Okay, okay...I know it's been awhile. That's partly my fault for being lazy and not taking the initiative to call the cable/Internet guy immediately after moving in to my new place. I've also been pretty busy at the same time. Don't worry, though--I'm finally back with a new Mac adventure! I hope you enjoy it!
Hidden Kisses Part One
Rated: PG Blindfolded and gagged, MacGyver could only imagine where his captors were leading him. His hands were bound tightly in front of him with a thick, long chain they used to pull him along, like a dog. Several times, he stumbled over the foreign and uneven ground, earning him sharp shoves forward that threatened to send him crashing to the ground completely. “Keep moving!” One of them barked angrily in Russian. The walk seemed interminable, and though MacGyver was sightless, he could sense the area where they were taking him was vast and immense. He wondered if it was part of the weapons complex he was sent to destroy. The schematics of the building were still fresh in his mind, and as he walked blindly, he began to record how many steps he had taken, trying to compare them to the layout of the building on the blueprints. His captors stopped abruptly, causing him to trip and fall. He heard them laugh, and then he felt a kick to his side that made him gasp in pain against the gag. “Get up!” One of them shouted, this time in English. He tried to resist, but he was blind and helpless, kicking at air. The captors laughed again at his useless struggles, his legs flailing wildly, desperate to make contact with one of them. They yanked him up by the chain, and MacGyver felt it cut into his wrists. He was pulled forward and pushed from behind, his faceless captors crowding around him. Where before the area felt spacious, it now felt small and cramped, the air hot and stagnant. They pulled his bound hands high over his head until it felt as if his shoulders would dislocate, and he felt the sensation of his feet losing contact with the ground. He was dangling by the chain now, only the tips of his toes able to reach the floor. Even without his sight, MacGyver knew what was coming next and dreaded it. All he could do was wait, wondering what form of torture they would employ on him. He felt one of them grab his chin, and he tried to wrench away, but the hand was large and strong, holding him tightly. “We will soon discover your purpose here, American spy,” the man holding his chin whispered in Russian. The clamp on his chin loosened, only to be replaced by the same hand balling into a fist and smashing into MacGyver’s stomach. He released a painful groan, muffled by the gag, and he drooped against the chains holding him, weakened from the blow and gasping for the air that had been forced out of his lungs, the gag preventing him from taking in much air, forcing labored breaths through his nose. Through his pain, he could hear the sounds of feet shuffling out of the room. A door slammed heavily, and everything grew quiet.
*** Hours seemed to pass, and all MacGyver could do was struggle against the chains holding him, groping blindly for an escape. He had been in difficult positions before, but he had never been blind and unable to use his hands. Whoever had captured him was aware of his skills and had taken extra precautions. They had anticipated his arrival from the very beginning, greeting him with a friendly blow to the back of his head before he was even miles from the weapons facility. In frustration, he began to kick and swing on the chains, making muffled sounds against the gag, growing increasingly impatient with his inability to free himself. He tried to wriggle and loosen the chains, but they only grew tighter. Groaning angrily, he stopped swinging, realizing that his exertion had done little except exhaust him. Deciding it was foolish to waste his energy on futile efforts, he stopped, trying to catch his breath through his nostrils and feeling sweat gather on his face. He hung there, trying to think of some other idea. The door to the room opened, and MacGyver grew even more still, waiting to see what his captors had planned for him next. His body tensed as he heard the footsteps grow closer. He could sense the presence of another human body near him, but he hated not knowing where the person was exactly, only able to rely on sound to determine the person’s location. He grew even more rigid as he waited to see what new kind of pain would be inflicted on him. “I will help you get out of here,” a woman’s voice whispered in Russian. Stunned, MacGyver felt a pair of cool hands touch his hot face. Slender fingers slowly removed the gag around his mouth, and the next thing he knew, soft, warm lips were touching his in a kiss. Her mouth was sweet and responsive, and MacGyver found himself returning the kiss, even though he didn’t know the woman. As she pulled away, he wondered if he was hallucinating from his long hours of captivity, enduring hanging by a chain without food or water, or if she was sent in as a different method of interrogation, meant to soften his resolve and get him to reveal his secrets. “Who…?” He began to ask. “Shh…” The woman cooed, touching his lips with the tip of her index finger. “I must get you down,” she said in English. MacGyver felt the tightness of the chain slacken, and soon he could touch the floor again. He nearly crumpled to the ground, unused to standing after hanging for so long, but he felt the woman’s hands steady him. The chain loosened completely, and he heard it fall to the floor in a clinking sound. His arms tingled painfully after being held up for so long, but he tried to move them anyway, raising his hands to remove the blindfold. A pair of hands grabbed his wrists firmly, causing him to wince in pain from the cuts caused by the chain. “Don’t,” the woman said. “But…why?” MacGyver asked, recovering from the pain in his wrists. “I do not want you to know my identity.” MacGyver smiled. “Why not? What are you, a superhero?” He asked. He heard her laugh slightly. “We must hurry,” she said, clasping her small, smooth, yet sturdy hands around his. “Come, I will lead you.” Once again, MacGyver felt himself being led down long, winding corridors, but this time they seemed narrower and more difficult to move through, and he realized that whoever this woman was, she was taking him through some underground network that would lead them out of wherever they were. “Careful,” she whispered in her heavily accented English. “It is rather dark through these passageways.” MacGyver grinned. “You’re telling me,” he said. The woman turned and looked at him, remembering he was still blindfolded. She smiled, finding his grin and his wit charming. “Now, we are almost there,” she said quietly. “I have a car waiting.” The air grew colder, and MacGyver realized they were now outside. He heard an engine running in the distance. “It is not much further,” the woman said, leading him. “Hey! What are you doing?” Someone in the distance shouted in Russian. “We must hurry!” The woman shouted. She began running, pulling MacGyver along with her. Gunshots fired, and MacGyver and the woman ran faster. He felt awkward, stumbling over things he couldn’t see, but he kept up the pace with the woman holding his hands. More gunshots rang in the air, and MacGyver could tell they were getting closer as the reverberations grew louder. “Come on!” The woman shouted, running even faster. A bullet ricocheted off the side of something metal, and MacGyver realized they had reached the car. He heard a door open, and the woman released his hands. He felt pressure on his back, and he realized she was now standing behind him, urging him to get inside the car. “Hurry,” she said. “Get in, but be careful. Watch your head.” MacGyver felt around for the edges of the car with his hands. Once he was confident, he got inside and heard the door slam behind him. He tried to pull off the blindfold to get a glimpse of the woman who was risking her life for him, but she was quick, jumping into the driver’s side and noticing his movements. “I said not to remove the blindfold,” she said, a sense of urgency in her voice. She screamed when a bullet shattered the glass in the windshield. “Are you all right?” MacGyver asked. “We must leave, now!” She shouted, slamming her foot down on the accelerator. MacGyver was knocked back into his seat as they sped away, gunshots and yells from angry guards still ringing out behind them. They grew increasingly distant, and soon they were no longer a threat, everything growing silent again. MacGyver felt the cool air rush into the car from the hole in the windshield blowing onto his face. Feeling the rapid speed of the car move beneath his feet made him feel slightly dizzy and disoriented, his eyes unavailable to make any solid connection to anything that would make him feel grounded. He almost felt as if he was floating in a dream. “Where are you taking me?” He asked. “Somewhere safe,” the woman said. “You’re not much into details, are you?” “I am sorry I cannot be more specific.” “You can’t tell me anything? Like where we are, who you are…anything?” “No. I am afraid I cannot.” “Why?” He heard the woman sigh. “It is…complicated,” she said. “Who do you work for? Was this a planned rescue? Did someone hire you?” “No more questions, please MacGyver.” “How did you know my name?” “Listen, I already told you that I cannot...I am to drop you somewhere safe. Once we are there, you will not remove the blindfold until I am gone. Understand?” “Okay fine, it’s just that I…” he paused, trying to place the elegant sound of her voice. “Do you know me? That’s how you would know my name, isn’t it?” “MacGyver please.” “Well look, I’m sorry, it’s just that I’m sitting here in a blindfold, having no clue as to who you are or where we’re going. Excuse me for being just a little confused and uncertain.” “All you must know is that I will help you.” “Why? And how can I be sure you’re not hired to kill me?” “You must trust me.” MacGyver felt the car slow and then stop. “You will get out here,” the woman said. MacGyver felt around for the door handle. Once he had it, he opened the door and carefully felt for the distance to the ground with his feet. He touched the roof of the car and pulled himself forward, making sure he cleared it before standing fully. He listened as the woman’s footsteps approached him. He could hear her breathing, and he knew she was only inches away from him. He reached out and tried to touch her face, but she pulled away. “I must leave you now,” she said. “You will figure out the way from here.” He heard her breathing tighten, as if she were about to cry. “Goodbye, MacGyver.” He heard her walking away towards the car, and he tried to follow her, stumbling and reaching out, searching for her with his hands. “Please,” he said. “Wait.” “I must go,” she said, slamming the car doors and driving away. MacGyver listened as the roar of the car’s engine faded. Even though he was curious about who she was, he honored her request and didn’t remove the blindfold until he could no longer hear the car. When he did, he saw that he was in a heavily wooded area, somewhere where he could easily hide and find a way to elude recapture. He stood on the side of the road for awhile, dazed. Everything that happened to him since arriving—his failed mission, his capture—all of it seemed insignificant compared to the mysterious woman who had rescued him. He wondered if he would ever learn her identity, or if he would ever see her again. He considered it doubtful, but it didn’t stop him from wondering about who she was.
