Ok, so I finally got to see the two MacGyver movies ... even if it's meant staying up till 2.00 in the morning to watch them on youtube! LOL Thank you so much to the person who did that by the way - I would never have seen them otherwise sad.gif
And I have to say, they didn't disappoint wink.gif Full of cheesy 80s MacGyver moments that we fans just LOVE! Heh heh smile.gif

You didn't find them too far estranged from the TV series?

I found them really hard to watch, especially the Trail to Doomsday one.

Both movie concepts has been in the series before: Mac on adventure, Mac doing an investigation on his own... of course there could've been a lot more to it.

I'm not talking about the concepts. I talking about the final product.

They were both way off IMO, but TTDD was just SO far devoid of anything MacGyver I had to force myself to keep watching it and didn't enjoy it one little bit sad.gif

My issue with the movies: Ok I like dark twists and turns at various points if the help the story and sometimes a dark middle story plot is great aka The Empire Strikes Back. But its MacGyver---give us Mac in his element with Pete, Nikki, Jack, Sam, Penny, Murdoc, maybe the Coltons and Kate Murphy--the Phoenix Foundation and create some likeable characters--Fanfic is wonderful.

I can watch TTD, but it's still not the same as watching the Mac that we enjoy watching.

Hey at least they didn't turn out as bad as KR2000. That was terrible. I definitely don't like them as much as the series. He didn't do as many macgyerisms as in the series and he seemed out of character.

Now technically I'm driving a stolen car following a kidnapping... and I didn't even get to have my first cup of coffee. (Mac)
Your burning hot MacGyver... And so is Pete! ! (Murdoc)
Does anyone have a knife?? Yes...it has lots of different blades (Macgyver music plays while mac examines the knief) ...I know
Why are you taking your pants off?? You got a better idea? I'm still trying to figure out what yours is!!

I think they're referring to Knight Rider 2000, an updated movie based on that '80s series.

The movies were such disappointments. I haven't seen them since they first aired, but I remember at the time feeling really let down. It felt more like I was watching just some generic TV movie starring RDA, rather than an actual Mac movie.
I'd like to see them again, to give them another shot, but I'm not about to buy the boxed set just for two movies that I didn't particularly enjoy the first time around. And I have a dial-up internet connection, so watching them on YouTube is out of the question. Oh well.
