Hei people, I am a big Macgver fan from Norway. I am coming to Vancouver on sunday and wants to se some Macgyver locations. Does anyone know where the cabin in the Widowmaker murdoc episode is? Is it in the are with shannon falls?
I am Going to drive from Vancouver to Calgary via Whistler, Kamloops, Revelstoke, Lake louise, Jasper and Banff before heading to Calgary. Is IT some locations on that Roald after Klahanie campground

Episode: Ghost Ship

Hi all

I know it has been posted some time ago, but I since no definite answer was given I would like to brig it up again: the EXACT landing location of the ship on the lake. It is known that this episode was shot around North Vancouver, which means that Capilano Lake, Buntzen Lake, Indian Arm are a good hint as they were used in other episodes too.

I'll be honest the Ghost Ship location is so so interesting, that while ago when I found the location I kept it in secret.

But Daniel's guess about Indian Arm is right So it was filmed just behind that Bunzen Lake Power House in Indian Arm.

By googling Indian Arm, it's pretty much impossible to find a picture which is taken in same perspective as the episode was filmed, so Google Earth is in those situations usually a big help.

Don't know what makes these locations/scenes/clips so compelling to so many and after the passing of several decades ???? ..... but I'd have to admit that I'm right there with all of you drawn into this magic. Just well thought out cinematography, I think, and that well accentuates the (often) lonely nature of the main characters' job/lifestyle. Additionally, the accompanying musical composition is usually spot on the money with the viewers' anticipated emotional whereabouts.

I think the term you're looking for is "quality production".

Quality was there, but it was also very much a 'natural production' and thus one that any of us could easily step into at any time. This is much harder/harsher to do so with today's computerized sets/scenes.

One more note on the Ghost Ship location:
Here is an interview with Calvin Clemens Jr. who was the supervising producer of this episode. In this interview he gives away that the ship was towed into a bay or inlet.

Thatīs how I came up with the Indian Arm as this is suitable to move a ship from other locations more easily, unlike lakes.
But thanks to MiracleMac we have a proof finally. :-)

Those motorcycle scenes and the boat explosion was filmed in Indiana Dunes area: 34°25'30.06"N 118°37'17.78"W
So I suspect the whole episode was filmed there too.

That jungle looking forest in "Family Matter", it's similar to what appeared in "The Golder Triangle" episode, which was also filmed in Indiana Dunes.
