, her song Coming Out Of The Dark might be good for the end of Widowmaker, or for Blow Out.

How about Born to be Wild by Steppenwolfe for Stinger?

How about Carry You Home from James Blunt for Passages. Especially phrases like 'Watching you breathing for the last time' would be fitting when they're giving him oxygen on the hospital bed.

As it appears to be a popular episode on this topic, for "The Negotiator" I think that "You Give Love A Bad Name" by Bon Jovi suits the episode quite well!

As I mentioned in another poll a week ago or something, the song "Pressure" by Billy Joel suits MacGyver in general. In fact, speaking of Billy Joel, a lot of his songs could suit MacGyver.
