Nafud Desert

Pete Thornton mentions in his explanation of how he and MacGyver first met, that MacGyver saved him from quicksand in the “Wadee Nafud” desert. 

NOTE:
We assume that he was referring to the An-Nafud desert in Saudi Arabia.
There is an area of northern Saudi Arabia called the Al Widyan (or alwidyan) Plan – Al Widyan means Valleys in Arabic… so it’s probable that Pete is actually saying (maybe mis-pronouncing) Widyan or Widy Nafud in reference to that area of the desert.
