Well, I actually still have a couple of the seasons. The store wouldn't buy back season 3 because one of the discs was scratched. And they wouldn't take season 4 because I lost the cardboard slipcase.
As for the rest of the season... I don't know... I don't think I'll really miss them. I've seen all of the episodes several times already, and there are so many new shows I haven't gotten around to watching yet, so I'd rather spend my time getting into something new, rather than rewatching stuff I already know. Also, as much as I loved the show as a kid, it simply doesn't appeal to me on the same level anymore.

How do you lose a slip cardboard of your dvd? This is sacrilege. ohmy.gif
But seriously though, somewhere I understand it. On the other hand, there is still a lot of stuff in my collection I haven't seen yet like movies and other shows. But that ain't no reason though to sell out dvd's in my opinion. I've waited too long for the series to be released on dvd and it's what shelves are for. biggrin.gif

And if there's one thing I do pay attention or care for it's my dvd's. When I look at my brother, he places discs everywhere or randomly, same thing with dvd-covers or boxes and in the end he is shocked he loses things. Throwing away things or losing things part of a dvd is to me a very big no-no.

When it comes down to appealing... I can understand it. But maybe I am one of the few that never grows out of things. Odd? Maybe. Some peoples like things because they have the age for it. Once passed a certain age they turn against it. But I have a big sense of loyalty for the things I like and usually when I like something, I'll never dislike it. I like the Power Rangers since I was 8 and I like Mac since I was like 4 or 5. Some peoples don't understand that but I think it's the sense of nostalgia.

Actually, I wasn't the one who lost it. I bought the set "used" from Amazon, and it didn't come with the slipcase. But, hey, I got the entire season for about $6, so I couldn't complain.

I still love the show from a nostalgic standpoint, but the bad acting, preachy moral lessons, low production values, etc, just make it a bit harder to really enjoy these days. And I got over $30 for selling the DVDs, so now I'll use that money towards some new stuff (I'm currently working my way through all the seasons of 24. On the fifth season now, and loving it.)

Well it doesn't always have to be big and bad to make it enjoyable.

Sounds like a fair price than.

Well everybody' is allowed to do with their money what they want.

24 was good with exception of one season. The fifth was one of the darkest seasons around. And one of the best plots too. Not sure if you noticed it but Stephen Kronish (The Eraser, Back From The Dead) wrote a couple of episodes of season 4 and became producer for season 5 of 24.

That's definitely true. And I certainly don't mean to sound like I'm bashing MacGyver-- obviously I'm a fan, and I grew up loving the show. But I just reached a point where I didn't really care to rewatch it anymore (though I'm kind of glad that I wasn't able to sell seasons 3 and 4.)

Yeah, I heard the sixth season was quite bad. I might be getting that season for free from a friend, though.
The fifth season had a GREAT plot. I don't know if I'd call it the darkest, though. I thought Season 3 felt a bit darker, actually. And Jack was at his darkest in seasons 2 and 3 (of the seasons I've seen so far... I heard he gets pretty dark again by the end of the series.)

Huh... I completely forgot that Kronish had any involvement with MacGyver. Thanks for pointing that out.

Speaking of 24 & MacGyver-- One thing that I particularly like about 24 is how Jack's character evolves based on what he's been through. I realize it wasn't common to do that in the 80s, so I can't fault MacGyver for not doing that, but it does seem a bit odd that no matter many of Mac's friends get killed or betray him, he still seems like a pretty cheerful, happy-go-lucky guy (well, except for in the 7th season, when he seemed pretty irritable most of the time.)

Difference between Mac and Jack is that Jack has lost everything after season 1. MacGyver can put everything into perspective. Or almost anything. Friends getting killed, he mourns, friends who turns out to be traitors, he'll make sure they'll receive the proper punishment, usually by getting them arrested. They go to jail, that saves the day and end of story.

Jack pulls all the plugs to get the bad guys. He'll wound them, torture them, threaten their families to get answers and kill them in the end. He's under a lot more pressure than Mac, I think. It's like 'act fast think faster act more faster'. He has to get arrangements done in matter of moments. Just like Mac you might say but different.

Mac and Jack had their shares of torture and injuries. Though Mac has never been tortured in the classical way. Being tortured till you break. And each time something fails or he gets injured you might say it was bad luck. Something Jack can't afford.

Sometimes I wonder how Mac would do in a 24-plot. Mac versus Jack Bauer. They would not get along. There is always another way than guns blazing during a bust. Jack would get in there firing his gun fast at everyone, take the guy and torture him for answers. I can see Mac make more time, MacGyverism something to get it done his way.

It would be funny to see Mac and Jack Bauer trying to work together. Something tells me Jack would end up saying, "DAMN IT, MAC!" a whole lot... especially when Mac keeps knocking Jack's gun out of his hand!
