which says at least what castin agency is working on filling the cast for the new MacGyver show as well as another push that it will be filmed in Oregon

The renowned finagler of trinkets, MacGyver, may be heading back to television. The unconventional problem solver will be recruited into a clandestine organization in the CBS revival pilot that’s set to shoot this March in what is slated to be Portland, Oregon. Elizabeth Barnes will solve the casting equation for the drama that has yet to put a face to the iconic name.

So they start without their star?

My guess is the cast will be decided on and anounced in the coming days. Also not all of the primary cast needs to be announced or casted before filming for example

Casino Royale started filming in November and Vesper and Le Chiffe weren't cast till December or january

plus we now have who is casting the pilot


this is actually huge news well sort of it gives us the location the person in charge of casting and a start date (sort of) for filming


My guess would be late March for filming between the 28th-31st
which would give Mrs Barnes plenty of time (2 weeks to be exact) to nail down the cast for MacGyver.


I mean this is HUGE news people the idea of MacGyver reboot is no longer in the midst of maybe anymore this is legitimately happening and with a casting director in place the Cast is going to be announced sooner rather then later!

OK, so here's my issue with this report.

How can it "May be heading back" but then be "slated to start filming this month"?

Which is it? It can't be both.

Technically it can as Young Macgyver went to pilot but after viewing the pilot WB passed on it and technically CBS can do the same. My hope though with Wan directing and a script by one of the NCIS writers and now casting by mrs Barnes (who has casted a few hit shows) that this will be aired and go for at least 5-6 seasons

Here's another problem....

With such pressure on to find casting, will we get the best person for the role or will we get a "he'll do because we're out of time"?

Already it feels like very little care is being taken on this project.

we don't know how long they have been casting this.


I do believe though MacGyver is CBS frontrunner for the fall (as every other network has their big spy TV show coming this fall as well)

so I believe as much care as possible is being taken here. CBS wants this to do well.

I think they mean if it gets green lighted past the pilot episode.

Also there is no concrete confirmation from CBS regarding the MacGyver project other than confirming they are rebooting it. Al these reports are just that. No actual confirmations from any of the CBS execs so they can only tell what they've been told. so to speak.

This is unfortunately the face of Hollywood nowadays. All projects get given a much shorter timeframe to develop. That way the business moves faster and brings out shows & movies quicker too. Each person has their designated job to fill to get the project done within a short period of time.

And they're suprised things flop.

I should note that I mostly enjoyed the A-Team movie, even though I'm not a fan of contemporary action movies, which it very much was. They were able to maintain the spirit of the show even though it was essentially a genre switch.

Yeah, that's the problem.... of course everyone involved in the show thinks its great. It's always difficult to judge from such statements...

Sifting through information on the net is quite difficult - first of all, there isn't much to find and second, I probably should have started earlier (without any news I didn't think they had already started shooting, and now that I'm finally looking for stuff they're already finished *lol*)

I do think it is kinda weird that Lucas Till doesn't have any of these crazy fans that stalk the sets and share everything online. I guess as a fan of young actors like Kristen Stewart or Robert Pattinson, I'm not used to this quiet form of film-making . Fans of George Eads have been complaining of the lack of information, though.


It does sound the clocked in some hours for this pilot and were under pressure.
