MACGYVER: GRADUATION

Mac let his foot off the gas pedal as his shimmering blue Chevy Nomad slowed into the parking spot. He sighed as the engine died down and he leaned back in the plush leather seat. He peered out the window, viewing his apartment. He begrudgingly stepped out and shut the door. He climbed the stairs and muscled his way into the atrium. It was warm, almost too warm, but comfortable. A coffee pot sat on the table. It was there since Mac moved in. He cringed but approached the reliable water fountain. After taking a satisfying drink, he headed upstairs to his pad. He pulled his keys out of his back pocket and tried to push the protrusion into the lock. But the door swung open. He looked up, still puzzled, and peeked inside. He yelled “Sam? Hello?” Only cold silence answered him. He stepped inside and scanned the room for any possible traps. There wasn’t anything apparently out-of-place. There was a hastily scribbled note on the dusty television set, though. Mac detached it from the screen and read it aloud “Turn it on” it read in jagged letters. Mac debated his next move, but retrieved the remote. He moved his thumb to the “POWER” button. He hesitated. He decided to play it safe and kneeled behind the couch. He blindly pointed the control over the sofa as he covered his head. He pressed the button, half-expecting to be blown to smithereens. But the small sizzle of the image manifesting on the screen sounded. He slowly looked over the edge and saw he was watching a news program. A man’s face appeared next to a reporter. He had a dull expression, constantly content, with white stubble covering his chin. His lazy eyes hid something sinister, something unsettling. MacGyver shook his head in disbelief.

“The infamous killer ‘Dr. Zito’ has escaped his holding facility early this morning. He is famed for murdering an unknown number of victims, with the closest estimate being over 1000. He is considered extremely dangerous and should be reported if seen. In other news, the city’s newest amusement park has-“ Mac reduced the screen to blackness again. His jaw had dropped. The door closed with a crash. A voice from outside shouted “Welcome back to school!”
