I think it's pretty common knowledge most closeup of macgyverisms are hand doubles and NOT RDA.

Is it safe to say the all the opening gambit hands closeups are also not RDA?

I don?t think so. I also don?t know if they started the 'hand double' thing right away...

Some of them certainly are RDA?s hands - especially the ones frome early episodes, like the pilot.

Since I`ve seen them in real life (met him a few times at conventions during the past years) I started to recognize the slight differences between his graceful hands and the doubles (which were, at times, his brother?s hands - hence the close resemblance).

At DragonCon back in 2012 RDA stated that they "eventually" hired his brother to do the hand closeups because his hands had too many scares from where he kept cutting himself from playing with the SAKs between takes.

We know it wasn't done right from episode 1, but was started sometime in season one because his brother was used in episode S01.E18 (Ugly Duckling) as evidenced by the below image.

I never knew any of this. I can certainly understand about the SAK scars though!
