Airdate: Apr. 13, 2018 Writers: Brian Durkin & Joshua Brown Director: Peter Weller Guest Cast:Edward Asner (Saul) , Piper Laurie (Edith) , Elisha Henig (Ethan Jericho) , Raphael Sbarge (Ralph Jericho) Kurt Yue (Pilot) , Dango Nu Yen (Driver) , Felix Alonzo (Perez)
Mac and Jack attempt to rescue a billionaire’s son after he is kidnapped by a former Navy SEAL who uses an EMP weapon to cut off power and communication lines to the Shanghai skyscraper where the boy lives.
There might be adjustments because of Trump's speech. "Hawaii Five-0" will be preempted (they started 10 minutes late), but I'm not sure if (and how) this affects MacGyver as well or not. Some peeps on Twitter mentioned they didn't get to see the show due to tornado warnings and other news interrupting the scheduled programme.
The numbers are not overwhelming, but they are pretty stable overall and dropping similarly like the ones for H50 and Blue Bloods as we're nearing Summer.

Loved the entire episode. The kids was pretty good too although a bit mouthy. Really liked the Die Hard remarks, especially since Mac went along with them. Would like to see more of Rilley in action. Episodes seem to be getting better and better. I pray this gets renewed. Please say it will?

I'm about half way done with this episode. I'll try to finish the this one and the previous one today after work.
Anyone catch the Ralph Jericho easter egg? Throw back to Ralph Jerico from Jerico Games. lol Nice....
"Walk in love. Walk in service. And you will walk in honor." (Good Knight MacGyver) "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow." - Albert Einstein "What are ferrets made of? Happiness."
As usuall, almost every show lost a bit in viewers - the Reboot as well, but it kept the 0.8 demo-rating.
Along with Episode 2x02, this is the episode with the lowest viewer-numbers (both had 6.38 million live-viewers).
I'm assuming the numbers might drop a bit more towards the Season Finale since this usually happens when the weather gets warmer. The three last episodes of Season 1 had been the three episodes with the lowest viewer-numbers. Nevertheless, the show is on the same ratings-level as when the Season started and pretty stable, which is something that CBS will appreciate and could have an effect on the budget for next Season (networks don't like to pump money into a project that is "unpredictable").
Generally, all CBS Friday shows are very consistent in ratings, so I'm assuming that they will leave the "Trifecta" for Friday untouched (if all shows are renewed for another season).

I finally watched this episode, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I think the only thing I didn't enjoy about this one was Mattie. I really wish they'd either make her a bit more likable, or not include her in every episode. Listening to her constantly yelling things like "You guys better not screw this up!" "I need results NOW!", etc, gets really irritating, especially since she hardly ever contributes anything to the mission herself.
But aside from that, I thought this was a well-paced, fun episode, with plenty of action and the right amount of humor, and I appreciated how it tied back to an earlier episode with the EMP device.

I just realized via IMDb, that Ed Asner (the elder guy they hijack the plane from) - is also the voice for Carl Fredrickson in UP, which the Opening Gambit with the balloons on the trampoline from Episode 2x19 got its idea from.
Wonder if they switched Opening Gambits around. Would have been cool to have them both in 2x20 as a special Easter Egg; especially since the Opening Gambits are usually not really tied to the episodes.

This was a nice episode and even the kind of episode why I like the reboot in the first place or most of all: the references to Die Hard and other 80's stuff like Chucky or as in the beginning of the show Iron Maiden. They like the stuff, I like.
The couple on the plane was great too. I know Piper Laurie (Carrie, The Faculty), the other guy not so much but check out his impressive filmography. 384 projects with another 15 projects in the works and this guy will celebrate his 89th birthday next week.
I didn't like the rich spoiled brat at first. If I was a dangling with that kid in an elevator shaft and he wouldn't shut up, I would just tell him that I'd cut him loose if he don't shut up. Again one of those moments Mac should be a lot more assertive.
The Ralph Jerico easter egg was nice. It had been a while since we had a new name from the original in the reboot.

I did had the impression she was calming down a bit in the past few episodes but I didn't like her text message to Mac, nor the look she gave Riley for what happened last time with the EMP. Clearly she forgot what Riley went through when Phoenix was under attack.
But you're right about her. How can they do their job if you hear her voice screech in their ears? They should really stand up to her to clear the air. She's got the best agents in the field without even knowing.
I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver. Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you. It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.
