QUOTE | Near an askew sign reserving parking for the P.T.A. president, I saw Richard Dean Anderson, the sixty-eight-year-old actor who played MacGyver on TV. He had on a headlamp and, around his neck, a lanyard for his keys and eyeglasses. When the fire hit the point, he said, “It was like that scene in ‘Wizard of Oz’ where Dorothy’s caught in this whirlwind. I had zero visibility, and it was hot, dark brown smoke, and ash. I was starting to feel some little burning stings.” He stayed up for the next several nights, going after sparks with an extinguisher. “We’re without electricity, for a while there was no water pressure, and there’s no communication whatsoever.” Someone offered him a solar light to take home, which he accepted genially. I asked him if he’d had to rig anything from gum foil during the ordeal. “I’m hanging flashlights from a chandelier, putting them on broad beam,” he said. “There are numerous times when you just don’t have something, and you have to make it work. A couple of times, I have made myself chuckle.” A moment later, he couldn’t find his glasses. When I pointed out that they were around his neck, he smiled and said, “MacGyver, eh?” |
Yeah he definitely should have evacuated

Yep, now that makes it clear he wasn't at an outpost. Dang it, RDA, leave!

QUOTE (MacGyverOnline @ 16 November 2018 - 04:25 PM) | QUOTE (zoeryan @ 17 November 2018 - 08:22 AM) | The pro-RDA consensus on his fan site seems to be that he turned around because the evacuation route was too dangerous - it's an interesting possibility, as some people did run into trouble in their cars trying to evacuate - although I have to wonder if that was due to waiting too long after the evacuation order. Either way, I'm glad he's okay! |
Oy! They've gone down the Trump route of making up alternative facts to fit the reality they want rather than the reality that is. I think his own words in the email he sent make it pretty clear that he made a decision once he got to the end of the road to turn around. If there had been blockage etc I'm pretty sure he would have mentioned it in the email. I can't stand twisting of facts like this. Annoys the crap out of me!!! |
I could be wrong but I get the feeling that forum is mostly women and mostly on the older side (as in long term fans, just speculation from comments about technology ). There are probably other people that are both here and there, and I swear I mean zero offense in that. It also seems there might be more O'Neill/Stargate fans - but Stargate is a bigger and more recent franchise than MacGyver so that makes sense. Generally speaking I get more excited about a franchise than the celebrity - I figure why learn too much about actors when there is a good chance you'll not like some aspect and then it might taint your enjoyment of whatever show/movie you liked. Of course MacGyver's character was fairly entwined with RDA so I know a bit more about him than usual lol

Go down the Trump route ? Mostly old women fans ? Thank for your kind remarks , both of you ! We appreciate .
|
I didn't say old women fans lol, I said it was an older demographic (and never said I wasn't a part of that demographic lol) - somehow I knew I was going to offend someone, but it was purely observational - I found it interesting that there was a lot of criticism of RDA here and praise of him there. I'm an old Mac fan, new to both sites, so what do I know! I like you all

That's just when you realize that actors are also just human beings with flaws like anyone else. Nobody is perfect. I've seen some of my favorite actors do things I don't agree with but that doesn't make me like their work less. Sometimes they just do stupid things because they are undoubtedly under a lot of stress and pressure and get consumed by their name and fame. That's occupational hazard, I guess.

I agree with this - I really enjoy Tom Cruise movies even though lots of people really dislike him as a person, but I don’t try to shield myself from things, I know they’re people, lol. But it’s because they’re real people that I don’t tend to invest as much time idolizing them, and prefer to talk about the work.

That's probably due to that Scientology-thing years ago. Strange, because I think Tom Cruise seems like a nice person to me. He always smiles (unless that's the reason why a lot of people dislike him: he smiles) and he's got one hell of a career, so I guess he knows what he's doing when it comes to his career. That whole Scientology thing, it was probably blown up by the media too to give Cruise some sort of image but it never affected his career and I rarely hear bad things about him except that he makes one good movie after another.
I think the poison that was used was applied to this knife, passed to the mutton when it was cut and then activated by the wine. - MacGyver. Sometimes you just have to die a little inside to be reborn and rise again as a stronger and wiser version of you. It's better to be a little sad than to be fake content.
