Hi all. No story in this one. Trying to work on one though. My idea on this one is to create my own MacGyverism list of the MacGyverisms that I used in my stories so far. I also have the intend to keep this up-to-date.

MacGyver - Family in Agony

Haven't been here in awhile, I see this forum us still busy! I was really tickled to see current pictures of the houseboat! Wasn't sure where else to post this, so I thought I would post it here.

Anyway, I was the one who compiled the original MacGyverism list in.... oh...... 1994 or 1995 or somewhere around there....... It needed done! When I compiled it, it was in pretty crude form, but I put it on a web site.

Since then, others have put it on their web sites, maybe add one or two MacGyverisms that I missed, fancied it up..... and I'm fine with that, ok with me, I'm not an artist, "fancying things up" is not a skill that I possess. I compiled the list because it was needed. And, FOR THE OFFICIAL RECORD (and this is about as public as one can get), I'm not requiring anyone who places the MacGyverisms on their own website to include my name as the original compiler on their web site, I'd rather stay anonymous.

The only thing I WILL get upset about is..... if someone else publicly makes the claim that they were the original compiler. So far, I haven't seen evidence that anyone has tried to make this claim and I appreciate that. (Actually, I'm surprised, as I made this list over 15 years ago!!!! albeit, crudely.......) So, if anyone ever asks who originally compiled it, the answer is "just a dedicated MacGyver fan who went by the screen name of DXS....." (and I do use DXS on other forums, totally unrelated to MacGyver)

Anyway, now to get to the point of this post..... The original MacGyverism list that I (crudely) compiled is on the server of a dial up account that I have kept..... partly in case I needed the dial-up, one never knows, wireless might not work.... and partly just because of being a MacGyver fan.

Well, I have decided I don't need the dial-up account any more, and I will cancel it in May when my current contract with the ISP runs out. Plus, others that are carrying the MacGyverism list on their web sites have it looking way cooler than I could do it. So, the original (albeit, crude...) MacGyverism list will go "bye bye."

I think I may have posted two years ago that I was going to take it down two years ago, but I never did. This time, it's for sure, I'm canceling my dial up account.

Just remember, I'm not requiring anyone to include my name on their web site. The only thing I care about is that someone else doesn't claim they were the first compiler of the list. But it's ok to claim that you took the (crude list I made) and just "prettied it up."

You could've put this in the main forums of MacGyver Online or in the Board Room.

Here's fine as well, as far as I'm concerned. I just hope it was nothing meant personally towards me. I made this topic just for the MacGyverisms I try to come up with for my own stories. OK, so some of them are taken from the show. Coming up with those isms is not easy you know.

The main forum seems to me to be where it belongs -- I don't know if any of the people she wants to see it will ever see it in here.

For that matter, I'm a bit puzzled by the post. Is there something about her list of MacGyverisms that makes it unique? Haven't other people also compiled lists -- and if so, why does she assume that it's her list being copied? Just wondering.

I actually didn't notice where this post was made, otherwise I would have moved it so it was out in the open a bit more.

But to answer the questions...

For the most part the lists you see around on various web sites are copies (or extensions) of the list created by DXS. It was originally used on the first MacGyver web page and then as more sites got created, the list was used on them as well.

As far as I can recall the only list I've ever seen which wasn't based on the DXS list is on Wikipedia.

The thing which makes it unique is that it was the first ever list of MacGyverisms on the internet, so it's a piece of MacGyver history.
