| QUOTE (Rockatteer @ Dec 29 2006, 08:51 AM) | | Probably not.. I recall reading or hearing that she doesn't have anything good to say about RDA. |
You see? Told you she sucked! Didn't like her from the beginning!
To me -honestly- I don't think she's pretty! A pretty face you say? I'd much rather look at Jessica Alba for instance. To me Teri is just as ugly as e.g. Paris Hilton. From the outside as well on the inside. I mean, take a good look at her face; it looks like she's hit the wall at full speed! Besides, she really looks anorexic! I wouldn't mind losing a couple of pounds, but she is wayyyyyy too skinny to be pretty.
| QUOTE | things like he's self centered |
Now, THAT's absolute bogus! A pile of doodoo that is! Everybody who's dug into this man's life, knows that he's one of the least self-centered men in the world. And believe me, I've met my share of self-centered men! And he wasn't one of them! Ooooh, this quote infuriates me! Now, THIS I can say I do believe. Even though I don't really think he's a womanizer for the fun of it (if he did, I couldn't even blame him), but I think he has this thing with commitment. Kind of like MacGyver had as well. Doesn't Jack O'Neill shy away from commitments as well? Ah anyway, I kind of understand what he feels, I feel somewhat the same So, all this reaffirms that I was right hating this woman.

For a woman in her 40's she sure looks good.

A womanizer yeah. It's not because you don't want to commit, you can't share the sheets for one night. If you both agree on that than have your fun if not than it's Fatal Attraction!
I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver. Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you. It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.

Well, I have not read the whole book. My father has it, I always wanted to borrow it and read it in full, but then again I did not want to. If that makes sense.
A few years ago I bought a whole collection of RDA things - articles, posters, pictures and such. Among these things was part of a journal where they had printed parts of the book, and so I got to read it. I know my friend Paya has a full translation of this part, don't know whether it is in Czech or English, though. If you want to read it, I can ask about it.
This part is about how they got to know each other (how she used her connections to get to know him, to be precise, others would call it stalking), how she had to got used to that now suddenly the paparazzi (and girls) were after him and she got no attention at all, and a bit of time later when they were in Italy together, one morning she woke in the hotel, and asked herself "What am I doing here anymore?" and started to pack, and if he had not awoken by that she would have left without even saying good-bye. Now is that nice? I don't think so. Nobody deserves that, no matter what was before.
She also said that they did not actually spent much time with each other, both having their own careers and being busy. Guess that was part of the problem. Plus she also never could hold any of the men afterwards, also.
And as for RDA being my ideal of man, I want to state, I am not THAT kind of fan. Really. Guess I was the only one being totally calm when I stood next to him for the picture.
Maybe I have not seen all interviews that are out there, but I have not yet heard Rick saying a bad word about any of his previous partners. He is a gentleman in that way. So I just wondered if he gave permission for this book or not.
Maybe I was a bit harsh when I said that I don't like her anymore because only of that. Well, it's not that I hate her or anything, I feel just indifferent towards her. Through my whole school career we always heard about the sports successes (since it was the only thing the GDR was succesful in) so it just got old after a while and I had enough of that. It just did not interest me, and that they always tried to show her as the ideal to look up to, well, I did not like that either. You have to understand, that in Eastern Germany it never was only about the sports, sports always was politics also. And she had to play along to be able to travel to all these Olympic games and such, otherwise they would not have let her. Everybody had to do that.
And nowadays - she might be a good ice-skater, but whenever I see her in a show, talking or even attempting to run the show herself, I feel that she has it not in her, to be an entertainer, and well, I just don't like her attitude. Sue me. So this was only the last straw, I guess.

The book is called Only With Passion: Figure Skating's Most Winning Champion on Competition and Life. I assume it's the same one Astra's talking about. I found this in a review. Don't know if it's an actual excerpt from the book or not: Jasmine then asks Katarina if it is true she once dated "MacGyver"! Yes, she uses the name MacGyver, almost as if she could not remember the actor's name who played him! (Richard Dean Anderson.) Instead of getting huffy, Katarina smiles sadly and reflects on how neither she nor Anderson were willing to move to the other's continent and that killed the romance, which however was quite "intense." What's little known is that MacGyver himself (RDA as his fans call him) isn't a bad skater himself! In love, Witt advises,"if you want to become really serious, to have the relationship work, then somebody has to play second violin." Doesn't she sound charming and old world, where we in California might say, "second fiddle"? I wonder who was having the proplem playing second fiddle? I think at the time, MacGyver was over and it was the height of Witt's career. But then again... he was still MacGyver.

Sometimes the uncontrollable urge to mess with people outweighs the millstone of humility.
