“Loyalty + Family + Rogue + Hellfire” – The Phoenix team is forever altered when MacGyver’s Aunt Gwen (Jeri Ryan) gets into his head about family and connection and convinces Mac and Riley to join Codex. Wait....Riley wants to be with Mac THAT much she'd............

If they do the mombo #5 I am done.

I think they are going undercover together to defeat Codex within. But for Aunt Gwen to buy it they're probably make it look like they betrayed Phoenix.

Sure, as a MacRiley shipper, one could theorize about Riley going after Mac to save him from Codex/his dark side and all that happily ever after romance...

But like luthien, think they're going undercover to defeat Codex within. And I'm guessing Desi doesn't know at first which will lead to some drama about trust issues. For auntie Gwen to believe Mac defected, he has to act like he broke all ties to the people he loves; therefore with Desi.

Though I'm guessing Riley will join later than Mac. Question is if Mac knew that she would follow (maybe going after them when he breaks out Scarlett) or if it was a long-planned con without the others knowing but them. Russ might suspect and play along.

Riley isn't helping Mac hoping that this might make him love her LOL Her scene with Bozer in the last episode was pretty clear IMO. She doesn't think she has a chance with Mac. She wants to give Mac and Desi the privacy they deserve. She wants them to be happy so she's gonna swallow her feelings.
Riley helps Mac bcoz she trusts him 100%. And they're always there for each other. Besides i think the last 2 episodes will foreshadow their scene in 4x4. When Mac told her that he imagines dying alone in every mission, she told him he's never alone. Time to prove it.

Btw- How awesome would it be if their plan was a long con that will be revealed through flashbacks in ep 13?

I like that reference to 4-4. I think it will be a struggle for Mac and Riley will help him subdue dark Mac. I saw a pic of Russ holding a gun on Mac and then a similar one but no gun. Geez is it Friday yet? Tho I think the end of 12 will just lead to more speculation until the end of this arc.

It's a bit of a pity they don't air a double-episode like they do for Magnum. On the other hand, we get another episode for next week until a hiatus that we don't even know yet how long it will be.

I’m hoping for season 5 any word?

No word on any CBS crime/drama shows yet. I guess they'll wait for as long as possible, until they can better plan and predict ahead when filming could start.

They might still be in contract negotiations and will probably do a mass renewal of all shows coming back. I think we should know within the next few weeks.

They also passed on the rookie project "The Lincoln Laywer" that had a straight-to-series-order already. I expect them to renew more shows than they usuall would. With 3 shows already cancelled/ended an probably no new shows this year, they need something to fill their schedules with. Therefore, shows not doing that well in ratings will have better chances than ever.

For MacGyver, the ratings are not bad. It would fit perfectly with the current Friday line-up. I think the main factor for MacGyver being renewed is not the ratings, but if they got a syndication deal or not.

'MacGyver' Boss Teases an 'Avengers-Like' Finale Showdown & Love Triangle

The clock is ticking for the Phoenix Foundation's heroes, because the baddies from Codex aim to set off a nuclear bomb! The blast could reset the Earth's climate problems…but kill millions of people in the process.

Unfortunately, two important members of the Phoenix team are missing from the action: operative Angus MacGyver (Lucas Till, above right, with Henry Ian Cusick) and computer expert Riley (Tristin Mays), who the gang believe have gone over to Codex. In truth, they're deep undercover.

"It's a little Avengers-like, where there are two sides pitted against each other," says MacGyver executive producer Peter Lenkov, setting up the Season 4 finale showdown.

But could being on the inside of nefarious Codex, where Mac's equally brainy aunt Gwen (Jeri Ryan) calls the shots, have seduced him for real? "He does get co-opted a bit. The science is sound to him," Lenkov explains. "But I don't think he believes in the way they're doing it." The exec also suggests that Mac may even see a not-so-villainous side to his aunt: "I'd like to believe there's more to her than just wanting to see the world burn."

On a lighter note, the crime drama flashes back to reveal how Mac got the name Angus and hints at what his future could hold. Amid complicated feelings for ex Desi (Levy Tran), he grows closer to Riley. "There's clearly a triangle building," teases Lenkov. Boom!
