So, I've been learning how to do a bunch of stuff... including how to edit video, record audio, etc, etc, etc... and I was working on a little project I thought you guys would appreciate. smile.gif My friends and I are going to start doing gameplay videos in the future, so....

...I'm actually using you guys as guinea pigs.... *cough* smile.gif

Ok a window should be in one of the circles (not sure which one).

Posted by: Kristelle 4 June 2015 - 12:40 AM
Hey! So cool! What program do you use for that? I love that stuff! thumbsup.gif

I recently used some time studying the house boat actually, trying to figure out how it looks like and where things are. I love this house and thought of taking inspiration from it to build my own house -perhaps, one day...- biggrin.gif You find a lot of pictures there:

http://www.macgyveronline.com/pages/houseboat.html#.VXAJP3MU6kq
On one of the pictures they say "Front Door Leading into the lounge area with blue storage room door to the right." it confused me quite a lot before I found out it must be a mistake. It is actually not a front door but a little door on the back wall, leading to the storage room which would be back the wall aside the fireplace.

About the back wall, you see its upper part (aside the fire place) very shortly in High control (S4) where you get the best pictures for the 2nd floor too as in MacGyver's women (S6). In Halloween Knight (S6) you see the first floor empty.
The back wall has a window at the kitchen corner, you see it quite well on the real pictures of the lounge. Then the wall continues and opens to the first floor's bathroom and laundry facilities, never mentioned on the series but you see it quite well from the outside picture as it is the rectangle block on the back: bathroom up with a mini-balcony, and toilets/laundry down with the storage room aside. Then comes the little door leading to the storage room.
They actually used the real houseboat for outside shots, and a studio for the inside. Which explains why we do not see everything and why the kitchen/lounge are not at the "right! place in the real house. The second floor did not exist in the studio, the stairs leading nowhere, they had the bedroom aside for filming, and there was only one bedroom in the series while in the house you have a half-bedroom (where you see the sewing machine, no door there, it is part of the landing, over the kitchen), the bathroom, and a wonderful bedroom (master bedroom) over the living-room

That's a great design, Jedi. Top work! thumbsup.gif

Yes what program you using?

Posted by: Jediferret 4 June 2015 - 12:13 PM
I'm actually using a game called Sims 4. If you've never heard of it, it's a fun PC game. This is the most recent version, which I've only had for a couple of weeks. It's mostly used to create people, or Sims. But the building feature is just fun and easy to use. The game has a bit of fun, twisted humor... so it's worth looking into if anyone is interested in playing it.

As for the lot, once it's finished, and if you own Sims 4, you can download this lot for free to use, edit and play with. Which is what I'm planning to do once I'm done with it. smile.gif

Thanks for all the info guys! I will play with it this weekend. I already see some changes I need to make. lolz

OMG. That voice! wub.gif

There's a coupe of pictures of that back wall yoru asking about in http://www.macgyveronline.com/pages/houses.html#.VXEwQdKqpBc

You can also see it in Runners - (when Jennifer first goes to the houseboat) and Rock the Cradle.

I always thought of the bathroom extending out over the kitchen, much like it does in the real interior of that house.

Duh! You mention it. I must have been smoking something at the time. roller.gif

Last Sims game I played was Sims 2. I think I vaguely recall a design feature but rarely played it. Great work Jedi!

Posted by: Kristelle 4 June 2015 - 10:00 PM
I remember my son talked about Sim4 but we don't have it... I'll see if we can find it somewhere. I am no videogame player, so it can be a big step for me to start with that kind of thing dry.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 5 June 2015 - 03:56 AM
First of all, I have to admit, I love your voice. You've got this storytelling voice. Love it. wub.gif

Anyway, I always found the Sims fascinating but their games always seem the come out real fast. How many games do they have? 20? I think it's because of that I never really got into it, there are so many of them out there. I guess it's the expansion and accessory packs.

Good work so far. I understand you want to keep it as real to the actual houseboat as possible. If that was a real house, everybody would walk against the stairs. I'd move it more to the left but you gotta do it with the things available right.

Every thought about adding water around the house? Oh and remember you can see from the top floor into the living room. biggrin.gif

Keep it up.

Posted by: KiwiTek 5 June 2015 - 04:40 AM
I can't remember which episode it's in but there is a scene which shows most of that back wall and there was a little alcove behind the desk which had a big plant in it. I remember it because I thought it was odd to have the desk in front of what looked like a doorway entrance and also odd to have a giant plant stuffed in it.

Anyway here's a shot from Ma Dalton....

You can see that back wall in "Jericho games" .

Posted by: MacGyverGod 5 June 2015 - 07:39 AM
Indeed. biggrin.gif

I think also in Halloween Knights they take a high shot from the corner to show the empty houseboat and I think you can see most of the wall there too.

here, at 16.57 you see Mac standing at his desk and half of the back wall is quite clear back himl: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2ft9t8_macgyver-s6-e12-jerico-games_fun

how did you do that Kiwitek?? surprise.gif It never works for me... sad.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 6 June 2015 - 08:50 AM
Wow, lots of material! Thanks guys! I'll go ahead and make some changes to the main level today... the upstairs will be the next to tackle. BWAHAHAHA!!!

I actually did an original attempt at this with Sims2 but I no longer had my expansion packs and my old computer just couldn't handle it. The building feature is so much more powerful in Sims 4, at least... in my personal opinion.

I have thought about putting it on water. Anything you build can be easily moved and in build mode you can do anything basically. Once I'm finished, I will move it, and put water around it. smile.gif

Those thinking of getting Sims4, it's a great game if you're gamer or not. My mother used to spend hours building and designing houses in Sims1. The Create-A-Sim feature is also very easy... they liken it to using clay, and you can make just about anyone. I'll post a couple of videos a bit further down.

Thanks for all the compliments... the compliments on my voice was very unexpected. XD Usually people find my voice annoying. *shrugs* You guys are awesome. blush.gif notworthy.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 6 June 2015 - 01:39 PM
This seems like so much fun! laugh.gif

I already went to see in the shop but it's still a bit pricey and there is an expansion pack I'd like. Sims Get To Work. I've seen a few clips of it though. All those players are like ecstatic especially on working at the hospital and there are like so many other options to start companies. You can start boutiques and etc. Hmm, I wonder if there is a teacher's career available? I think the options with this game are almost endless.

Jedifferet, I'm looking forward to your finished result. Keep posting those vids.

Posted by: Jediferret 6 June 2015 - 09:23 PM
I think I lucked out because I got it half price. As soon as I did, it went back up to full price. I got the Outdoor Retreat expansion pack, and next week they're adding more lots and a new town for free.

I'll try to stay away from the expansion pack while making the houseboat so that way there won't be any problems with people downloading the lot that might not have it.

If I don't have an update by tomorrow, then later this upcoming week. smile.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 7 June 2015 - 01:03 AM
I think the regular game here was around € 33.99 (which is a fair price) and the expansion pack also or maybe a little more expensive. So together that quite adds up.

Just wondering how it works because you need the original game to be able to play the expansion which you have to buy and install seperately? And then there is a whole bunch of downloadable content?

Seeing this just wants me to make my own town. Creating sims based on people you know maybe, just as in that vid you posted. The hell with it, maybe I just have to buy it.

The outdoor retreat seems like a MacGyver thing. You don't by any chance plan to make him a Sim, are you? biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 7 June 2015 - 02:30 AM
Yeah, you buys Sims 4 first, then you buy the expansions separately. The "Get to Work" one is a bit pricey for an expansion, but that may be due to the things you can now do in the game, I presume. It's expensive here in the US too.

Usually expansion packs run about $15-20. Outdoor Retreat was $15 for me. I'll probably wait on Get to Work until it comes down in price.

I actually do have a MacGyver Sim, though he didn't come out the way I wanted. There are some MacGyver Sims you can download already, but I still like mine better. I can show him in the next video. I also have Dean and Sam Winchester.

wink.gif

Posted by: denizen 7 June 2015 - 11:28 AM
Strangely all the reviews i have read on Sims 4 have been pretty lowsy. Most actually prefer Sims 3.

Do you think its better? More so, do you know what the big deal is?

Posted by: Jediferret 7 June 2015 - 12:11 PM
Actually, I don't. I've only play Sims 3 on the Xbox360, and it makes a lousy console game. lol In fact, I like the graphics better in Sims 4. Sims 3 graphics always looked a bit... off. But, I'm used to Sims being kinda cartoonish. So the more realistic looking Sims just looks creepy to me.

Posted by: MacGyverGod 8 June 2015 - 05:36 AM
I heard Sims 3 was more of an open world like game with no loading screens so that you can actually see them travel to their destinations. They took that out of the game apparently. Just as toddlers and swimming pools.

I think some of the comments and reviews are exaggerated but I haven't played the games, so what do I know?

Posted by: Elizabeth MacGyver 8 June 2015 - 07:30 AM
So can you can make sims?

Posted by: Jediferret 10 June 2015 - 05:23 AM
You sure can! I'll probably have a gameplay video of my MacGyver Sim later today. I just need to go to work for a few hours first, and then I'll come home, finish up the video and upload it to YouTube. So keep your eyes peeled. happy.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 10 June 2015 - 10:54 AM

I think I'm gonna buy this game, after all!! thumbsup.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 11 June 2015 - 02:04 AM
I think I'm convinced as well.

Posted by: Jediferret 11 June 2015 - 04:24 AM
DO IT! lol You won't regret it. The game is a LOT of fun. If you decide to get the game and would like my MacGyver Sim, let me know and I'd be happy to upload him to the Sims4 community. He's a Young Adult, and just started to learn new skills.

If you noticed, when the Sim sat down to eat, you can see the unfinished houseboat in the upper right hand corner. His potted plants are currently outside. XD

Posted by: KiwiTek 11 June 2015 - 01:26 PM
What the hell language is that??!!

Have you seen the upstairs photos on our http://www.macgyveronline.com/pages/houses.html#.VXn87fmqpBc?

Posted by: Jediferret 11 June 2015 - 01:56 PM
They made it up. lol But it's called Simlish. It's supposed be up to the player to use their imagination on what they're talking about.

Oh yeah, I've seen those. I've been using these pictures a lot as references. wink.gif I have an idea on the layout, or at least, I think I do.... XD But I'm gonna give it go tonight, and see what I can come up with. happy.gif

Posted by: MacGyverGod 11 June 2015 - 03:24 PM
Simlish = Gibberish. It's says so much more than actual language.

Posted by: Jediferret 11 June 2015 - 03:41 PM
The thought bubbles are supposed to help give an idea on what they're saying... the rest is up to the player. Around the 4-minute mark, I picked an interaction for MacGyver which was to tell a joke about Mimes. XD

Update coming soon!!! (I had to dig around to find this thread)

I should have an update either today or tomorrow. I spent my entire holiday weekend working on it, so once I get home from work, I'll be making a video with the updates. biggrin.gif

Posted by: denizen 5 September 2017 - 08:06 PM
smile.gif Cool!

Posted by: Jediferret 6 September 2017 - 01:27 PM
Here's the update!

I didn't mention this in the video, but there's actually a lot based off the MacGyver 2.0 house. I've thought about downloading it, but I haven't done so yet.

Anyway, enjoy!

thumbsup.gif Outstanding Jedi!! This is my dreamhouse, along with a Wrangler outside of course!! When we lived near Olympia, Washington we used to live taking walks at the harbor and checking out all the cool houseboats. I really think they are worth the extra effort...nothing more awesome IMO.

Posted by: denizen 6 September 2017 - 08:28 PM
I agree. Great job indeed Jedi. Looks great. And now i believe they will be porting Sims 4 to XB1 in November! happy_dance.gif

Posted by: Jediferret 7 September 2017 - 04:03 AM
Thanks guys! happy.gif

I heard about the port! I prefer it on PC as moving the camera around gets a bit awkward, I may just be used to it on PC. I had Sims 3 on the Xbox 360, and didn't care for it. But hey! Whatever works, right? XD

Posted by: denizen 7 September 2017 - 04:29 AM
Well, i will wait for the reviews before jumping the gun so we will see.

Posted by: Jediferret 7 September 2017 - 04:58 AM
Don't blame ya there. Sims isn't a cheap game. You can easily drop a couple hundred dollars on just expansions alone.

Posted by: MacGyverOnline 11 November 2017 - 02:54 PM
What language is that?

Posted by: Jediferret 11 November 2017 - 03:39 PM
It's called Simlish. It's basically just made up gibberish turned into a language. They've been using it since the first game.

I'm kinda used to it by this point. lol

Thanks! happy.gif I appreciate it!

Also, for those interested, the Houseboat is now live on Sims4! If you want to share it, please do! My original upload got 6 downloads in five minutes after it went live! =O

Edit: MacGyver Sim is also live. If you're having trouble locating the houseboat, you can search the community by EA Account ID: Jediferret

Posted by: denizen 26 November 2017 - 08:00 PM
I might have a look at it very soon. Will be getting Sims 4 fr Xmas (Hopefully) and will check it out!

Posted by: Jediferret 27 November 2017 - 07:02 AM
If you have any questions, let me know! For some odd reason, the Houseboat won't show up in the MacGyver listing. It does show up if you type in houseboat, or search by my user name. *shrugs*

Even my MacGyver sim did rather well. Then again, even if one person downloads it, that's a success for me. XD It doesn't take much to make me happy. lol

Posted by: denizen 27 November 2017 - 08:35 PM
Ill definitely check it out biggrin.gif

Just need my new pc which i will be getting hopefully today. Then hopefully Sims 4 for Xmas! whistle.gif

And theeennnnnn.... happy_dance.gif

Be prepared to spend about an hour just trying to figure out the mechanics. XD My first day, I spent hours just creating my first Sim! You'll have to let me know if you like it denizen! Then you'll be as addicted as I am. XD

I KNEW I was going to forget something. XD So, later today, I'm going to take the houseboat down and re-upload it (EA servers willing). I forgot that you can add traits to your lots, so the Houseboat doesn't have any... though anyone can add traits when they download it. They have some fun ones... like Gremlins that break stuff at night, or have it on an earthquake zone... OR you can make it haunted. XD

But I plan to add positive traits to it...

So, here are a five traits I can add, but I can only use three of them. I've marked the ones I thought would be appropriate, but if you guys think a different one would be better... just tell me before I upload it later.

My picks:
Homey - The homey vibe helps Sims quickly master the domestic arts of Cooking, Mixology, Handiness, and Gardening. 50% boost to Cooking, Gourmet Cooking, Baking, Mixology, Handiness, and Gardening skill gains.

Bracing Breezes - Oodles of fresh air make for a bracing environment to exercise. 50% boost to Athletic and Wellness skill gains. (For a marina lot, I think this one should be a trait)

Natural Light - The quality of light here makes Painting and Photography much easier to master. 50% boost to Painting and Photography skill gains.

Other good ones:
Science Lair - The secluded vibe means there's little to distract great minds from the study of Logic or Rocket Science. 50% boost to Logic and Rocket Science skill gains.

Sunny Aspect (City Living DLC) - The beautiful scenery really makes this place uplifting. When the sun goes down, Sims may get Energized, Happy or Inspired. At 6:00 pm Sims on the lot will receive an Energising, Happy, or Inspiring moodlet that will last until 6:00 am.

You can check out the other traits http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Lot_trait

Posted by: denizen 28 November 2017 - 08:04 PM
Sims has sure gone a long way since i last played it. Being Sims 1. laugh.gif

Well the driver didn't deliver my PC yesterday even though i was supposed to be on route. So maybe today. But even still, i have to get Sims 4. And that could only happen on Christmas. MAYBE.

I love all the nitpicks you can add to your Sims but have to agree that it will take some getting used to.

Posted by: denizen 1 December 2017 - 12:55 AM
Finally got my pc yesterday and its pretty awesome! thumbsup.gif

So hopefully Santa will have Sims 4 in my Xmas sock. laugh.gif

Thanks Jedi. I'm glad you don't mind. I just thought that it was a good place to add my screenshots. You should check out this program. Basic program is free, but the upgrade gives so many options. I just wish it would let me change the hair color on the characters. I don't like the dark hair on sleeping Mac but I felt it appropriate to add him to the houseboat couch since he slept there so often.

Posted by: Jediferret 23 February 2018 - 07:55 AM
Actually, RDA's natural hair color is chocolate brown, so... the darker hair color is more accurate. I think my MacGyver sim is the only sim for download with RDA's natural hair color... all the other ones are blond, which I hate... because it's not his natural hair color. Well, I'm biased because I'm a natural blond and prefer darker colored hair on men anyway.

biggrin.gif

Here's a pic of Mac sleeping on his couch in Sims 4. He's a happy Sim... except he plays on his computer too much. XD It's made him late for work a few times.

Cool. Shots of the episodes in Sims style. Out In The Cold, The Negotiator, Jenny's Chance and The Prometheus Syndrome.

Unfortunately for as detailed as I am able to make the sets, the character options are very limited in this program.

Thanks. The ferris wheel was in the library of available items. I just had to modify the size slightly and change the colors to match his red one in the apartment.

Finally got Sims 4 back up to speed, had to recreate some of my Sims. The MacGyver Sim and Houseboat lot were preserved on the Sims Community, so I just had to download them. Thank god.... lol

These are my Sims meeting MacGyver at his houseboat. The two female Sims are based off myself and my sister.

Enjoy!

Very cool. I HAVE to get back to it. My biggest problem is the lack of time, and too many titles to choose from. (I'm bad like that dry.gif )
