Good question.

In reality it probably got cleaned up and recycled in other shows for background vehicles in scenes and such.

either that or it suffered the same fate as the Original Kitt car from Knight Rider.. stripped down for parts and left to rust in a back lot somewhere.

It would be interesting to see all the MacGyver´s cars in some place in the same way that you can see a collections of Famous Houses used in TV shows in Universal Studios, Ca (Psycho, Monster Family...)

In the end of 80´s some of the cars used in the TV show Knithrider as KITT were in different exhibitions in many countries.

It would be interesting see the cars used in Back to the future, KITT, MacGyver...

I think the last time I saw it was in Pigeon Forge TN at a car Museum.

It belongs in the Smithsonian as far as I'm concerned.

Except they weren't the actual cars used to film the show. They where replicas made to send around to car shows etc.

We also need to remember that the jeep was really just prop and not a major "character" or icon of the show in the way that Kitt,General Lee or the Batmobile are.

Hmmm. I'd say the Jeep is nearly as iconic to the show as the SAK and bomber jacket. Although granted not as iconic as Kitt or the General Lee, because those shows were really based around the vehicle. MacGyver was based around the character, so I guess only iconic to us fans of the show.

In watching the episode "Renegade" I noticed something I either forgot about or hadn't taken notice of all these years.

I think the original color of Mac's Jeep, or at least the original color of one of the two Jeeps used on the show was . . . BROWN. Watch at the end of the episode when he opens the passenger door for Steve, he opens the door all the way (so that it is parallel) with the right front fender. It is at this point you can see the inside edge of the door which is brown.

This makes sense given that in "The Eraser", when Mac is following Linda, he has the top and the doors off and the interior is a camel color. I know that the 1987 YJ models came in brown with a camel colored interior.

Additionally, throughout the series the color of the interior of the door panels switches from black to the camel.

Also, look at the Jeep's steering wheel. It looks as though it was camel color at one time, was painted black and now the black paint is chipping off.

It would be interesting to know the original color of the other Jeep, given that the interior of that Jeep is black.

I also saw in episode ''Outsiders'' during jeep crash scene the close shot from jeep steering wheel and its black color was kind chipping off, first I thought the steering wheel was rusty, but no...

I saw a General Lee in Gattlinburg in 03 whilst I was travelling across the U.S....not that that is particularly relevant here!!
