QUOTE (Maclover @ 13 April 2016 - 10:30 AM) | The museum is worth a look if you ever get there, but take a picnic if you don't like Mickey D's - there was literally no-where else to get lunch, so for the first, and I hope only time, I actually ended up to buying some. |
McDonald's has come along way since their drive-in burger days. I had a feta, spinach & egg wrap for breakfast this morning and it was very, very good. Nowadays, their coffee is as good as you'd get from any of the specialty coffee shops, and their bathrooms are always ultra clean. Could do a lot worse in the world today. Having said that, I hate getting railroaded for any food choice as is so often the case in amusement/tourist attractions. But really, the menu & caloric choices are quite varied in 2016 and probably much more healthy than your average pub or chipper. Breaking news ,,,, I've made a new friend in recent weeks. She's got a cute face, a sleek body, big round eyes, & like me, is always on the hunt for a fresh, seafood dinner!

Aha, I knew there was an ulterior motive there! Hmmm, I never considered that particular angle, and I do run into this topic/debate along with the Walmart model on forums quite often. They do put a lot back into the community though, with Ronald MacDonald House which provides housing near medical facilities for families of seriously ill children. They also send thousands of underprivileged kids to camp each summer, and their hiring programs are incredible career building blocks for our youth. So not all so evil-handed really. I'm curious, in the UK, where do coaches, guardians take youth sports teams after competitions? In Canada/US, to have a van of 20 ravenous hockey players after a game, means 'fast food' NOW! and McDonalds et al have fit nicely for this requirement over the years. Okay, back on topic. The seals come in the spring and fatten up on the fish entering the rivers amid the highest tides in the world, here. Their pups will soon be born and they will be gone further out to sea, and apparently they will go into a period of fasting soon after. Here is another that's just caught (what looks to be) an American eel. Yum!
