Alright, everybody get ready for chapter 9. So MacGyver and Murdoc both went up in space. Now it's time to find out how MacGyver and Murdoc are going to fight out for the last time. Who will win? What will happen out there? I hope you enjoy this dark ninth chapter.
You might recognise some parts from movies like Aliens, The Abyss and Independence Day. Remember this is just for fun.
(We fade in with a view on the spacecraft, while we hear the track Hello Ladies of Judgment Night)
Chapter IX
MacGyver in Space
Hyperspace
Lunar Activities
The Return of the VisitorThe spacecraft floated now through space at light speed. Still it seemed to go a little slow if you take a look from the outside. The pressure seemed to have taken off. The whole room if not the whole ship was at the usual pressure now. MacGyver took a look around. He was still in the cargo hold. A hold almost five floors high, so the craft must be gigantic. A big gigantic black square floating in space. MacGyver crawled over a box. Then he waited for a few seconds, something wasn’t right here.
‘Something’s not right here,’ he said.
‘You better believe it!’ Murdoc said from above him. (The music grows tense)
MacGyver turned around and saw Murdoc standing on the third floor with his handgun.
‘Oh, crap!’ MacGyver screamed and then Murdoc fired his gun.
MacGyver ran away out of the cargo hold while Murdoc kept firing his gun. Some of the bullets ricocheted around before they hit into something. It caused a lot of sparkling around and behind him. MacGyver vanished out of the cargo hold and started to run around the ship in search of a hiding place. Murdoc followed him around. By going down a metal stair case, he went after MacGyver. MacGyver tried doors, hatches, whatever could help him to get away, even if it’s just temporary. (The track Stalk and Talk from Judgment Night comes up here)
Murdoc plugged his own ear phone in and connected it with the ship’s intercom.
‘MacGyver, here I am. I know you can hear me. Why don’t you come and get me?’
‘Because I don’t feel like getting you now,’ MacGyver mumbled.
‘If you don’t come after me, I’ll come after you.’
‘Whatever.’
‘There’s no way of escape this time, MacGyver! It’s just you and me, now.’
‘Interesting,’ MacGyver mumbled again while he started chewing on a piece of chocolate. He ate the whole bar of chocolate.
‘MacGyver, where are you? I’m here but where are you?’ Murdoc taunted him and laughed. ‘There’s nothing you can do. Except dying that is. Come on, MacGyver, die along with me. I’ll be dead too, isn’t that what you want? Of course you’ll die too this time. Only then we can stop playing this tiresome game. No more cat and mouse games. You’ll be dead and I’ll be dead. Than we’re both happy. The game will end in a draw.’
‘Not on your life, buster.’
MacGyver kept walking down the hall trying doors and hatches. No matter where he looked it’s like they always seemed to lead to nowhere.
Murdoc was not far behind. Out of sight but not far away.
‘Come on, let’s finish this right now. Don’t you want to finish it? So our plan failed, still we had you real good, didn’t we? Tell me, how did it feel to be syringed flat and having that helmet thing on your head? It must’ve hurt, didn’t it?’
MacGyver remembered the pain all too well.
‘What about those goggles, that made your eyes bleed? Don’t you think blood is an interesting liquid? Don’t you just love the red colour?’
‘Bloody eyes?’ MacGyver whispered, he got an idea.
MacGyver ran up the metal stair case to the first floor. He started to search around. ‘There must be a little kitchenette around here.’
He searched all the floors and on the fifth floor, he found a kitchen. Then he heard Murdoc’s voice again going through the ship.
‘MacGyver!! Don’t think whatever you to do will work, because it won’t. You’re at my mercy now!!’
‘I’m shaking, Murdoc.’
MacGyver tried to figure something out in the kitchen. He opened up one of the cupboards.
‘Cooking alcohol? Ninety-six percent of it?’
He unscrewed the cap of and smelled it.
‘Wow!’
Then he saw something else.
‘Vinegar?’
That sounded a lot better.
‘What else do we got here?’
Time was running out and Murdoc was getting closer.
‘MacGyver, where are you? What’s the matter, MacGyver? Can’t you find your mommy?’ Murdoc laughed. He remembered the last time he said that. ‘Oh, wait! Now I know where you are. You’re in the kitchen aren’t you? Always mixing stuff to see what happens.’
MacGyver didn’t pay any attention anymore to what Murdoc was saying. He was busy trying to make something that could help him take out Murdoc.
He had now vinegar, pepper and some sparkling soda. Now he needed something to pour it in. His eye fell on the kitchen sink.
‘Dish washing gloves? Hmm.’
He took one of the two and his Swiss Army Knife. He cut of a small piece of the glove, but he didn’t touch the fingers of it. Then he cut to small piece in half so that he would have a string. He poured the vinegar, soda and pepper in it about three quarters up. He tied to glove shut with the string and shook it as hard as he could. The glove started to swell up. He placed the glove on the table in the middle of the kitchen. Now he needed something to make it pop. In one of the drawers he found toothpicks.
‘Toothpicks, eh?’
With an elastic band he tied six of them together. The only thing he needed now was a blowgun. He needed reed or something like that.
‘MacGyver, I’m coming!’ Murdoc’s voice echoed again.
Maybe there was something in the garbage can, he could use. He bended through his knees to search it.
‘A straw and an old paper?’
The hole in the straw seemed to small for the six toothpicks to fit in but with the paper he could make a blowgun. He covered the glove up with the table cloth. With the paper and the toothpicks he climbed up the cupboard next to door. It seemed like a silly hiding place but a high hide seemed original.
‘Ready or not, here I come!!’ Murdoc said.
(The music fades away here for a moment)
Murdoc entered the kitchen silently. He noticed the table cloth with the glove underneath it. MacGyver bended through his knees on the cupboard with his blowgun ready. Murdoc unfolded the table cloth and took a look at the glove. He slowly picked up. On the moment he sensed somebody was behind him, it was already too late. (The music grows more tense here) MacGyver blew the toothpicks out of the paper-made blowgun. The toothpicks hit their target and the liquid inside the glove sprayed out all over Murdoc’s face. Murdoc screamed and MacGyver jumped on top of him. He swung his right fist in his face. Murdoc placed his hands over his eyes. MacGyver took the gun away from Murdoc. (The music fades away here)
‘Alright, Murdoc. It’s over this time.’
‘Yeah, right.’
‘You’re weapon-less, now. You got nowhere to go. Axminster and Piedra are dead. Zito and Deborah are captured. Nikki and Maria are saved now and I’ve got you. All I want now, is to go back to Earth.’
‘One word, MacGyver: Never,’ Murdoc said rubbing in his eyes. He took the table cloth to wipe off his face and to keep it against his eyes.
‘Really?’
‘Yeah, really. No matter how hard you try, you’ll never win this.’
‘How come?’
‘You’re still at my terrain. I still do whatever the hell I want.’
‘You make it sound like a standoff but I’ve got the gun.’
‘That may be so, but still I won’t bring you back. You just stay here with me.’
Murdoc tried to see again, it worked only barely. He kept rubbing his eyes. They turned completely red.
‘I’m going back and like or not but you’re going to help me. You owe me!!’
‘I don’t owe you nothing.’
‘You probably forgot I rescued your sister Ashton from H.I.T.?’
‘That was then. Things are different now.’
‘You should’ve stayed retired.’
‘Actually, I still am. I’m not working for them now, but for myself. I want to do this because I like it.’
Murdoc rubbed out his eyes one more time with the cloth as slowly his vision came back.
‘Honestly, MacGyver, do you ever see me play gulf? Do you ever see me fishing? I do not think so. I’m a killer, MacGyver, like you are a trouble shooter.’
MacGyver thought of what Murdoc said while Murdoc slowly put the cloth down.
‘I only am what I am and there’s nothing that can change that.’
MacGyver nodded as if he got the message. Murdoc was unchangeable.
‘We’re going back to Earth, Murdoc and I’m going to turn you in. They have to lock you up the way they locked up Zito. In a highly secured penitentiary.’
Murdoc smirked.
‘I’d rather die, MacGyver.’
‘Maybe. I’m going to look for the cockpit and I will get us back.’
MacGyver said and started to walk towards the kitchen door.
‘The hell you will.’
(The track Final Fight from Judgment Night bangs in here)
MacGyver turned around just in time to grab a hold of Murdoc’s arm who held his knife. Murdoc tried to stab him down.
‘You know, the knife-thing is getting very annoying. Can’t you be more original?’ MacGyver taunted Murdoc.
MacGyver’s fist went against Murdoc’s nose again.
‘My nose, damn it!!’ Murdoc swore.
He hit MacGyver back and pushed him against the wall in the hallway. They started to struggle to get free. MacGyver broke Murdoc’s hold on him and swung his fist again in his face. Murdoc tried to attack MacGyver again. MacGyver raised his big leg and kicked him against the chest. Both men grabbed each others neck and they started to bang against the walls. MacGyver got his arm wrapped around Murdoc’s head and hit him with left hands. Murdoc got himself loose and hit MacGyver again. MacGyver hit him back with a left-right hand combination. Murdoc tackled him against the side of the fifth floor, high above the cargo hold. MacGyver kneed him in his stomach. Murdoc tried to push him of the fifth floor.
‘If you push me down, I’ll pull ya with me,’ MacGyver threatened.
MacGyver pushed Murdoc off of him. Murdoc tried to hit him again. MacGyver blocked the punch and hit Murdoc with another right hook. Afterwards he jumped on Murdoc’s back. Murdoc tried to get him off. They came again by the metal stair case. Murdoc pulled MacGyver off his back. He landed on his back on the stairs and rolled further down. That really hurt. Murdoc descended the stairs. MacGyver got up with pain as he was willing to hit Murdoc again. Murdoc ducked and hit MacGyver instead.
MacGyver hit Murdoc back. Murdoc head butted MacGyver and kicked him. MacGyver fell backwards of the next metal stair case that led to the third floor.
‘Aw, man!’
The pain was twice as bad than before. MacGyver decided to take a run for it and ran back to the first floor. Murdoc was after him.
‘Don’t try to run, MacGyver!! I told you there is no escape.’
Murdoc went down the stairs. When he was also on the first floor, MacGyver was out of sight. He walked and looked around cautiously.
Then MacGyver appeared from around a corner and jumped on Murdoc again. When he jumped on Murdoc it was like both men lost their control over each other and they both tumbled over the side. They screamed as they fell from the first floor into the cargo hold.
‘AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’
They landed on boxes which broke.
A little stunned MacGyver got up as did Murdoc. Murdoc was holding a board from the box now, just like MacGyver did in the hangar. MacGyver was still standing a little weak on his legs when he saw the board coming towards his head. He grabbed the board with his hands and a pull game started between the two men. MacGyver yanked the board out of Murdoc’s hands and hit him with it. With the right and left edges against the face. He also hit him in the chest with it. Murdoc came towards MacGyver again and he hit him with that board against his head. Murdoc went down and MacGyver kicked him angrily in the face. Murdoc stayed down motionless. (The music comes to an end here) MacGyver figured to he had to get out of there. He was getting tired. Tired of what all he had been through this day, tired of fighting Murdoc. All he wants now is to go home. He had to find the cockpit and turn the craft around back to earth. He searched all the floors to find the cockpit. There just had to be one somewhere.
During his search, he noticed a strange door on the third floor. In was build in against the wall and said “exit”. If this was true, this was the actual entrance door of the spacecraft and behind it, there should be nothing else but empty space. There was no door knob but a button on the wall next to it. Maybe this could work.
‘MacGyver!!!’ Murdoc screamed. ‘I’m really going to kill you this time!! No more games!! No fancy tricks, no nothing. Just pure strictly business. Where are you?’
If MacGyver wanted his plan to work, he had to lure him out.
‘I’m out here, you miserable dumb son of an offspring!!’ MacGyver yelled back from the third floor up.
‘There you are!’
‘Come and get me, Murdoc.’
‘Oh, you got it, pal!’
Murdoc ran up to the third floor where MacGyver was waiting for him at the door.
‘What are you going to Murdoc? How will you kill me?’
‘You know, MacGyver. I’ve thought about that. Over the years I noticed, none of my plans worked. I hunted you down with a flamethrower once, it resulted in my fall of the Widowmaker. I locked you and Pete up in the back of a truck with several pounds of dynamite around you. It ended of myself being blown up. I used Penny Parker to get to you and you electrocuted me.’
‘And each time you manage to survive. How do you that?’
‘Like you. I consider myself as your darker self.’
‘Creepy.’
‘But to answer on your question of how I’m going to kill you, is very simple,’ Murdoc said and took out a six shooter revolver from his ankle holster.
MacGyver seemed a little disappointed.
‘Oh, come on, Murdoc. After all this, you’re not just going to shoot me, are you?’
‘Well, MacGyver, I know it’s not being very creative. But it gets the job done.’
‘Didn’t that sound familiar?’
Both men nodded to each other. Murdoc pulled the trigger.
‘Goodbye, MacGyver.’
Then the gunshot followed. He shot MacGyver right in his arm.
MacGyver collapsed on the ground, holding his hand around his arm. When he tried to get up, Murdoc shot him again in his kneecap. Blood spilled out all over the wall.
MacGyver screamed this time. Murdoc was coming closer, ready to finish him off. He would not waste any time on doing the job. Murdoc stood now over MacGyver, pulling the trigger one more time. They shared one more look and then…
‘Murdoc?’
‘What?’
‘You just waited one second too long!’ (The track Bishop's Countdown from Aliens comes up here)
MacGyver reached out for the button with his long arm and pushed it. The door slid open and an incredible suction power went through the spacecraft. Everything that was standing loose got sucked out.
MacGyver and Murdoc were trying to hold themselves at the grate floor. Both of them were loosing their grips on the floor. They got sucked out as well but they tried to stay in the craft. The suction got stronger and stronger. They were trying to hold tight at the edges of the door. MacGyver tried to climb back in, but also Murdoc tried to climb back in. MacGyver placed his elbow back inside and tried to push himself back in.
Murdoc wasn’t so lucky but also he tried to hold himself. He almost got sucked out but grabbed MacGyver’s leg on the last minute. He used MacGyver to climb back. Murdoc was halfway the climb and he grabbed MacGyver’s left arm causing MacGyver almost to fall out. MacGyver had to grab to edges of the door again.
‘You’re the one who’s going, MacGyver.’
‘Oh, yeah?’
MacGyver hit Murdoc with his left elbow in the nose again. Murdoc lost his grip. He tried to grab MacGyver’s foot but it was too late for him. MacGyver was swinging his legs and somewhat by accident, he also hit Murdoc with his left foot in his face.
‘MACGYVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’
Murdoc vanished in space and MacGyver tried to climb his way back in the craft. The suction had an immensely power. MacGyver really had to give everything to get back in. The pain in his arm was enormous also in his kneecap. But he wasn’t ready to die yet. Not like this. With small grabs he crawled back in the spacecraft and hit the button again to close the door down. He was back in and when the door shut down the suction stopped. He took a few deep breaths and thought for moment. (The music softens here and then fades away silently) So the bad guys are dead, except for Zito and Deborah. Maria and Nikki were safe again. Jack and Pete were safe too. Now the only problem was: how’d he get back to earth?
First of all, he had to look for a first aid kit for his wounds. There must be an infirmary around here. He used to wall to get back up. Normal walking was out of the question now. It became heavy limping. His kneecap was destroyed.
He found the infirmary on the fourth floor and did what he could to tend his wounds. The bullet in his arm went out on the other side, but his knee was another pair of sleeves. That one didn’t got out. (The track Predator's Surgery from Predator comes up here) He tore the knee part of his pants open and he looked in the bullet hole, maybe he could see the bullet. It was burning. There was nothing to be seen. He tried to force his index finger and his thumb in the wound.
MacGyver pressed his fingers through the wound until halfway his fingers. He started sweating and tried to control himself. He gasped several times when he slowly perished his fingers, deeper and deeper into the wound. He could feel his insides of his leg, he even touched his own bones. Blood gushed out. A big puddle of blood got on the floor. Then he felt something that didn’t belong there. He had the bullet.
‘One! Two!! Three!!!’ (The music grows more tense and tragic here)
In one yank, he pulled the bullet out of his leg. The pain was excruciate and he screamed his lungs out. He threw the bullet away, kicked a chair away with his good leg. With his arms he knocked the first aid kit of the table. He angrily got up and threw the table over. He grabbed the chair he was sitting on and smashed it three times on the table, then he threw the chair as hard as he could against the wall. The back leaning and one chair paw broke off. Another paw was bended over.
MacGyver then collapsed on the ground with tears in his eyes of pain. He tried to regain his breath before taking the disinfecting alcohol bottle.
‘To hell with this,’ he said and emptied the bottle on the wound.
He hissed of pain, then also there he bandaged it in. Still he needed to go to the hospital if he wanted to be fully recovered. ‘And that’s that!’ (The music fades away here)
So that’s that. He took care of his wounds and than limped his way up to the cockpit.
In front of him was big front window looking out at space. MacGyver sat down and looked at the scenery outside.
Billions and billions stars passed by him. He was probably flying through hyperspace now.
‘Wow!’ he exclaimed.
He looked at the dashboard of the ship, studying all the instruments. This was way different than the controls of a plane. Although some were alike.
MacGyver took the rudder of the craft. He tried to make the craft turn left and right.
‘Stuck!’
A few moments passed while he was thinking. He started messing with the controls, touching buttons and levers. He flicked one of the knots on.
A red plinking light above it suddenly turned green. Than the sound of the starting cassette player. It started playing. (Now we hear the music of Lesson in Evil where in Zito explains evil is never predictable)
‘Greetings from outer space, MacGyver!’
‘Murdoc.’
‘As you see, MacGyver, I’m prepared on everything. I knew that if you killed me on this craft, you would do everything to go back to earth. Unfortunately for you, I rigged the controls. You’re going through hyperspace now, straight towards the sun. You should be able to see within a few minutes. Can you feel the temperature rising?’ MacGyver didn’t noticed it before but the temperature was indeed rising fast.
'I told you, there would be no escape this time. Within ten minutes you will be consumed by a yellow fireball known as the sun. Goodbye, MacGyver and I’ll see you in hell.’ (The music stops here)
‘Aw man! Ten minutes eh?’
Murdoc said indeed ten minutes. So MacGyver had ten minutes to figure a way to escape. In the distance, he saw a yellow light coming closer. It was dangerous to look straight to the sun from down the earth and it was actually even more dangerous to look at from this close. There was no time to lose. MacGyver had to get away.
He limped with his shot up knee back to the cargo hold. Maybe there was an evacuation craft. That’s what he hoped so. He searched all the areas below in order to find one. Luckily for him he found one, but what were the odds that he found one. It doesn’t matter actually, he found one and maybe he was finally home free now. The evacuation craft he found was at the bow on the back of the craft. Before entering the door that led to the craft, he saw an astronauts suit hanging besides it. ‘I can use these.’ (Adventureous music comes up here)
Painfully he got in the suit and then entered the evacuation craft. Meanwhile temperature rose again with several degrees. The craft was coming very close to the sun now.
MacGyver was sitting now in the evacuation craft. He hardly had any time to learn out all the controls. The only thing he had in mind was getting the craft moving out of there. He saw the same things in there as in the cockpit.
‘Buttons, knots, levers, lights.’
Also here MacGyver touched everything he could. He figured that in the end the craft will jump on or something and it did. MacGyver took the steering wheel and pressed with his foot on the gas pedal. Then at an incredibly speed MacGyver and the small craft got launched out of the ship. It was like MacGyver got catapulted into space. Behind him the craft got consumed by the sun. It melted completely.
MacGyver was now flying through space in a small spacecraft with only one goal: getting the hell back to earth. (The music changes here into The Complex of the Aliens score)
A few hours passed while he kept flying. He had actually no idea how he was going. Was he going the right way or not? First he was going towards the sun, now he was flying away of it. So that was good. That was the right way for him to go.
More hours passed then he noticed something in the distance. A big bubble was to be seen. Was that the Earth, or was it something else? MacGyver wanted to speed things up, he was curious. Then another problem occurred. The engine of the craft stopped.
‘No, no, no, no. No!!! No!!!’
MacGyver hit the dashboard with his fist. Then he heard a familiar sound, he heard the beginning of cassette player.
‘Well, well, MacGyver. You never give up, do you?’‘Murdoc!!!’ MacGyver screamed.
‘Good news for you than. Neither do I. I knew you would get this far. That’s why I rigged this craft as well. You can get it in, but you can’t get out. First I wanted to give you a little false hope. Because wherever you go or do anything to escape it’ll backfire.’MacGyver took off the helmet and let his head rest against his left hand. He rubbed over his face, trying to keep it together. Was he losing all of his hopes? After all he’d been through? Or was there really no escape this time?
‘So, MacGyver, now that you’re trapped inside a capsule, what do you do? Are you just going to wait there till you starve to death or something?’‘If I have to, yes. I can always mess with the machinery to send down a distress call. So many possibilities to escape.’
MacGyver knew how it sounded. He didn’t believe it himself anymore.
‘Lucky for you, I placed a bomb somewhere, so we can speed things up. Because waiting until you die, can take a very long time and can be rather boring, don’t you think? Alright, MacGyver. This time it’ll take only three minutes.’ Something bleeped. MacGyver’s eyes darted around to see where it came from.
‘If you escape out of this one, I’m sure I can never kill you. But I doubt it. I’ll always keep trying. Goodbye, MacGyver.’ (The music becomes more tense)
MacGyver tried to search the small space in order to find the bomb. He could hear it bleep each time a second ticked away. There wasn’t much room to move and his knee hurt like hell.
With the little room he had he tried to lay down on the ground and looked under his chair. The craft he was wasn’t any bigger than an F-16 plane. Only in F-16’s you can’t lay down. There was no bomb under his chair. But there was a bomb underneath the control panel. There was one, no doubt and it was counting with only one minute and thirty-five seconds left.
MacGyver studied the design. It seemed like a small but powerful bomb. There were the necessary wires in their colours and the counter of course in red numbers. He was thinking and didn’t had any time too lose.
Almost twenty seconds passed when MacGyver touched the red wire. It’s always the red wire. MacGyver reached for his pocket knife

in his astronauts suit. He cut through the red wire. The timer stopped counting. He thought he could breath again, but then the counter started again from one minute. There was shock to be read of his face. Maybe it was the blue one then. (The music becomes and more and more tense)
He couldn’t risk it, he had to get out of there, right now. He crawled from underneath the control panel and putted his helmet back on in. He tried the door but Murdoc said on the tape that he could get in but not get out. His brains was working at full speed now.
‘The ejection chair!!’
A very risky escape attempt. He would be ejected out of the craft much higher into space.
‘Extreme circumstances demands for extreme measures.’
He sat on the chair and tried to pull the handle below him. There just appeared to be another problem. It didn’t work.
‘Oh, no! Sh*t!! No!!!’
He tried to pull harder but it was stuck. Time was really running out now, with less then twenty seconds left.
‘God, no!!’
He started panicking. He got off the chair to take a look what was wrong. In his hurry, he gave it a big yank, he pulled the handle off.
A moment of confusion when he looked at the handle, then he threw himself on the chair, a fraction of a second later and the chair flew up with an incredible power. (Now we hear the part of the music where MacGyver shoots up the rope up in the volcano from Lost Treasure of Atlantis) The glass roof burst in millions of pieces, when he hit his back against it and was sent several feet up in space. Then the explosion came. BANG!!! BOOM!!! MacGyver saw the yellow ball of fire extend and an ear deafening bang. (The music changes back into The Complex track)
He was out of the craft now but still he wasn’t safe yet. Now he was out there hovering around in our infinite universe with no solid surface in sight. It was one big empty hole. Maybe it was inevitable this time. Did Murdoc really win? If he stayed in the craft, he’d probably be dead by now. Than he would better off, than float around in space. After all the things he’s been through in his life, all the assignments, this one was the tightest spot he’s ever been into.
He looked around in space. It was weird to be floating around like that in emptiness. It was like as if he’s been eating and that he was in a stomach of a big animal. The universe was magnificent to look at. It didn’t had no ceiling, no walls, no floor. It was empty, silent. Maybe not completely silent but big parts of the universe were.
MacGyver let himself go along with the flow of the solar winds. What’s the use, he figured. He just prolonged the inevitable, his death. But how long would that take? If his injured knee isn’t being treated soon the wound might get infected and infection meant amputation. He’d rather die than to live with amputated leg.
It didn’t look good for him. He was alone, scared and all he wanted was to go home. But the way things are now, it seemed like it was never going to happen. It looked like they finally succeeded. They killed MacGyver. The way they planned their strategy was well done. Kidnap the ones he loves, lure him to them. They know he would go after them, especially after Murdoc. Murdoc lures him deeper into the jungle to a deserted cocoa plantation with a getaway spacecraft. He goes aboard, exactly what Murdoc wanted. They fought, he gets injured badly, Murdoc dies. He rigged both spacecrafts and MacGyver ends up in nothingness. In case he escapes, he’ll just die in the long run. He wondered that if he dies, the angels would be waiting for him or in this case, aliens. E.T. maybe?
The battle was fought, the war was over. He may have lost a battle, he sure won the war.
But at what cost? His own life. Still he rescued two lives and it was worth it.
Even though he won the war, he didn’t feel like a winner. The loss of the fight weighed heavily on his shoulders. He really lost or didn’t he?
(Slowly the track changes into 1969-We came in Peace from Independence Day)
Maybe there was still a slightest chance of hope. Something caught his eyes. It was a big white ball in front of him. He tried to hover that way to where the white ball was. He could’ve sworn he saw it before. The ball seemed made of sand that gave away a white bright light. MacGyver landed on top of it. The sight he looked at was remarkable. He looked around. There were craters in the surface. In the distance he saw a small pole sticking on the surface. He began to get this crazy idea of where he was. He slowly stepped towards the pole. There was piece of cloth hanging to it.
‘The American Flag?’
At the bottom of the pole there was a small plaque wedged against it.
MacGyver bended through his knees and it hurt his bad knee inferior. Then the words echoed through his mind when he read the plaque. It were Neill Armstrong’s words.
‘For those who haven’t read plaque, we’ll read the plaque. Here, men from the planet Earth, first set foot upon the moon. July 1969. We came in peace for all mankind.’MacGyver realised where he was. He was on the moon.
‘I’m on the moon?’
If this was the moon, earth had to be nearby. (The music changes into the Lost Treasure of Atlantis theme) He turned around and what he saw was the most beautiful thing he ever saw. He saw the planet earth from on the moon, just like they showed it during the moon landing in 1969. The view was astonishing. At one side, the right one, the Earth was covered in darkness and there appeared to be a storm in Asia. The left side of the planet was more enlightened. So it was still daytime in America.
MacGyver’s hope began to come back, maybe there was still a way to get home. If he could send a distress signal from the moon to the earth or via the satellites. There’s always someone looking out for outer space activity.
There was a lot of scientific garbage on the moon, also from Apollo 11. MacGyver walked around the moon surface, carefully not to step in Armstrong’s footsteps. He found a seismograph. It was an old device but maybe with some antennae he could make it work. The antennae on it was broken partially, but maybe he could fix it enough to send a message. He bended the antennae back straight as much as he could and started messing with the controls. (The music becomes more tense again) While trying to get the thing working, he began to feel nauseas. His injured knee was bleeding badly. A big red stain was seen on his white suit. He was bleeding through it. He felt light in his head and started to lose focus. He couldn’t give up now. If there was way to get home, he should try it, but the damn thing wouldn’t work.
He started sweating and dizziness came up. His head hurt and his knee too. He couldn’t hold up much longer and he collapsed on the soft moon surface. Did it finally started? Was he dying now? The knee was blown to bits and the burning sensation was very intense. He kept his hand on his knee and started breathing heavy. It was so painful, tears in his eyes. This was the end, right? Perhaps, but not quite yet.
(Now gently the track Bud on the Ledge from The Abyss comes up)
The stars were beautiful. Light giving dots against a black invisible wall. They were everywhere. There was this one star, that attracted the attention of the only person in the universe. The star was small at first and didn’t look any different then the others. The more MacGyver looked at it, the bigger it became. The star became bigger and bigger. Also the light became more brighter. Out of the light something came towards him. An eye blinding white flash followed and the light of the star faded. From out of the fading light some sort of ship appeared with a bluish-white glow around it. It wasn’t a particular big ship. For as far MacGyver was still conscious, he seemed to know that ship. His condition just worsened that past hour and felt his death coming closer. But that didn’t seem to bother him anymore, he was fascinated by the ship. Maybe he was death already and just saw strange things on his way to heaven. He never really believed in aliens or UFO’s. Except one time, not so long ago, he had to reconsider his opinion.
The ship came closer to him and landed on the moon. The entrance door opened. Inside the ship there was a white light. He kept looking at the light. Was there something in there? He was interested in it but the unconsciousness was starting to get the better of him. Still he kept fighting against it. Then he saw something, he thought it never existed.
A scrawny white body appeared in the door. It was very skinny and not very tall, a big head and big black eyes.
MacGyver was looking at an alien. An extra-terrestrial.
The terrestrial itself seemed curious and not hostile. This became clear when he reached out for MacGyver’s hand.
MacGyver didn’t feel the need to struggle against it. First of all, he felt to weak for it and second of all, it didn’t seem necessary.
Gently he picked up MacGyver. MacGyver tried to stand while the alien looked up at him. Each step he set, he went through his bad knee and collapsed again. The alien took a look at it and for a moment there, his curious look made place for a sad look. He showed MacGyver his own hand with long fingers and waved it from left to right in front of his eyes. Then he placed his hand on the knee. MacGyver shivered for a moment, startled from the touch. The alien closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Seconds passed and the alien took his hand away. MacGyver didn’t feel anything anymore. The pain was gone. He wondered what the alien did to him. The pain in his knee was gone and he slowly began to came back to his senses. The alien led him to the ship. It was a very small ship, with blue and white light and white smoke over the floor. MacGyver was brought to some sort of infirmary. There was a bench of some sort where he could lay down and rest. The alien left for the cockpit to leave again with the ship. In a flash he was gone again from the moon going to his next destination.
MacGyver was wondering where he was taking him, when being conscious got difficult again. They were travelling at an incredible light speed. The journey seemed to last forever. The ship landed back on the planet covered in darkness. MacGyver was been taken of the ship and put down on a sandy ground in what seemed to be a desert by night. The alien looked at him from the entrance of the ship and raised his hand as if he was saying goodbye and be safe. Then he went in the ship again ready to leave. (The music from the last scene of The Visitor comes up here)
MacGyver couldn’t do anything else but looking, he was unable to speak from the sights.
The ship slowly began to hover upwards. It hovered for a moment in midair and then whoosh at the same light speed he disappeared back in space.
‘You gotta wonder,’ MacGyver mumbled and then he lost consciousness.
(The music reaches it's peak as we fade out here)
I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver.
Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you.
