CBS have teamed up with MacGyver creator, Lee David Zlotoff to represent the merchandising rights for the iconic TV series.

There has been no explanation of exactly what the terms of the agreement are or what exactly it means for either party, but executive vice president and general manager of CBS Consumer Products, Liz Kalodner said in her statement that they will look to work with licensees who have the same sort of creativeness as the MacGyver character.

We will have to wait to see if this agreement has any reciprocal benefits for Zlotoff's new MacGyver projects.

I smell a MacGyver movie on the way!!!

That will depend on whether a production company can be found. CBS are only doing the merchandising, which I assume means distribution, promotion etc.

I'm kinda hopeful that it will allow Lee Zlotoff to use the old MacGyver characters though. It's pretty hard to reboot a show with no connection to the old show. Might as well be a completely different show.

You smell a movie? I don't smell anything in particular. We were often disappointed in the past.

It's still early. But I think it's interesting to know that CBS and Zlotoff might team up for a merchandising campaign. They still have to look into it and than they'll see what they might or might not do.

I wouldn't announce the movie just yet. We might be setting a very very small step in the right direction but we're not on our way to a movie yet.

Maybe "MacGyver" camping gear?

How cool would it be if they teamed up with Nike and made vintage versions of the different high tops he wore?

Ooh, ooh, ooh. It just hit me, the best marketing idea yet, team up with Chrysler and produce a reproduction of 's Jeep.

They have already assigned a director to the movie with Zlotoff saying in an interview when MacGruber was released that it was in bad taste since they were so close to making the MacGyver movie.

There is currently nothing tangible that would suggest any market for merchandise unless there was something to jump start it.

LDZ pulled the plug when it became obvious that they where heading down different paths.

There's no "might" about it. They have teamed up. It's been announced on both CBS and LDZ's site.

As of right now CBS is Zlotoff's merchandising partner for MacGyver products. What we don't know is whether that means all products or only certain things, or what?

But I guess all will become clear in the fullness of time. Just a case of us having to continue to wait I guess.

With next year being the 30th anniversary, maybe that means they have something special cooking.

I'll just sit here and keep my fingers crossed. lol

I'm very sorry but I'm always suspicious when they want to 'revive' an iconic series.So I'll be very cautious and wait for more news.
