Wanted this thread back, because some of Stooges pictures are now part of this sites locations page.

Had some trouble with the images in this post.. so Maybe Stooge could give me the correct URL's again.

Hello everyone,

Well last weekend I got back from my vacation with my family. We went to Seattle area to see my aunt, drove to Vancouver, B.C. for 2 days, then drove to Whistler, B.C. for 5 days, and then back to Seattle for a day. The entire trip was fantastic. I have a billion pictures and movies (about 4 GBs worth.)

Anyhow, during my exploits in B.C., I thought it would be super fun to find Mac filming locations. Now, I didn't really think that it would be nice to ditch my family and go romp around so that I just observed as we ventured.

The first POI is the Phoenix Foundation. I thought that it might be around our hotel just based on scenery. I found online that the actual building is Westcoast Energy on Georgia st. Georgia street was only a couple blocks from my hotel. I figured it had to be south of my location because north was Stanley Park. I did a web search for westcoast energy and found the location. Again, I didn't want to just leave everyone so that as we walked around the perimeter of Stanley park I looked at all the the buildings from a distance. I was able to spot it after about 15 minutes. It was awesome actually seeing it. These days it is much stubbier than the other high rises but it holds its own in style amongst the modern structures. Later on in the night I actually went to the building but the images turned out crappy.

(Sorry, the building actually fell on its side when I was there.)

The two POI that I found in Stanley Park were by accident; I did not know they were there.

For both Stanley Park POI, refer to http://www.city.vancouver.bc.ca/parks/park...verviewMap.html

The next POI is the totem poles in Stanley Park. These were instantly recognizable. Very unique and beautiful. The totems are marked as number 18 on the map.

Another POI is the Pavilion Cafe in Stanley Park. This was the best because we were walking to go find food and we stumbled upon the cafe and it was total deja vu. I was like, "Oh damn!" And the memories of the scene where Mac and Nikki are arguing about Heidi and Helmet flooded in. I wasn't even thinking of MacGyver when we were walking in that area; it just happened suddenly and subconsciously. I snapped a couple pics and reveled in my find. After the entire trip, I loaded Season 3, Disc 2 and watched GX-1 specifically at 12' 37", which is the scene with Aspenhouse. The Pavilion Cafe is marked as number 6 on the map.

Here is one of the pics I took. As you can see in the scene, basically everything is the same.

I also tried to look for the slip that held Mac's boathouse but I couldn't find it. It looks like they renovated the area.

(This is not my picture; see MacgyverOnline locations page)
Based on this picture, it looks like the Westin in the top left so that should place the boathouse south of Westin, which sounds about were I ate dinner one night at a place called Cardero's.

When driving to Whistler, I saw the Widowmaker mountain from the episode "the Widowmaker" in S3. I didn't get a pic of it. We also passed the B.C. Museum of Mining used in "Jack in the Box" and "The Ten Percent Solution." I recognized these on the way back but didn't have a chance to take a picture because we had to get back to Seattle to catch the plane.

http://www.macgyveronline.com/pages/locations.html are other Mac locations.

My trip to B.C. was awesome. Getting to see MacGyver filming locations, seeing Vancouver, and exploring Whistler.

Here are a couple pics from billions that I took the Whistler area, unrelated to Mac. I took video too and I wish I could post it because they're damn cool, but my webserver is down right now.

Second day, we rented bikes and biked through the mountains. That is my sister and my JA shirt.

Third day, we whitewater rafted on the Elaho river. I'm on the far left, then my sister on the floor, our guide, my mom, and my sister's significant other. As you can see, only the guide and I are paddling.

Fourth day, we went to peak of Whistler and hiked down (we also started on a new expert trail called High Note, which was spectacular, but went back to the peak because it was too steep for my mom.)

Here I am doing the High Note Mosquito Shuffle. And BTW, that's an ORANGE in my pocket.

Wow! It's funny to see what places are like in real life. Of course you know it's all set somewhere else, but it must be weird seeing them like that.

Funny how you got to "aspenhouse" without even looking for it. word1.png

---aargh, I just opened the pic of the Phoenix Foundation, and all of a sudden this terrible Dutch song starts playing, right before I head for bed! I won't be able to get it out of my head tonight! I'm so ******! ranting2.gif ---

Wow thats really cool! Just the other night I was looking at the location pics on this site thinking how fun it would be to actually go visit those places, and you got to do it! Sound slike you had a great holiday!

QUOTE ( stooge4444 Sep 6 2006 @ 06:40 PM)

I swear I did get teary eyed when I was finding these places. It was so much fun. And to think that I didn't even think about looking for them until I actually got to Vancouver. It makes you think that there is some ethereal force that made me do it. Maybe the area was calling to me since it knew how much I love Mac!!

Just out of curiousity, anyone reading this know anyone who lives in Vancouver area?

I also wanted to add how clean Vancouver is (the area that I visited) and how awesome it is to see recyling on almost every corner as opposed to the states were most people go out of there way to NOT recycle. The people are extremely nice and the women are beautiful beyond belief (we'll save that for another trip.)

The only uncommon, weird event was when I passed by a bum and he threw Cheetos up in the air in front of me as I passed carrying groceries. What made it interesting was that he was non-chalant about it; just like holding out a cup for change. He didn't say anything, make gestures, move quickly, or even look at me...didn't throw them at me....just Cheetos Up....Cheetos Down...and there my sister and I walked...right over the Cheetos...
